Lower on the face does seem to feel more like a "sweetspot" but with the high MOI I'll take the "dead" feeling and use gear affect for that high launch low spin. Hoping the GoGo will bring some feel over the rogue.

At the range right now.

This head with my P9003... Oh. My. Gods!!!

Hit mine on the range yesterday with an AD MD 8tx and it was a monster. Played 9 with it the other day with the stock TFC and was still hitting to places I have never been before. This thing is dead straight missiles for me.

I tried mine today with rogue silver 110 70S and to me it made the club head feel very heavy even though my tour 80s shaft is only 2 grams lighter I hit it just as straight with the ping shaft compared to rogue I did not see much difference maybe rogue launched a bit lower but my best hits came with the ping they both felt just as smooth as the other anyone else compare these shafts yet?

started using a Kuro Kage xt 70s in mine, can hit it off the last toe turbulator and still goes a country mile straight,
ps the Kuro Kage XT is an amazing shaft for me has the same stability and dispersion as a speeder 7.2 ts but nowhere near as boardy and much smoother through transition , another plus, it has significantly reduced the sound and made the head feel much softer ( if you have used a b series you will know what i mean).

Had a chance to try one the other day. My friend bought one and let me take a few rips with it on the course this past weekend. First thing I thought, this driver has SLDR performance but with actual forgiveness. I was really surprised at how good the stock shaft is too. I am really close to pulling the trigger on one

So before I post, this isn't meant as a Chest out Brag post, i promise. I read through the entire thread...pretty good read so far. So I've played my I20 8.2* with a Fubuki70x in it for 3-4 years now, and yesterday the epoxy came loose and I had to take it in. I usually have a guy do all my club work, but have recently moved so had to take it in to Golfsmith. While hanging around I got to demo the G30 LS. I don't play as much as I used to buy i float around +1 to a 2 most of the year. I've always hit the ball a long way(I'm 6'4 220), so this isn't meant as a brag..just looking for input from others. My usual ball flight with my I20 is a slight cut, I can move it out there 300-310, but I LOVE the feel, sound, shape...and its just the most reliable driver I've hit.

I demo'd a 9 G30 LS(moved to 9.5*) with the 60Ping Tour X...my first instinct was "really stock shaft", and "too much loft"

But the numbers didn't lie, with this set up i was hovering around 175-180 ball speed, 320-325 carry, spin was around 2100-2400 and launching around 9.5-11*.

Those are almost ideal numbers, now I couldn't see the flight(which i hate), and I need to hit it on the course in competitive rounds to get a true feel.

Can this set up really be 10-15yards(CARRY!) longer then my I20?

Once my I20 gets glued back together I will hit side by side to compare.

My only concern is a 65ish gram shaft, I usually like to feel a heavier shaft as it helps with my transition.

Go to a real good ping fitter they should have the tour 80 shaft it is 75 grams and lower torque at 2.8 than the 65 tour shaft I have the tour 80 in mine and love this combo. PS i have not seen this shaft at big box stores in my area. I went to a top 100 ping fitter in my area first shaft he had me try was tour 80. Even funnier I went hoping to get fit to a 915d3!

Helpful suggestion to those buying new or considering switching from the regular G30: might as well pay the extra $8 to have it digitally lofted. The fact that they offer this as a service is proof enough that the lofts on the heads can vary from head to head due to manufacturing tolerances. If we assume that everyone is buying this driver to squeeze out a handful of extra yards by lowering the spin a few hundred revs, I think it's pretty useful to know what the loft actually is. This is especially true if you're switching from the regular G30 to lower the spin because you might get a LS head that has a higher than stated loft and that will negate most of the low spin technology built into the club.

In other words, if you're buying this club to save 300-400 revs, get it digitally lofted because if you don't, that 9* head you buy may actually have 10* of loft and you could end up seeing no difference in performance.

how is this driver with the stock Tour 65 Shaft??

As easy to hit as the normal G30? Does it launch nice and high??
I was fit for mine outdoors on trackman. Swing speed 105-110 and ended up with a tour 65 in x flex. I hit a ton of different drivers and shafts and I was swinging awful that day in general but the ls won out. I hit some 375$ diamana shaft with just a slight bit better dispersion but the tour shaft was performing so close that we decided that was the one.
I played the last 2 years with an r1 that I was also fit for(pxv tour 52 6.5) and that driver was my longest I had played because I got great spin numbers with it.
My first round with the g30 ls was Sunday with no range time at all. I put a few awful swings on it but the results were better than my awful swings with the r1.
Also, it was soaking wet that day and I hit the longest drive I had ever hit on 3 holes at this course, surpassing summer/dry fairway distance with the r1.
It won't make up for awful swings, it was just a little better result wise than the old one. The well struck ones were bombs.
I'm looking forward to practice with it

Eta: yes it is fairly easy to hit high I thought

Tried Ping G30 and G30 LS against my Titleist 909D2 9.5 indoor today. Hit a ton of balls with my rusty swing, up to 108 SS after warm up. G30 LS lower spin for sure, I would day 300-500 lower, in the 1700-2200 range for me. I liked Tour 65S shaft better than stock. G30 LS was a bit longer for me. I tried both G30 and G30 LS with both stock and Tour 65S shafts at 9 and 10 deg. Strangely, nothing definitive in terms of overal distance. My longest was 305 with G30 LS but launch looked low on the screen. Best G30 was 298. My prelim thoughts are 9 deg is too low, Tour 65S rocks, probably don't need G30 LS unless my launch was higher than 11-14.

