No new acquistions...?

The Spaldings have landed.

After an epic journey which started last September they are finally in hand although when the delivery driver buzzed my intercom it was to ask what I was expecting as he couldn't find the parcel in his van.......'struth!

I confess that anticipation was greater than the actuality of opening the box....condition is very good, all matching numbers, nice two-tone leather grips with beading BUT somehow they lack the style and refined look of Wilson or Macgregor, they are a bit 'agricultural'.

I'm thinking that some strategically placed lead tape might help their look and make them a bit more Trevino-ish!

Chris-

They might not seem to be the best LH models available, but as LH Spalding irons go, these were at the top of the list. Are these just 2-9?

Later, when it came to those top line/LH custom forged iron models, Spalding pretty much wasn't an option- "....Here are the Executives..."

Note- There were some very good Spalding Sand Wedges made during this same period as these irons.

Found an old Jones bag in awesome shape today.

As a proud Oregon State University alum, I've decided it's a Masters themed bag, even though it's probably a University of Oregon scheme given my geography.

Either way, it's in really good shape and came with a funky add-on stand bag mechanism. Thankfully it slipped off easily.

Whew! Gorgeous! How much weight did they lose? I'm curious because I'm a tall golfer who is experimenting with longer irons and lighter heads would be an asset. I would guess that the weight lost would vary depending on the initial condition of each head, but do you think you could contract the refinisher to try to remove a similar amount per head? Thanks for sharing the pictures.

I didn’t weigh them prior but I know my refinished Hogan Precision’s still tipped the scales at D-6 swingweight when I built them to +.5” using TT Rocket shafts.

Like you said, depending on varying condition of each individual club, more or less material will be lost so I’m not sure if the refinisher would be able to remove the same amount per head to achieve a consistent set or if it’s just easier to add lead down the hosel to get proper weights when building the set.

Just picked these up from the refinisher.

My favorite clubs of all time, beautiful. Are those a mix of 1959 and 1958 heads? I see three hosel rings on some (1958) and some without any hosel markings at all, all absolutely stunning.

Yes, two have the hosel rings while the rest do have the hash marks but are very faint.

The Sunbursts are beautiful, but how about some love for the 1960 Power Thrust?

Excellent you can not go wrong with a Jones bag--- That bag model is called the original--- I would say from the colors that is a custom build. Jones will do any color you want--- I had always wanted a Jones bag and I pulled the trigger on a used Jones Classic non stand on duh bay. Works good for me especially riding but it is light too. There are several folks that make the accessory stand things for Jones , Makenzie and Elliott bags. Yeah if you want to get rid of it shoot me a PM but if you want to keep it I certainly understand

Well they are killing me and I am not a 100% Hogan Man ----yet. With your woodworking skills I can see you building a nice display rack. I know that statement goes against mostly what I stand for as in play the suckers but dammit those are too nice to hit
