I must say I am liking the 125 Wedge shafts. I got my first round in with them today and they are very nice. First thing I noticed was distance. Could be the flex but they are giving me more yards than the Tour 125s. They are higher trajectory too. They are easier to load which I found helps a touch as I can be less aggressive with the swing and have a bit more control. Weight, balance and feel are all negligible differences between the 2 shafts. I do know this for my swing, I wouldn't go any lighter to the 115s or 105s in the Wedge versions.

you have these matches with 130s in your irons, do i have that right?

Yes. 103 stiff in the irons all the way through the Gap. The Gap has a 130 wedge in it. I weighed both shafts and the cut weight of the 125 Wedge is about 7-8 grams heavier than the cut weight of the 130 stiff wedge. Different feel to the load as I compared them extensively since some on here are having good luck with the 130s all the way through the set. The 125 Wedge is a smoother load and less overall kick in the tip. I would say it feels like the bend point is high up towards the hands versus in the tip. I don't think I would want the 125 Wedge in my gap though as its more of a full swing club.

I have 130s through the bag, but have been thinking about trying a 125 wedge in my lob wedge. The ball launches pretty high with 130s, it's fine most of the time but wish it was a little easier to hit a knock down.

Honestly though I may just get a Glide 2.0 and try the AWT wedge stock shaft which is made by Nippon.

great feedback - so do you have the 124 w in the sand and the lob then? the point about the tip kick and full swing use makes me wonder if I want it in sand or not - lob for sure i think for knockdowns

i went back and forth for the past 3 weeks, 105x, 105s, 105 hx1x, 120x ss1x, 130s, 130s ss1x, and they are all good, i would change my opinon by the day. only one i didnt like was 120s. Strange that a 130 and a 105 can feel so similiar but they do, and they are both very good, cant go wrong with either

please keep us updated Hurricanes7

just for reference - what is your ss (6,8 or driver), transititon, release pattern ?

i am a low 80's 8 iron, ,medium transition and late release and both the 106x and 130s seems to both handle that well - the 120s was awful for me as well as an aside

85 8 iron, smooth transition, medium release, low ball hitter, with a draw (hook) all the time. i could not find any to demo so i just ordered all of them and put them into heads and took them to the course. I will not demo iron shafts inside, i need to play with them on the course and then figure it out. 105s, 105 s hs1x, 105x, 120s, 120s hx1x, 120x, 120x ss1x, 130s and 130s ss1x. Man i have serious problems, i ordered 9 shafts from Bob at Nippon.

Howling

love it

so what are you down too - there has to be frontrunners?

1st place- 105s

2nd place-105x hs1x

3rd place- 130s ss1x

last place- 120s, i hit grounders

the 4 wedge shafts are all good so far, 105, 115, 125 and a 130s ss1x. Anyone else have serious issues, because i live in new york and i hit balls yesterday with snow on the ground

how do you explain the 105s and then 4 steps stiffer 105x hs1x being #1 and #2? - must feel very different ?

just wondering

i do find the 105x and 130s are very comparable - just wondering why the 105s you find the best?

thanks

I finally just hit my own test 8 iron with 130 stiff, and had a similar problem. The initial launch is ridiculous. It does flatten out, but I'm not sure it's a usable shaft for me. I could probably bring down low flying aircraft with the 8 iron, I don't even want to think what would happen with the PW. LOL

Thought I should add a bit of background to the above...

I'm generally a high ball hitter, my last session on a launch monitor showed 5 iron launch in the 17°to 18° range, depending on the 5 iron. For the most part, I play weaker lofts (29° or 30° 5 iron), and said test was with a Golden Ram or Mizuno MS-11 with DG shaft; one could (and likely should) compare that to 6 iron results. My spin is in the upper 6k range, and can get up over 7000.

This is what had me checking into the 130, the potential of spin reduction. The launch I was seeing last weekend makes it somewhat less attractive. ;)

i have a lunch around 15' with a 5 iron - which is why i was drawn to the 130 - i found it gives me More spin than the 105 as well - isn't the more active tip on the 130 supposed to do that or?

thoughts?

Higher launch and more spin with the 130s than the 105x - both on 8 and 5 iron

that is what i should expect, is it not?

thanks

typo, 2nd place was 105x ss1x. also the 105s hs1x. the 105 weighs 105 grams, while the 105x weights 112 grams.

the 105x and the 130s are definitely simliar, i like both alot.

The 130 is supposed to be lower spin, but higher launching. Still player dependent, of course.

i hit balls for 3 hours today, the 115 wedge works better for me then the 125. i think the reason being i am going 105 in the irons and the 125 wedge shaft weighs 133 grams and that is alot different. trying the 105 wedge flex next at 111 grams to close the deal. awesome weather in new york

That was my assumption as well, but i have higher spin consistently with 130s vs the 105x - whether it be an 8 or 5 iron

higher launch, higher spin - Both of which i want to be clear

just wondering what others were finding

appreciated

went to the range for the first time with the 105x and man, I felt like crap. i felt like i could not connect with the ball at all. driver was also all over the place. i have tip weights coming in today because my SW went down from D2-3 (all D2 but PW D3 - they were going up) to D0 - 5i, C9 - 6, 7 & 8i. C8 - 9i and C7 - PW (they're all going the opposite way?). need to fix that and see if it helps - hopefully. it was also windy and of course - crappy range balls.

I'm playing Modus3 130X in my irons. What should I put in the wedges? Would like continuity in feel.

Sergio plays 130X throughout his set. I preferred the 130S softer feel in the wedges. They launched a tad high for me though and wound up going with Tour125 in X. But the S is a lot softer than the X IMO so if you like X in irons may want to try the 130X in wedges too. Or hardstep some S's'/Tiger step a 130X 8i into wedges.

Alternative, gasp non-Nippon, option is the KBS Tour V wedge shaft.

For someone who has used s300 for years and years and is happy with them, but maybe wants to try Nippon, to see what the fuss is all about- what would you recommend?

I've read through much of this thread and if it's been answered, simply point me to the page, if I missed it, and I will thank you.

Thanks.

Some driving iron for Links courses.

A hybrid to save my bad shots.

A Vokey wedge or 2.

Been playing 130x straight in z545 5 6&7 z745 8 9&pw the last 2 years. My bsll flight is baby draw, straight to baby fade depending on my swing that day. Injuries recently forced me to reevaluate my shafts in my clubs. After tryin kbs and steel fiber in my 7 and 8 irons, just ended up ssx2 the 130x. Having more baby draw days than fades(prefer fades). But so good feeling.

Gotta keep on ho ho Hoing...

Been thinking of putting 130s in my 5 and 6 irons what would I have to do to get them to feel the same as my 130x's ssx2?

I am just getting into club building. I am also thinking of going from standard 1/2" increments to 3/8 any knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

hit all 3 wedge shafts today, 115, 125 and 130s and they are all very good. They all feel very good, the 130 goes the highest, the 125 goes the lowest, and the 115 is in the middle.

I kept 130X throughout my entire set, and I'm 100% satisfied. I don't have any complaints about the trajectory of the wedges, and the feel is great. I had DG TI X100 in my wedges prior to this, and I actually think the 130X have a better flight and superior overall performance. Glad I made the switch.
