Grabbed a set of Ram Accubar clubs from a trash bin.  Driver sole plate is reattached improperly but the rest is really nice.  I need to find a PW to match though.  2-9 here with new Karma grips too.  Wow.

Oh dear, here we go again.  I had behaving well this year avoiding the siren's call of ebay auctions and now I've won another club -- a Spalding Executive EZ X driver.  I know that this is pushing the limits of what might be posted here as it's clearly a modern titanium metal driver.  I just like the look of it and considering that I have a bit of a crush on a pair of laminate Executive FW's, this seems like a logical add to the bag.  A lark for sure, but for $12 it called to me.

The club arrived yesterday and gave it a waggle.  Really nice club for what appears to be around 1995-2000 issue.  Titanium, but small head at somewhere between 250-275 cc.  Fits in my old barrel headcovers perfect!

Took it to the range today and liked what I saw almost immediately.  Took about three balls to get the set-up right and then  away we went.  Straight to a slight fade with the sort of trajectory I haven't seen in a modern driver since before I was hurt.  Don't argue with it, just hit it.  I think it's a difference maker for this old coot. 👍

Brought a couple of other clubs along with me to try, but I don't think that they really add anything to the table over what I currently have in the bag.  Interesting hitting off of hard deck versus the matts that were all taken.  I don't think that I could hit modern irons off of that sort of surface, but my old 80's Ping clones handled those conditions pretty well, especially the higher lofted irons.

I'm throwing up a few sweet heads from my recent lot of 50 for northplatteriver, which now live with me just off the South Platte River. The Nelson driver isn't as nice as his, but it has that great reverse sweep back sole plate and will be well loved.

The Penna needs a refresh to clear up some expired 70's poly, but it is a solid head and sits up just right. This is one of the best driver heads I have ever seen. I have two sets of Penna SEOM fairway woods and have been looking for a driver to pair them with...we have a winner.

My latest acquisition, which just came in today. A classic Bullseye putter. It's in excellent condition, the weight is just right, and even the grip and shaft are in great shape! All it needs is a little Brasso and it'll look like a new putter! I spent a lot of time looking at a lot of Bullseye putters on eBay, and this is the best one I found. I even made an offer of $10, and it was accepted! Can't wait to try it next time I go play.

Not recently new as I picked up the clubs pre Covid, then later on, in between lockdowns a fellow member brought in the bag which he had found in a hard rubbish pile on his way into golf. He asked if anyone was interested and I said yes as I had some Srixon clubs at home. He gave me the bag and I think it looks pretty good with these irons. (Probably not old enough for this forum but they are blades with a classic look so I thought worth posting).

Very nice. The Pro 100s are one the best feeling blades I have hit. I think they came out in the early 2000s, didn't they? Probably in limited numbers, as well.

I bought mine heads only, and had them shafted up with some old Macgregor shafts (which were actually DGS300s), soft-stepping to make them longer, so the 3i shaft went into the 4i head, 4i shaft into the 5i head and so on. I haven't bothered getting the 3i shafted yet.

Specs are:

PW: 48*

9i: 43*

8i: 38*

7i: 34*

6i: 30*

5i: 27*

4i: 24*

3i: 21*

Been wanting a set of these for a while, finally found a set in fantastic condition, 2-10 iron with matching laminates.  TT Dynamic stiff shafts and original grips.  Just a beautiful complete set.  The grips are rock hard unfortunately, but they are so cool I may have to try the grip remover to humanely remove them and keep them in storage.

I have a set of those.  Great clubs!

I didn't have the money to buy them new in 1977.  Much of my collection is that sort of thing.  Clubs that I wanted as a kid and couldn't afford.  It's neat to be able to acquire them now.

A second set of these this week. Sick addiction. On second thought a very fun addiction.🤗

Took them to the range last night. Nice feel and great bag appeal. Pairing them up with my Tommy Armour persimmons and Ping Day putter.

I have been playing mine all week--- That 11 iron is one heck of a wedge--- In fact I have been hitting mine so well this week I am thinking about putting them into play in this weeks shootout

I bought a bunch of wound balls this past week. The Titleist DT Wounds are solid performers. They don't spin like balatas, but they're most similar to the wound surlyns I played back in the day. Only played balata on special occasions.

The Maxfli Elites I know nothing about. Wound with a Urethane cover. From the blurb on the box, I'm guessing these came out some time in the late Nineties, when solid core balls started to take over.

The Srixons are for my daughter, who's a fan of Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demonslayer in English). It's basically a bribe to get her to come to the course with me😔

I'm slightly intrigued as to how the DT Wounds with Raytheon on them found their way to Japan, though I can guess. Hopefully they have laser-guided technology built into them to help me find the green.

Exactly so, Catchy.  They were the replacement for the HT.  The Elite ball was the last generation of true wound balls for Maxfli.

I played a dozen or two of them back then.  Found it interesting that I gained distance with short irons, and they moderated my then-absurd trajectory to something more normal.

If Tiger hadn't switched to the Tour Accuracy, they may have stuck around longer in the marketplace.  <shrug>

Interesting. I look forward to trying them out. I wonder if they will be anything like the Titleist Professionals with the Elastomer covers.

In other news, I just checked my wound ball collection (surlyn, balata, and others), and I realise I have about 9 dozen unit balls to get through. Should be OK for a year or two.

This showed up in my doorstep today. My first set of 1950s persimmons.  According to the Kaplan book they date to 1955.   The Irons could be ‘55-57. But by the looks of the shape of the shafts and grips I’m going to guess they have been together for the past 60+ years. 2-9 for the Colokroms and 1-4 for the 945ws.

Oh my word. Those woods are incredible. There are people here who have seen more than I have, but those are the best original-condition 945s I've ever seen. The 2w almost looks unhit. Very envious!
