Tiger's clubs for Safeway (Photo added page 19)

Recommended Posts

The whole "insider" issue wouldn't limited to Tiger's Nike portfolio. The announcement had an impact on the whole industry and related vendors to that industry. Take a look at what happened to Callaway stock after the Nike announcement.

The rumor of TW being a "front man" with an investment group looking to purchase TaylorMade Golf will be interesting to follow. If true, I can almost guarantee that the SEC will look at that purchase, especially if TW is involved.

Again, I believe TW found out that Nike Golf would be exiting the equipment business on 8/3 just like everyone else. I think from a Nike, Inc. perspective, the less that know before a public announcement, the less risk to them that something stupid happens that they really can't control.

Nike's stock increased 10% in the weeks following their announcement to get out of the golf business. Someone could have made a quick buck. I'm not sayin' it was Tiger, I'm just sayin' someone could have taken advantage of the market's positive response to Nike's announcement if they had known before hand. That's a big if.

There's so much riding on this WITB shoot.

I hope his SLR camera can fully capture the mizuno badged irons, that are actually debadged Nikes forged by Mirua but smuggled into TWs bag by Navy Seals and then dusted off with the wings of albino bumble bees.

Off to Costco to stock up on popcorn and Diet Coke for next weeks forums. It's gonna be a blood bath on here.

Have a great golfing weekend gang!

If it's a Taylor Made driver, I bet it's the M1 430 or the M2. They are DEEP! And I'm sure through testing, TW found out how much better other drivers were from other manufacturers. The Mizuno irons are a no-brainer, but the Bridgestone ball will be interesting to see, if it's true. I'm betting on the B330-S since Tiger has always preferred a "softer" feel. Should be fun to watch!

I believe that Tiger will continue playing the Nike clubs he has been playing. To do anything else, would imply that he had been playing clubs he felt were inferior and did not like for all of these years.

Players move to new tech all the time, that is no longer an option with Nike. Why delay the inevitable change, he's had a perfect opportunity to test equipment. I could see it for the first or second event but in the long run I don't see him playing Nike for life like many people keep saying.

My guess is that Tiger is still under his Nike club contract and while they obviously have a close relationship, they would still want to milk these last few tournaments out of Tiger's clubs except for the putter

I believe when they announced they stopped production on equipment staffers were no longer bound by their contract. Most of the Nike staffers are using non Nike equipment already.

Players have begun testing, but according to the Nike guys I spoke with at the Nike College Invitational this week nobody has made a permanent change in equipment...yet. Next week might be different.

Tiger said he tests everyone's equipment routinely to see where his equipment stands against it, so he's well aware what's out. Nice attempt at an inferior Nike troll post

Also, tiger likes a little click, not super soft. Spinny, yes but not super soft

What makes Kuch's ball so different? Is it custom or can you buy it in the stores?

No clue WHAT is different about it but it is apparently a ridiculously good ball. outside of Kuch I don't know who plays it. No, this ball is not available to anyone outside the PGA tour. This includes WEB.com players. many people would be surprised by this but when it comes to custom balls or Pro only balls A LOT of if not most companies will only give them to PGA tour players because they don't make a ton of them. You would have to be someone really special to get them. Take for example Charley Hoffman's hat that he wears. There are other players on the PGA tour that wear it but they will not give it out to players on the WEB.COM tour. If you see one of them with one on it's because they had status on the PGA tour and got them then. Lot's of companies save things for guys that reach the top of the top.

Matt Kuchar 100% plays retail spec B330S. Same as what we all can buy in stores. His ball is available for everyone to play.

He's got to be playing a bonded driver right? He's never played adjustable and nothing's been on the usga conforming list yet. I'll take the tweet with a grain of salt.

I don't think anyone, taylormade included, is going to build TW a one-off bonded driver without a club contract. It may happen at some point, but if he's not playing his Nike driver, I doubt whatever he's hitting will be bonded.

Why would the company have to 'build' him a one off driver? He could go to any custom club builder. Get whatever head he likes and build a dozen with whatever shafts he likes. They would all be legal and it's like buying a steak dinner (for him) money wise.

The reason he would and the reason the company would do it for him is that he then has the manufacturing company creating the club instead of a third party... There's no reason he wouldtake it to a fitter unless he has some special reason to because the tour vans take care of things on the fly and the company can do things that fitters can't, like make a smaller version of a driver head that doesn't come in a smaller size to the public. Regardless of whether or not he has signed a contract, he may be paid by these companies to use the clubs being discussed, albeit probably not the amount of a full sponsorship, but when you put something in Tiger's hands on a golf course people buy it.

I remember a while back that Tiger wasn't completely happy with his Nike ball so the ball change I can see. His Nike ball was good when he was hitting a cut but the draw didn't spin enough and that was why he was having issues with the block right. Even if 1 thing in his bag is not Nike, it will blow people's minds
