It's actually a decent lil off-strip joint. Went to a lot of great shows there back in the day. Problem is ... well, it's on Boulder Highway. That's where you'll get into trouble. Or stabbed. 😂

I think we had to get to at least Oklahoma before I could get Yuengling. 

 

One little spot south of Chicago they had it on tap. That was not one of my best performances 😂

I hadn't really thought about it, but I think you are correct.  We have lived on the river for 25 years and we see vultures, hawks, (never seen an owl in the tree), and eagles.  I don't pay much attention to the birds unless it is the bald (or golden) eagle.  They really just do command their space like no other bird.  Even my dog ignores all birds except the eagles and then she barks at them.

 

And to think,the turkey was almost our national bird.

Getting up close to any large predatory bird is something else. Went to some kind of seminar thing some years ago where a zoologist had a massive great horned owl being treated for an injury and a planned release. The size and power of the talons is remarkable, and the way they fly completely silent (to our ears) is awesome.

A really great guy runs a program out here called Raptor View Research Institute.  They band and tag 'em and then track their migration routes.  I think, if you wanted to be a part of it and tag birds, etc. you can sign up for it.  We have been asked to do it, but I am a little skeptical of my bravery in the face of talons, beaks, and a pissed off bird.

Surprisingly, Prospect Park, just blocks away from us and smack in the middle of millions of people

 

Has 240 bird species, some permanent some migratory/seasonal, and you’ll see lots of binocular toting watchers hiding out to get glimpses of rarer species 

 

One time we were standing near this little pond and a Great Blue heron cruised in all majestic for a graceful landing. 
 

And that painted bunting caused quite a stir amongst the birdwatching crowd lol

 

Actually just yesterday we saw this red tailed hawk with that little bird seemingly following it around. I wasn’t sure why, but I googled it and apparently smaller birds harass the hawks to get them to leave their areas.

I had never heard of Yeungling until they got it on tap at my old course. That was the beer of choice among my old group called the Miura Mafia

I never heard of Yuengling until last year when I found a golf ball with a Yuengling logo on it.  Since I'd never heard of the beer I thought it was a golf ball brand I'd never heard of... until I did the obligatory googling of it.

No kidding. I run into this all the time in my career. What I like to ask is what is someone doing with all that data? Turning it into information? Into action? Improvement?

 

 Most of the time it’s make-work stuff and a waste of time.

On second thought, yelling this would very likely get me thrown out of any of my son’s competitions. You do not talk to the ref, and I’m totally ok with that. 👍🏼

Also, I have a friend who writes a lot of stuff down on his scorecard.  He usually putts first and finishes out, then begins his scorecard novella.  It's been about 5 years since he last saw me hole a birdie or even make a 5 footer for par.  The only time he saw me make an eagle was when I asked him to record it on my phone.  Otherwise his head is buried in his scorecard while everyone else is putting.

Which brings up another topic... a pet peeve of mine.  Couple of golf guys I know make more 10 - 15 footers than I do.  They always charge the cup ala never up never in.  Except when they go 4-5 feet past the hole and then rake it away and give themselves the putt.  Hell, I'd make a lot more of those putts too, if I didn't have to keep in mind the putt coming back.  Mini rant.
