I gamed a Rife Barbados in the belly variety in college. Have since chopped it down to 38" and put a counterbalance grip in. No chance I'm not going to pick up one of the Evnroll Barbados lookalikes as pictured above in the same setup.

^^^ New putter grip on the bottom/lowest putter in the picture. Looks intriguing with the flat front in the low hand.

For those that complain about the noise of the ER5, I have a few observations. Yes, it is shaped like a tuning fork. With this, it will create some "different" sounds/vibrations.

The best sound/feel that comes off of this putter is when you a) use a premium soft golf ball (ProV1, Chrome Soft, etc.) and b) hit the sweet spot of the face. A proper set-up and stroke will result in a traditional feel and sound. I appreciate the feedback, and the roll off of the face is exceptional.

Yesterday I bought the ER5 at 34". Had a long detailed fitting and that beat my existing putter and others on a Quintic Roll test. I had it bent from 71 to 69 to suit me and I tweaked the loft to 4 degrees for an average 1.3 launch.

The numbers were amazing. A lot of blues(great) and greens(good). The best aspects were it being so anti twist and the forward roll.

Very costly, but the finish and quality can be seen and felt in hands. The balance for me felt, so right.

Not convinced about the grip, so I have ordered a 59g Winn jumbo lite. Kept the 30g counterweight once the stock 54g grip was off.

I will report on how I fair with it.

PS: I blacked out the white alignment line to match up to the sharpie line I put on my ball.9686ad39a8e035bb93e56e5546aa5812.jpgbdaef4fc646bf89b8f1ceee03de9a747.jpg2583f64f3af74581d3ff05b1d6b5a45c.jpg34fbe4eafac206f0cdef3383995b1339.jpga89aa754ecea35e430dd15e1e7a327a3.jpgd43b4fe2a4f2441bc8a830ff9c8524de.jpge2f40eb6a73041cc87666edbb0ba6bd6.jpg

Guerin pretty much invented groove technology in putters, so that was a Revolutionary technology. Almost every manufacturer has adopted some sort of groove technology or something similar. So I would say that is revolutionary. So he had Rife Putters(which started it all) then he had EVN ROLL, what company am I missing? Whether EVNROLL technology is revolutionary, I would say is up to the user. My distance control is better, making more short putts, and three putting less. My mid-range putting is close to the same or maybe a little better, but that was not ever a problem area for me.

The company you are missing is GUERIN. GolfWorks still sells the product. They probably have a lot left.

http://www.golfworks...tter/p/GR2010A/

As far as "groove technology" being revolutionary--False! It's a marketing gimmick. Always has been and always will be. Even the MGS article notes that groove technology designed to "get the ball rolling sooner" is a bunch of bunk. Even if the ball rolls sooner there is no evidence it helps a golfer make more putts. That's the point of putting improvements and groove technology fails.

From MGS:

Some putter grooves have been shown to produce forward roll more quickly than others. You've probably seen the videos. It sounds great, doesn't it? But did you know that there's absolutely no evidence to suggest that a ball that starts rolling faster goes in the hole more often? The reality is, most putter grooves don't matter.

As an aside, I suspect EVNROLL is going to get a cease and desist letter from Ping because the face looks like the TR milling. Same concept. Ping is very aggressive in protecting its intellectual property.

For the most part I agree with your point of view. However, some things can be measured in a controlled, lab environment......forward roll versus skid, consistent line and distance, line and distance of center hits versus toe/heel hits, etc. I think OEM's assume these marginal improvements carry to the real world where it's very difficult to show any advantage. Way too many variables to account for on a grass putting surface.

ping grooves are uniform. These are asymmetrical

This is a good and interesting story although there are so few pics, however the videos tell the whole technical story.

Yesterday I decided to roll all my putters on the carpet and the best performing was a Rife Aruba I got brand new and pretty cheap a couple of years ago. I believe this putter was made when Rife was Guerin's company.

I bought the Rife Aruba online for two reasons, it's a beautiful dalehead putter and I love Aruba. This putter features what I'd call the first generation grooves produced by Guerin Rife and it works pretty well. Yesterday I hole more putts with it than with any other putter I have. So, it's going to the bag for tomorrow round.

It seems that there is some Koolaid out there and I just find a golf store close to me that sells these putters, now I have to visit them and try those putters.

I wish I could try those new

FWIW...

I, like many of us on here, am a gear whore. I go through too many drivers and 3 woods. Not sure why since those are the 2 least used clubs in my bag on any given round of golf... I am not loyal to vokey, scratch, TM, callaway, or cleveland wedges, though I have gamed each of those brands.

The 1 club i rarely change is the putter. I bought my first real putter in 2002 (odessey 2 ball). Since then I have changed it 3 times (Circa 62, Ping Scottsdale w/ TR grooves, and Ping Anser 5 - the bronze colored one).

