Picked up my 718 AP2 irons this week

 

Project X LZ 6.0 Shafts, Lofts 1' strong

 

These will stay in the bag for a long while now....keep trying other sets but always end up back with AP2

 

Only thing left now is to find a nice 2 Iron....Waiting for the X-Forged UT and UDI's to release to put up against the MMC Fli Hi

 

May end up with an extra putter as currently rotating a Spider Black and Ping Nickel Anser (from the 90's)

Bought 14 new grips a week ago, new Titleist.

Just arrived last night so now i need to start looking for some Titleist Irons.....

Brand new 10.5* Ping G driver! Swapped a partial set of Big Bertha OS irons for the driver and 2 dozen SuperSofts. Got it playing at 43.75”.

I hope this plays as well as it looks. Been wanting an epic sub zero for a while, just was not a fan of the green theme. Glad that Callaway customs came up with the solution! First Callaway club ever.

 

I love my g400 lst. However, I have to say that is much better looking. Love it without the green.

I picked this up for my Son today, it will be a grading present in the spring for him. I got a really good deal on it from a guy on Kijiji, that’s why I got it now. Man does it ever feel odd buying right handed clubs haha. I’m gonna clean it a bit and remove the Honey Dip finish, it will look like brand new by the time he actually gets it :)

Neighbor of mine has that model. Nice putters. Never understood why people pay a price for a new putter of a Scotty and leave the head covers off them.

Just bought these beauts on eBay. Don't know much about them other than they were only sold in the Japanese market and they may have been forged by Miura, and I think they look cool!

I started the restoration process last night, here a little sneak peak at how she’s gonna look when she’s done. I’m picking up the Naval Jelly on my way from work today to strip the remaining Finish. At least a Couple more hours to go on it still :)

I didn’t wet sand the 600g and 1000g steps but you could if you wanted to. I can’t wait to see if after blasting, it should look nearly new again. :)

Picked up a really nice set of JDM R9 TP Forged irons on Rakuten for a steal. I'm going to do a black oxide job on them like the set they had at tourspec and may play them a little before the refinish just because I've always heard great things about the clubs.....and they look awesome at address with a really good looking sole. We'll see.

Thanks, it’s been fun working on it. As for Naval Jelly, I don’t have a clue what it is but all my searches for how to strip the Honey Dip finish turn up results of using Naval Jelly(Phosphoric Acid). I work at a cabinet shop(we have a spray booth) and I’m wondering if I can just dunk it in paint thinner at work today for a few minutes instead? I wonder if it would hurt the Stainless?

did you measure if there was a loss in weight? does sanding it to relieve the nicks and dings actually take metal off or does it really just smooth it out?

It definitely does remove some material, you’re essentially removing the “high” spots in the sanding process. I didn’t pull the shaft so I’m not sure about how much weight would have been lost. My searches before hand showed others have lost up to 5-7 grams in Refinishing, but I don’t think this putter lost that much, it’s possible though. This model has the removable weights so the weight loss isn’t it a big deal, it can be easily added back :)
