I should never test putters with Chrome Softs because I'm disappointed when I get the club on the course

 

With all the talk about feel in this thread, I'm surprised no one mentioned the effect of a ball's composition on the feel and sound of a putter until this post. I never judge a putter's subjective qualities and make comparisons with other putters until I've rolled a bunch of putts with it using the same type of ball I use on the course.

This may be the first item that I searched for on the BST forum and came up empty.

Does everyone like these so much they aren't selling or has Ping priced themselves out on this...At 300 are people just paying the bit extra and buying a Scotty?

Maybe people just like the putter and don't want to sell it. They're all over eBay though. While I'm happy with my Vault, the Sigma feels about as good and tested better than the Vault according to MGS.

They come up for sale on here now and then but not as often as other putters. They probably didn't do a huge volume of them and people are happy with them.

I have the Voss and i like the simple clean lines on it, but Im still trying to dial it in. Puts a really nice roll on the ball, but the TR grooves require a firmer stroke vs. my Redwood. Keep leaving putts 6-12" short, or over-compensating and blowing it 2' past. it's almost like I need to retrain my muscle memory. What model are you looking at?

I rolled the Vault Anser 2 at the local GG and it is really nice. Firm, not clicky, with the right amount of feedback, for me at least. I still like my 1966 TR so I wouldn't get another Anser but am seriously contemplating a Vault Arna. I hated the PP62 grip though. Would probably just get a midsize PP58.

The PP60 seems to be smaller than the PP62 even though it's called a midsize. Great tacky feel like a Super Stroke. It is also tapered.

I have a Voss and love the way the PP62 fits in my hand...but I feel like I get absolutely no feedback from the club. I am either leaving puts 2" short or hitting 3' past the cup.

I tried the ladies Arna and really liked the look and feel of it. I'm thinking of a black Arna with the Pingman midsize grip too.

The Arna is a beautiful putter. No glare, stainless steel, and slightly better feeling. The problem is that Ping messed up with the grip on the Vaults. At least have a few models with standard Pingmans at your local golf stores to give people options.

Agreed. Good putters afflicted by a grip that hides its charms.

The PP60 is a great grip and available on ebay. Just put one on my Kevin Burns 9306. On my Rife, I have the Winn PP62 from a couple years ago. Much better than the PP62 on the Vaults and an excellent grip for slight arc mallets.

Tried these out at a golf store and really liked the feel. I also really like the new Ping grips on both these and the Sigma G putters.

Played 3 rounds with my Voss and I gotta say, I'm amazed how well the milled TR grooves perform. I don't have the most consistent stroke and the greens are just now starting to break dormancy, but I'm impressed with proximity to the cup on a less than ideal stroke. I never really cared for the feel of the TR grooves in Ping's earlier models, but the milled putter combined with the PP58 midsize grip has a great feel. It's taken a lot of practice over the last month to adjust my pace to the TR grooves (vs my Redwood D66), but now that I've dialed it in, I'm expecting big things from my putting this season. In fact, I've downsized my putter collection and really lost a lot of desire to hoard many more.

Guess I've had it for 4 months maybe 5. Never loved a putter so much, Anser 2 Vault. Haven't tried the Sigma, didn't really want to. But that grip sucks, I pulled it went with PP58 Pingman midsize, then up to a SS 2.0. couldn't beat the true feel of the PP58, but lost a little control. Roll so true.

I rolled one the other day at Carl's Golfland, liked the head shape but not the feel. Ended up with a Evnroll, much better feel and roll. The thing is I'm a Ping guy, my whole bag is Ping but love that Evnroll.

Plymouth had the Arma, but ended up going to West Bloomfield to try the Evnroll. Plymouth doesn't have any Evnrolls in stock. I wanted to try the Scotty Cameron Crown against the Evnroll and for me the Evnroll was hands down the best. Ended up ordering a R2 33" 385 head. Now the wait!
