Evnroll Putters-- Amazing!!!

Recommended Posts

Forgive me for not reading through 27 pages of Evnroll putter dialogue, but the complete lack of tour usage of this putter (on any tour) is a bit of an indictment. Spare me the "pay to play" glibness--if this putter was the shizzle, it would be on tour, end of. So explain to me how a putter of such apparent quality and accuracy cannot be found in any notable professional golfer's bag. Not an Evnroll hater here either, just curious.

I don't understood why "use on the PGA tour" should be a factor when deciding on what equipment an amateur golfer should consider. Case in point, the Mizuno JPX 900 driver. Zero tour use and set somehow lots of us still manage to hit the hell out of the thing... must be some sort of gap in the space time continuum because obviously it isn't a very good driver if no one on the tour is using it.

I'm still on the fence whether to switch to an EvnRoll but it has nothing to do with seeing one on tour.

P.S. Not many Byron Morgan putters on tour either. Does that mean Byron doesn't build great putters?

I get you. I don't base my purchases on what the pros play. It just seems odd that it has no presence as the reviews, from many sites and individuals have been glowing. Sure, I get it that "pay to play' is the norm, but there are so many exceptions out there-- Tour Edge, non-Ping players gaming Ping gear, non'TMag players with Spider Tours (OK, could be a putter only deal?) SeeMore (very little $, if any) etc. My point is that there are a lot of pros that play gear that they are not paid to play, and Evnroll isn't one of those brands, which is conspicuous when the putter is the most important stick in the bag. Pros would play a branding iron if they thought it would save strokes. I wonder if there is something about the putter that does not appeal to pros? Or perhaps it is just that Evnroll is too new and over time they will get some pro usage?

. The biggest thing I have noticed is the consistency on mishits the ball still gets to the hole. Guessing the pros may not see much benefit since they hit it in the sweet spot 99% of the time. I'll take all the help I can get.

It's all about money. Pros are getting paid to play a brand.

Hard to say. You hear stories of guys putting $50 putters into play so not everyone is gaming a $3,000 Cameron 009. As the one guy said, they are just getting started and so may not have actually gained much notice on tour yet.

Personally I would look for them to show up on the senior tour first, I am guessing there is not as much sponsorship money on the line so they would be more likely to put something in play just because it works well for them.

Ian Poulter played a Rife blade several years ago and there were several Sr tour guys rolling Rife putters.

Pay to play is real. My jaw dropped when I found out TM pays non-contractual tour players $75,000 to play their driver.

I'll buck the trend here. Bought an Evnroll ER6 in red and hated it. Really can't explain why but I just didn't feel the love at all. I rolled the black one in store and really liked it.

The Red, well for whatever reason it never suited my eye and I disliked the look and feel of it from the off. I also thought the grip was horrible. Just too big and clumsy and the ridge to pronounced.

Crawford, long time no see. Good to see you are still playing.

I have had an ER1 for a year now, which is a personal best by some distance.. They're no substitute for technique but when you use them properly the roll is so pure.

You still @ WKGC?

Anyone have any comparison pics of the ER5 to an odyssey 7? Just want to see size wise how it compares.
no comparison pics, but the tank is slightly bigger. My ER5 is slightly bigger than the early number 7 Odyssey models. Just the right size to my eye. Very good putter. Not changing it after 12 months now.

ER5 smaller, much more comparable to the odyssey fang.

Also has anybody talked with anybody at EVNROLL about if they'll release any models with more toe hang? I bought some putters about 3 months ago but returned them all because I was fit into about 45-60* of toe hang, I think the most any of the ER's have is 30 or so.

I'd be all over something in the 45* area, regardless of shape or looks. These things felt so nice off the face and I really do believe the technology works.

I actually just spoke to Justin from Evnroll about this yesterday. The top picture if the first version of the ER5. More of a high pitched "ting" sound. The bottom picture, without "303 SS" is the newer version which has a more muted sound.

I actually have one of the first version models and am looking to trade it for another model if anyone is interested!

Noticed some don't even have the big block "ER5" on the bottom. Must be a version change. Which ones are newer though? Pictures below...

No, pro's would NOT play a branding iron if it would save strokes. You don't understand the mentality or how coddled they are but they believe their presence or time is worth money.

They are also very cliquey when it comes to equipment. When the entire field has an 009 or something they're immediately more interested.

