Evnroll Putters-- Amazing!!!

Recommended Posts

I played a couple rounds this weekend. I only had one 3-putt and it was an operator error on the read.

Impressions (ER2) - The distance control is the real deal. There isn't any pure marketing hype here. It's real. I made putts from horrible strokes. I made putts from great strokes. Everything died right around the cup. I'm a pretty decent putter but I struggle finding the middle all the time.

One thing of note - the sweet-spot on the putter didn't seem to be as "hot" as I thought it would be. In other words, pured putts didn't go as far as my mind's-eye expected. This took a bit to get use to but there was no issue once my expectations changed. Furthermore, putts hit poorly just kept rolling and rolling. There were times when i left my posture immediately after a bad putt only to see it almost go in. The putter makes you look like a fool in that regard.

I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I look forward to putting now.

Hoping some of you owners can help me. Do the mallets (ER6, ER7, ER8) sound tingy?

Is this normal. Looks like the the groove is peeling.

The grooves are paintfilled with gray paint and it looks like some of it is flaking out.

The grooves are milled stainless, not paint.

Played mine a few rounds - ER1. Didn't work for me with the counterbalanced grip. Changed out to a Winn midsize pistol and still not my cup of tea. Not great for touch putts as compared to my X5 and Bettinardi. Probably going to sell with both grips.

Any reason you went with the ER1 vs one of the mallets/hatchbacks? Seems like it's pretty far away on the putter spectrum from the X5.

a few rounds with the number 5 and so far so good - I actually find it awesome to line up the short ones .... Left to right sliders are easier to line up - the right to left ones were better with the scotty blade, Give it a few more rounds but I like it.

Feel is a bit "tingy" though

I've been going between the Bettinardi BB8 and the X5. The ER1 is between the two size wise. Just not the same feel (to me)

Had my ER5 since last year now and it's staying in the bag. The last 2 months I have been between 28-31 putts per round. Previous years 32-34 was average.

Hey just looking for some input from anybody that has rolled a bunch of the Evnroll models. I've always gamed a larger mallet type putter...ping ketsch, TM daddy long legs, Odyssey tank 7, etc. From what I've been told, my stroke isn't necessarily SBST but the arc is minimal. I've hit some putts with the hatchback (er5?) but wasn't a huge fan. Not sure if it was the smaller head size or what exactly. I was thinking I'd get an ER7 since it is probably closest to what I've been playing. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Got mine #5 out a couple more times recently. Still loving it and getting used to it so every round feels like I'm putting better than the previous one. Distance control and accuracy is spot on. Made a 70ish footer today, longest putt I think I've ever made in a round.

anyone had peeling between the face grooves? I've seen a few on eBay that didn't look so great. wondering if it's a common or rare thing. also I see some that have dings in the grooves too. probably not too big a deal performance wise, but is it soft enough that they get beat up easily?

No issues with mine. Some guys just don't take care of their stuff.

Some might not look after them but the paint in the grooves does peel away very easy. Mind did and all I did was remove a bit of grit with my nail.

You don't notice this though and the feel is great.

Tried one at PGATSS the other day. Rolled really well, but felt like a hollow piece of metal.

I have an ER2 and it can feel that way when I miss the center. Anything 1/8" outside that feels hollow and has a somewhat tingy sound.

Dead center strikes feel solid and produce a nice sound, but for some I just can't hit the center consistently. I think it may be to heavy for me.

I will say it puts a good roll on the ball no matter where you hit it on the face.

Slipped out to the PGATSS over lunch to try out the ER1 and I was thoroughly impressed. I want to try the ER2 as well but the ER1 is closest to what I am playing today (Byron Morgan 007) in terms of size and head shape so I thought it was the best place to start.

Like others, I was initially coming up a touch short so had to reset my distance feel a bit but the consistency was outstanding. Once I got used to it, I almost couldn't miss including putts out to 20/25 feet. In comparison, my distance control with the Byron was way less consistent. Admittedly, the carbon steel Byron felt alot softer but I just wasn't as consistent with it and frankly, it wasn't really that close. Additionally, putts with the Byron had a tendency to tail off a bit to the right at the very end (last foot or so) where as the ER1 had them rolling true to the very end.

In addition to my Byron I also compared the ER1 to a Scotty Newport 1.5, a Bettinardi BB1F and a Tourlon Long Island. The ER1 came out on top though the Tourlon was sweet as well, not sure I've ever hit a putter that felt softer than that one. In the end though, it was the consistency that really stood out. Felt like I could sit there and drain 5 foot putts all day long without even trying.

I've been gaming this Byron for nearly 10 years now (bought it in 2007) and I've never even been tempted to switch (except for possibly going to a DH89). I don't make this kind of change lightly and will definitely do more testing, including with my own ProV1s and in a very controlled setting, but let's just say I'm very, very intrigued...

Is there a reason why the ER2 seems to be more popular than the ER1? Is there an actual feel/stability difference, or is it really just preference?
It's all personal preference. I felt more comfortable with the longer faced ER1 vs the shorter ER2. Also prefer the shorter back on the ER1. Both great choices. I put a new Ping PP60 grip on and an 80 gram plug in the shaft and love it! I track stats and have had only one 3-putt in my last 7 rounds, and most of my putts end up tap in range. Knocked 3-4 strokes off my rounds. Love putting again! Good luck!
