Can anyone comment about how the Ping Anser and G30 LS compare?
The ball flights, spin and length (when hit on sweet spot) are actually similar. Feel is somewhat similar. G30 LS considerably more forgiving (not that the answer is unforgiving). Anser wants to go straight, but has some workability. G30 LS almost insists on going straight. IMO, neither one has the slightest bit of a left or right bias, set at standard loft. Needless to say, appearances are extremely different (Anser = classic; G30 LS = well, not classic). As for sound, the G30 LS is like the Anser, cranked up to 11.

p.s. Big fan of both drivers.

The wait is killing me.
You should have contacted me, I could have set you up with my local pro. I ordered mine about 13 days ago digitally lofted with the Tour 65x (actually ordered 2 ) they both came in last Friday. Standard price with no tax & no up charges......just saying....

Both my G30 LS drivers were obtained thru the Tour Dept as the Tour shaft is supposedly back ordered.

What digital loft and swing weight did you request?

The Oban Kiyoshi Tour Limited is set so far after the range session of yesterday. I hope I'll be able to test the Chrome 7FT5 and Fubuki J 50X at the weekend.

What I have to say about the driver is, the swingweight feels somehow heavy - had anyone the same experience? Or is it just because of switching shaft?

Does anyone know how the digital lofting works? I know they pick a head at the requested loft. But, does that mean if I pick a higher lofted head, then the face is slightly more closed. I think Ping will usually say that it is neutral face angle no matter what, but I was just wondering, how the manufacturing tolerance works on that. Are the more lofted heads more closed face?

I had a guy from Edwin Watts call them up and ask about this. The rep from Ping really didn’t know and just figured that the more lofted ones would have a more closed face angle.

I was just wondering because I have the 10.5 LS and like to turn the loft down to get a little more face bias, but then my launch drops a little too low. So I would like to get a head digitally lofted higher, but if it comes at the expense of a more open face, then it pretty much negates the reason for getting it.
I believe they digitally measure actual loft and face angle doesn't affect ACTUAL loft. The face being open or closed changes the effective loft, respectively.

Always works that way. See how it sells and try to pick up a black r15, should see a price drop in a couple months.

For you guys that are having trouble with the sound, take 1 (yes only 1) XL cotton ball pull it apart, and poke it down into the head......it makes a VERY noticeable difference in the sound. I did this yesterday during my round and all 3 guys I was playing with made the comment "wow that sounds way more muted". Just an idea before you guys give up on a great driver just over the sound.

Another option for the people complaining about the sound but worried about the extra weight from the hotmelt, get a lower weight screw. You can get them down to 5gr. I think stock they are 8-12 so even worst case of it being an 8, 3 grams does make a difference. I currently have 6gr in mine but I haven't added the lower weight yet and it's a little low on swing weight now. So I can prob get another 10gr in there. But I'm hitting it pretty good so I don't want to change anything

You would want to take the weight out of the bottom and put it in that way. This has an adjustable hosel so you can't get in to the head that way.

I like it so far. Only played with it once and maybe hit 10 on the range. I had the chrome from my last driver and it was a little lose with a SLDR head but figured I'd see how it went with a head more forgiving and fade biased like the G30LS. Also have hotmelt but it's still somewhat loud for my liking but performance wise it's doing well.

I had a hit with it today and all I can say is DAMNNN. This driver is definitely my favourite, I can't believe how straight and long it is for such a forgiving club. Will replace my SLDR in a heartbeat.
My 430 sldr is history too! This is by far the lowest spinning driver, for me, on the market. I swing at 111 mph but don't always hit up on my driver like I should, which will impart a lot of spin. Not with this. I was averaging 800 rpm lower with this than all the other new drivers. (that's unbelievable!) Here's the crazy thing, it was with Ping's stock 65 gram tour shaft in extra stiff. I know aldilla makes the shaft, and I know the specs, but usually these shafts aren't that good. I still may be trying my speeder and FM7. Every so often a driver comes out that fits me great and I really bomb it. The last one for me was the black superfast. I almost didn't try it because of how big it was. The same with this driver, I almost didn't try it because it was so big looking compared to my 430 sldr. After seeing the numbers, I don't care what this thing looks like, it's my new driver!!! good job ping!