Can't you adjust loft with the adapter?

Just picked up my 2 digitally lofted G30 LS drivers (1 for a buddy and 1 for me). We had both ordered with the Ping Tour 65x shafts, but I plan on keeping my Veylix Rome from my standard G30, so if anyone is interested in a Tour 65x with tip brand new never been hit, send me a PM.

So another training session in with the Oban Tour Limited. It is impressing how this driver works with the shaft. There was a lot of head wind when I played but I was still able to crush some balls where I usually hit them. Flight is crazy, the ball climbs fast and want to stay there - makes a lot of fun to watch. My bad shot is a block...in combo with head wind not really good - but with the G30 LS I was still able to be in reasonable places. I have to say - I like what I see!

I was having some issues with my LS 10.5 with the Tour 65 shaft. Seemed j couldn't find the sweet spot consistently and my swing just felt off. I hit it side by side with a 9* head and it was better but still room for improvement. I traded the head and shaft for a 9* LS with a Ahina Ion 70 and magic was made! Hitting it more consistently in the middle. Really want to try the tour 80 shaft and maybe a Rogue 125 7, 7M3, or BB7. But for now the Ahina is doing great. Only complaint is the sound...

Which brings me to my question of how do I add the cotton balls? How many do I add? Where?

Forgiving driver for sure, but am now getting better numbers with an R15 and it feels better. Didn't try it out initially as I'm far from a TM fanboy, but am surprised at the side by side at the shop with just the stock stiff shafts (Tour 65X in G30). Need to get my hands on a TP against my gamer (DL at 8.5* -1 setting) as I had the R15 at 7.5* and full fade weighting.

Does anyone know how the digital lofting works? I know they pick a head at the requested loft. But, does that mean if I pick a higher lofted head, then the face is slightly more closed. I think Ping will usually say that it is neutral face angle no matter what, but I was just wondering, how the manufacturing tolerance works on that. Are the more lofted heads more closed face?

I had a guy from Edwin Watts call them up and ask about this. The rep from Ping really didn’t know and just figured that the more lofted ones would have a more closed face angle.

I was just wondering because I have the 10.5 LS and like to turn the loft down to get a little more face bias, but then my launch drops a little too low. So I would like to get a head digitally lofted higher, but if it comes at the expense of a more open face, then it pretty much negates the reason for getting it.

I had an SLDR 430 and the R15 460 was a much better head in my opinion. I still prefer the feel of my G30 to either, but haven't hit the R15 against my G30 since I got it. All I can say is I am reaching places I never saw with any of my previous drivers on my home course.

I have had mine for a few weeks and played a couple of rounds and range sessions with it. I just cannot get used to it, the feel is just so meh for me. The sound and ball flight have been a problem for me. I feel like I made a huge mistake in getting it cut down .5 inches... Im in the tour 65 stiff.

I am teetering between putting my LS up for sale and getting a normal G30 head. Unless anyone is looking for a 10.5 LS head? :blush2:

Picked up mine yesterday ....

I'll spare you all the humble brag -- but hit it longer, higher, and straighter with less spin then my last few drivers. Freaking Amazing!

Is it me or does this driver face have more "roll" built into it than most others?

The results I'm seeing with the same swing are:
1) Center face contact = dead nuts straight
2) Toe side contact = draw
3) Heel side contact = fade

I guess it's gear effect.

I got double crossed a few times setting up for a draw on the tee box, but with heel side contact, the ball went right OB.

On one hand, it's nice having 3 shot shapes with the same swing, but OTOH, I have to be really sure of my lateral contact on the face.

Well here is my quick update after some on the course action:

1) Still not feeling like I murdered one, hit some good drives, but yet to really feel that wow factor.

2) Its early and the course was a tad damp, but distance wise I am not hitting it nearly as far as my Bio Cell Pro.

3) Overall, it was very consistent and forgiving. I had a could of just bad swings that resulted in some less than perfect second shots, but that was all me, the club is very forgiving.

I am going to test out a 915 and see how that feels, if this doesn't work then back to the BCP. Feel is very important to me and sadly out weighs results...I miss that crush factor.

Loved the driver...Distance, forgiveness and even the look, but I HATE the sound. Just cant do it. I know I could hotmelt it but that would bring the head weight way too high. Going on BST this weekend.