Every major OEM can make equipment that will work for any tour player...especially with club fitting vans and expert club builders onsite at every event. The question is who is going to pay them the most and give them the most attention and publicity. Honestly the biggest equipment decision is probably the golf ball...and even Bubba chased the money when he went to Volvik.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. So from what Justin told you, it's simply a sound adjustment? Just ordered an older version and wondering if I should look for a newer one. It's pretty stupid that the Evnroll website still shows the "original" 303ss model in the picture on the ER5 product page.

I picked up a ER-1 from a member here and the finish on the putter is outstanding and it sits beautifully at address. The technology that is advertised I belive

delivers on the promise of rolling the ball pure off the face and corrects on heel and toe strikes. I took the putter to my course to get a feel for it on the putting green and it was a bit of a challenge controlling distance on longer putts. ( outside of 10 feet ). I put it in the bag and played a round at Bulle Rock and managed to put pretty good with it however there were many occasions that I rolled the ball 6 foot or more past the hole. This is a deal breaker for me and my Scotty Cameron Newport 2 is back in the bag after 1 round. The Evnroll ER-1 does what's advertised but it's not for me.

Haha, giving up after what couldn’t be more than 50 total putts? If you want to stick with the Scotty, then by all means... but the ER2 took me a couple weeks to get used to it!

The counter balance weighting and overall weight will make me completely change my putt stroke so yes.... Call me crazy. I shot 80 and took 40 bucks from my buddies so don't get me wrong I think the putter is top quality. I'm just not ready to get over every putt and stress about my distance control.

I hear you on the counter balancing part. I'm looking at buying an ER5 but I'll probably put a regular weight grip on it.

The ER-1 I purchased from another WRX member was a 35" with a 370 gram head with the red rubber Evnroll grip so I think it was a custom fitted putter since the 370 gram head is for a 34" putter. I pulled the grip and found a counter weight plug in the shaft before i cut it down to 34" .

Before I took off an inch it was E-5 Swing weight now it's C7 ish

By no means do I want to rain on your parade but you just hacked the whole premise to a great putter. If you have read anything at all on these putters you would have seen video reviews and more that tell you the reason for each weight of the putter heads as well as the counterweight reason. I just would ask one question. Would you hack up a scotty that was brand new?

If you really knew what you were talking about you would know that the 370 gram head is designed for a 34" putter. The putter I bought used apparently was made for someone that specifically wanted a E5 swing weight putter at 35". I called Evnroll and spoke to Justin and he confirmed this was most likely the case.

So yes....I know what I did and what I'm talking about.... Maybe check your info before posting...

My ER5 is definitely cooling off - I still don't miss the short ones but having a heck of a time on the right to left putts - I just play too much break and it wasn't a problem with my newport.

I got the ER5 coming from bettinardi qb6. I loved my bettinardi but I am putting so much better with the ER5. I have always played blade putters so going to a fang/mallet type putter was an adjustment I had to make but I cant argue with the results.

Hi all - having read all your posts prior to testing and then buying an Evnroll, firstly thanks, and secondly my 2penny worth.

Moving from a Scotty Fastback - Scotty was a big investment so not tempted lightly - found over the last 30 yrs that I like a mallet, and the more half cup shaped the better - ER-8 or 7 seem made for me - always used 35" shafts, but 34" about all you can get over here, and maybe it was time to join the modern trend - Picked up an ER-8 and spent several hours on putting green, and just had first round in pretty damp conditions, but first impressions are very impressive - feel is a little strange, weight distribution and larger grip to blame. but you can tell the roll is smoother and more immediate - I don't really think about distance, leave that to to the auto pilot, but even with the change in feel and length of shaft, nearly every length put was within 18 inches of the hole, and for first time I can remember, they were all up to or past the hole - possibly a little less turn on the ball, which might be due to the better rolling, so I was tending to over borrow - couple of long ones went in, and it was as though they poured themselves into the hole, hugging the ground all the way - so looking forward to getting to master this instrument - recommending to all at club to check them out, though not easy to come by yet. Only downside is the white head cover - fine for your sunny dry climates, but here in N West England with Autumn and Winter approaching, I have switched it for a dark Scotty Select headcover - all the better for fooling light fingered types into thinking I only have a Scotty!!! Will let you know if hit a problem, but early impressions are that Mr Rife is onto a winner here, and I doff my cap to him.

I have the old ER5 version. Unless you think about it, trust me the sound matters not a jot.