I am a 4.6 HC and a "decent" putter. I read and watched youtube videos about these putters. I was skeptical but intrigued. I went to the PGA superstore in Palo Alto, CA (yeah i still get to golf this time of year) and putted with the ER1 for 45min... it is a beautifully built putter. Everything about it suit my eye and ear (just not the price tag)... irregardless of the tech, this is a beautifully crafted putter that instills confidence (for me) at address... assuming the videos of the testing are real, then the tech in this putter is just the cherry on top.

FWIW I follow Sheils, Crossfield, and Brandon from Be Better Golf on youtube they they all have great reviews of this putter. Believe in the tech or not, still an amazing putter.

Had my first round with my 35" ER1... it could be the joy of a new putter, or the taste of the gallons of kool-aid i drank, or i magically turned into a solid putter over night... whatever it was, and whatever it wasn't, I LOVE this putter.

Looks so solid at address. Ball feels AMAZING off the face. I made back to back 15+ footers to save par. Lag putts left me tap-ins, and made a few easy 5 footers for birdie... I told my buddy about this putter and called me a fool, on #9 he said this might have been the best investment I've ever made for my golf game. He told me that even on my best day of putting (we golf 98% of our rounds together) he had never seen me putt like I did today and asked where he could go "check it out".

This one is staying in the bag for a long while!!

Looks like they are coming out with some new models this year!! The red ER6 is going black and getting more alignment aids. I finally got to roll one last week and I was pleasantly surprised at how soft it felt. Granted it was using very low compression balls, but I expected more of a firm click feel like my Ping putter.

I may be bagging one in 2017.

What's the story with these putters and the company? I really hadn't heard a thing about them until I got an email today from MGS about "the best putter we've ever tested (game- changing technology)". Well, color me intrigued, but the MGS review reads like a infomercial more than an unbiased review.

I read that article and I call B.S. I generally like MGS and have donated money to them before, but the article was crap. "The ball curves toward the hole." Nope, sorry, I don't buy putters that defy physics because that just tells me the source isn't credible. I expect MGS to endorse the Overspin putter next. Talk about a credibility free fall.

It makes me wonder if MGS was paid for that "review."

Edit - Now that I think of it, Guerin Rife is on his 3rd putter company. Each one had so-called revolutionary technology. Yeah, that or a marketing champ pulling the levers.

I didn't see the ball curving towards the hole on mis-hits, I did notice that my mis-hits didn't seem to go as far offline(left or right of center), and I didn't notice a big distance discrepancy(mis-hits ending up way short) as I saw with other putters.

He also released the Guerin tour spec lines after Rife before EVNROLL.

1. Rife

2. Guerin

3. EVNROLL

what's next?

I was fitted for a Guerin Tour Spec blade.... great feel but didn't pull the trigger.

Picked one up today after hitting the ER2 on the spot. The "tech" does work. Hit putts straight at hole from centre, toe and heel. Very weird to see the ball hold its line and not move far right or left on the off centre hits. Tried a few other putter brands and style and nothing came close to the evnroll as to what it did in terms of ball movement.

Nothing more to say than what has already been said, but here are my observations.

- not the softest putter feel. My miura and Scotty felt better

- you do need to hit the putts harder because of the grooves.

- the ball actually does move back to line. Not like a curve ball but it does. None of my other putters did that.

- my other putters are now for sale.

Great putter

I saw on another site the new evnroll putters for 2017 (4 new models). I do not want to paste their photos here, though the E8 Tour mallet catches my eye.

No mention of Lefty versions in the article...but in the comments, someone mentioned that Lefty options will be available in March.

I have the ER6 and have had some decent days with it but overall have struggled. I have a SBST stroke and a tendency to miss right rather than left and I am finding the little bit of toe hang is exacerbating this. I am putting it away for a while and going back to my Yes Sandy. I may have a look at the Odyssey toe hang as an alternative.

I would prefer the EVNROLL to be a true face balanced putter rather than try to compensate for problems some might have.

I've got the ER3 and am very impressed with it so far. The tech is legit, mishit lag putts that you are certain will come up well-short seem to roll out more than they have a right to. I also love the 385gm head- very stable not the shorter putts.

Correct. It is "near" face balanced. Maybe one of the new ones will be closer? The ER7 and E8 Tour have potential to be face balanced. Have not seen the specs yet.

I've been in contact with EVNROLL personally. They told me they should be available in stores by March. I would assume logistically that this means they might actually already have a few LH versions available for test at their HQ, if you live in the area.

I'm confused as to why the milled grooves on the face look different in certain pictures...

In the picture above by carn9698, you can clearly see that the grooves on the face are larger toward the heel side of the putter and taper down moving toward the toe.

But in the pics below the grooves look completely symmetrical...