... For those of you interested in changing the sound with cotton balls, I have another suggestion. Especially if you are not sure you are going to keep your G30. Use yarn instead. You can push the yarn through the weight hole and leave just leave the end sticking out of the hole, then you tighten the weight locking the yarn in place. If it works you are good to go. If it doesn't change the sound enough and you decide to sell it, simply remove the weight and pull all the yarn back out. I ordered a Fly Z with a Tour Blue and a G30 LS with a 14.5gm weight, but am so pleased with the performance of the Fly Z at 44" with yarn in the head, I probably won't even hit my LS. Waiting for a demo day so I can hit the Fly Z next to a LS and be sure.

I am IN LOVE w/ this driver. Went out this morning and missed 2 fairways while carrying a 270 average.

This driver makes golf easier and more enjoyable for me in a way that I've honestly never had in a driver. I just can't get over w/ how happy I am w/ it.

I put the G30 +1 to a 10 deg and with a Tour Green shaft. i25 ball flight but G25 distance.

I25, g25, g30ls are all very different drivers. The g30ls isnt going to be longest out there but for the longer hitters its a freak on a leash. Basically as forgiving as it gets and still keeping spin down comparable to the other low spinning and much less forgiving heads out there.

IMO most of the low spin drivers with the right shaft combo are within a few yards of each other on pured drives. What sets clubs like the G30 and G30 LS apart is that more players will likely be longer on average vs hitting that perfect drive once or twice per round. Let's face it most of us don't hit the sweet spot on a regular basis so the added forgiveness (high moi) of the G30LS helps us hit a fairway or two more per round. That could potenitally be good for a stroke or three for many.

I just got back from a 2 day golf tournament that we play in every year. I put my G30 LS in play for the first time and was very happy with the results. I played the LS for the first 9 holes and then traded out for the standard G30 on the back 9 just to compare the difference. Needless to say, the LS went back in the bag after the first hole on the back 9. For me there is really no difference in forgiveness between the 2 drivers (using the same shaft), but I do get a better ball flight and more roll out with the LS vs the standard G30. Both of my G30 drivers are digitally lofted to 9*, both turned down to the small minus (8.4*) and the LS is definitely giving me a hotter ball flight. The thing I like about the LS, is that even playing a fade I am getting good roll out....with the standard G30, playing a fade literally gives me little to no roll out. With that being said, I was playing courses that could have been slightly firmer in the fairway that what I normally play.....so I am not going to get too excited until I am able to put the LS into play on my local courses with familiar fairways. As far as the sound, my LS is more muted than my standard G30. I put 2 large cotton balls into the head of my standard G30 and only put 1 into my LS and with only 1 cotton ball it has a more muted sound than my standard G30 with the 2. This is an apples to apples comparison as I am using the same shaft in both heads (Veylix Rome 688x).

I should say that i was hitting the G30LS with Tour Green shaft.

My G25 is a 9 degree with an Ahina Stiff shaft - the profiles of the two clubs are very identical. The G30 LS is longer, but not for the price of the club.

The i25 is still my go-to driver for now. I may even start looking at Titleist if needed. However, Im going to go through a lesson first and get back to the basics.

I will be buying a G30 hybrid and possibly a G30 3W.

My brother hit my 10.5 LS Rogue 125 once yesterday off a tee, 330 down the pipe. He looked at it funny, said it felt "heavy" off the face, and then we saw it land lol. You can feel the driver is super low spin on good shots, not sure how to describe it though. Longest drive I've ever seen someone hit by about 10 yards on that hole. I'm making him get a fitting but I think I know what the leader in the clubhouse is.
