After weeks of thinking and reading about it, I went to get fitted for a Ping G400 Max driver and 3 wood this morning. Walked out with a Callaway Rogue 10.5* Stiff - with a stock shaft. Turns out I'm that one guy who is perfectly fine with the stock shaft. The 3 wood is on order as they didn't have any with a stiff shaft. I just liked the feel of the Rogue better than the G400, but the difference was very subtle. And probably just random, but the Rogue went about 5 yards farther. Dispersion seemed the same, my usual all over the place.

 

I've also been thinking about buying a mallet putter as I've never given one a real chance in my view, putting on carpet in a store for a few minutes isn't a fair test. I've used heel and toe blades with toe hang all my life. Tried several Ping, Scotty and Envroll mallets, none grabbed my attention. And I tried a Wilson Staff Bean putter, also didn't grab me. So I tried a Wilson Staff South Side, counterbalanced and center shaft face balanced and sunk two out of three from 12 feet. Didn't buy it, but at the next store I tried the South Side again, and my alignment was dead on. Might just be chance but at least I am trying something completely different, I've never owned a mallet, or face balanced/center shaft, counterbalanced putter in my life. If I like it, I may sell off my lovely ER2 and buy a better mallet, or just stay with the bargain WS South Side. Whatever works.

 

And they threw in an FJ Dryjoys rain hat that I wanted anyway.

To be honest I hit like 10 putts with it at the shop, I'm sure the insert will take some time to get used to. I had a #7 a few years back, but have been using predominantly a Newport or anser style since then. Im digging the toe hang and the lookfrom address

Still going with SBST putting stroke so bought a face balanced PING Karsten TR Anser 5 + a fat grip.

Will I hole more putts? Here's hoping....

Quickshopgolf (I think) has been the one listing just TONS of TEE fairway woods over the last month or two on eBay. Literally every older model can be had for next to nothing - even still they have tons of them listed on eBay.

I'm fairly certain yer thinking of Quick Ship Golf, who I like a lot and have ordered half a dozen things or more from in the past.

Good reliable people with good reliable gear.

Scotty killer! Already have the 6 but wanted more of a mallet so got the 11 with oversized grip. Feels great off the face. Cleveland’s have more pop than Scotty’s to me which I like.
