Nice Nice Nice DJ---- Too nice for me to hit here this sandy soil would ruin them in a few rounds----- And if Hogan Apex Blades ( Alan) checks in here he is liable to have a coronary

Well, hopefully these won’t kill him :D

Well they are killing me and I am not a 100% Hogan Man ----yet. With your woodworking skills I can see you building a nice display rack. I know that statement goes against mostly what I stand for as in play the suckers but dammit those are too nice to hit

I had these done to offer on my website, but I really want to keep them for myself!

Just picked these up from the refinisher.

My favorite clubs of all time, beautiful. Are those a mix of 1959 and 1958 heads? I see three hosel rings on some (1958) and some without any hosel markings at all, all absolutely stunning.

Yes, two have the hosel rings while the rest do have the hash marks but are very faint.

The Sunbursts are beautiful, but how about some love for the 1960 Power Thrust?

My love for the 1960 Power Thrust runs deep, second only to the Hogan Sunburst Sabers and a close one at that. Another stunning set. Is that a satin finish on the Power Thrusts?

Yes, satin on the Power Thrusts.

I saw a set on another site refinished in satin and thought they were the best looking Hogan’s I’ve ever seen. Once I got these back, I’m sure they are.

Going to put them back on the vintage PRoFit shafts or going in a different direction?

I didn't plan on keeping them actually. I'm starting a classic golf centric website and had planned on offering them for sale there.. I'm kind of having second thoughts though as they look so great.

If I do keep them I would probably just go with some Dynamic Gold R300's.

Well.....since the Apex shaft was not available at the time that these were produced....me thinks that you should find a good set of Apex 3's or 4's and put those bad boys in...then go play 'em.

Having a set like that and NOT playing them is like being married to a super model, but never having sex with her, because "she looks so good" - wazzup wit dat????

I’ve got a set of Apex 3’s right here. I’ve got 4’s also but I like the 3’s better.

I really like the Dynamic Gold High Launch R300’s in my KZG’s. I think they would be a tremendous shaft in these vintage Hogan’s.

Yep those high launch will work well in those trust me---- I put a set in my first VIPs ( the ones I wore out) it will really wake those puppies up. The Apex 3s should work great too. I soft stepped a set of 3s and put them in one of my sets of Muirfields they hit just like my VIPs with the Apex 2s in them. But for now I am sticking with the KZGs with the graphite until I am sure about my back

I thought maybe I’d make a custom dovetailed wooden presentation box for them. Not sure if I’ll have the time though, I have so many irons in the fire right now.

I've heard tons of good things about late 50's Wilson wedges so I dipped my toe in with this 1958 Dyna-Powered pitching wedge with original reminder grip.

It has a beautiful shape and feel great. I might be looking for a full set of 1958 Dyna-Powered's soon. :D

Those can be pricey online? I do like the shape of Wilson wedges/short irons much more than other OEM's from ye' olden days. I never understood the giant round paddle wedges that a lot of them made back then.

I have a set, and pretty much love them. They are great to hit, and the old leather reminder grips are cool. Mine are players as they have 60 years of bag wear on them, but they still look pretty dignified.

Just found these .

Wow! Did you pick those up Richard? Those Macgregor and the Armours are both awesome sets!

my local GW. The armour are regular with sensicore. How about the single 6 iron. !

I’ve never hit those Armours but I remember when they came out, I thought they looked pretty sweet. The Macgregors on the other hand, I remember demoing those when they were new. I couldn’t justify spending the money but I remember I hit them for what seemed like 2 hours they were so nice.

Can't speak of the 1958s, but I do have a set of 1960s with the round leather grips and regular shafts that belonged my dad that are just awesome. They have held up to 60 years of play very well.

Great to hear another positive experience.

The 58 pitching wedge I picked up is awesome. Every swing was just attracting the 100 yard pin. It was flying a little high but right on target. Decided to buy the full set of 58’s. If they are all as good as the PW I’m gonna be really excited.

Orange-

"I never understood the giant round paddle wedges that a lot of them made back then."

So you're saying Gene Sarazen's Sand Wedge design (among others) was wrong?

Of course not. I personally don't like how large the some of the older ones are compared to the rest of the irons. Maybe my choice of words was off. The functionality of the design as fine. I'm commenting from a personal aesthetic preference. I like squarer toes and straight leading edge ( heel to toe ). I dislike some of the more modern Mizuno set short irons for the same reason.

Just finished regripping my 54 TopFlites with Tacki Mac arthritic grips set is 2 thru 9. 7 iron not pictured. According to the weather I'll be able to play then on April 1. Hope there's no April fool day.

Trust me you will like them> And that is a smart move installing the arthritic grips that will take a lot of the sting and vibration out.
