Tiger's clubs for Safeway (Photo added page 19)

Tiger said today at the clinic that he'd be using he putter that he won 13 majors with. I'm assuming that was his Scotty Cameron Newport GSS?

The very one. That news excites me the most, as a putter guy. Not surprising that he'd go back to what actually worked.

Tiger is going to get more than a little tee up money, but not break the bank levels like he used to get. Huge incentive-laden deals is the only way he'd made monster money.

Lol. And after all that...

I really wasn't surprised by this. Nike has had his specs dialed in for years. I have no doubt he's been trying different OEM's the last month or so but to completely revamp his bag only a couple months before his "announced" first tournament I thought would be unlikely.

Tai has some closeups on his Instagram. V Forged and VR Pro wedges. What's under the Tiger headcover though?!

He was hitting his Nike driver at the clinic today. All Nike clubs, wedges included. Nike ball as well. He said he had enough balls to last 3 years.

IF it is TM, doesn't it almost HAVE to be the M1 unless they make a one-off??? Based on his previous choices of driver shape alone of course.

Edit: just saw Tai speculate on the M2. Not sure I'd put my money against that but if I'm right I'll still say I called it!

Could TaylorMade make a 430 M2 glued hosel in a few weeks?

His swing is steeper and more compact. That should go a long way towards eliminating that pesky pull-hook that showed up every now and then (my analysis). He said he gained more clubhead speed as well. Makes sense.

Why is he so married to the bonded driver?

The clean look at address and the increased shaft install depth causes much different shaft feel , also allows more weight bias towards the toe vs the heel be use of the shaft adapters weight.

May be a dumb question or a repeat, but what is the deal with the bonded driver? Why does he insist on having a non-adjustable driver?

Because he's a special snowflake.

The same reason a guy who can't keep it on the planet plays the highest spin ball possible. He thinks he knows something everyone else doesn't.

Tour van can bend to any spec. There is a feel difference for some players. TW isn't the only one.

lol feel difference

In one of the videos, TW is describing his swing change and he mentions "we". He is still working with Como? I thought no, but didnt hear anything official since he's been out commission for over a year.

Unfortunately we may have to wait until January to find out as Tiger's back is so bad, he can't hit an 8 iron 145 yards. I can't imagine him playing a split bag as the big boys will write giant checks to have him on board. The Taylormade MB is nothing more than a MP 33/29 ripoff that feels like a cast club next to a Mizuno blade. He can go back and forth between the M1/M2 and play whatever ball he wants. In a perfect world the guy would play a Titleist driver, MP 5's, Vokeys and his old Scotty Newport but that ain't gonna happen. Even guys with a net worth over $600 mil like to get paid. Maybe Titleist will empty the bank account and get him back.

Won't happen. No one is emptying the bank for a guy who may or may not play much at all again. Nike folded partly because Tiger has been virtually non-existent the last few years. He's not worth the risk. Someone will sign him, but I think Rory or Day will earn more for their club deals.

It is true that is isn't likely to sign a big club deal. TM has spent their money already for their big names and a house full of fringe players. But they have been making some woods to test. He may have some other trials from others, but I don't know who. Probably the one company that might be willing to spent a little more than others, could be Parsons. He has a huge ego and he really isn't making any money on his club biz yet, so he may want a "trophy" although he likely couldn't get close to all of the bag if any. At this point I would expect a mixed bag with some small money for tee up money kind of a deal. Should be interesting, but everyone here in Napa is sad that he isn't here. He was supposedly playing very early Sat morning before he went to the Stanford game that evening. It is likely that something here told him his game wasn't going to make it. Steph Curry was disappointed also because he was to be TW's Pro-Am partner Wednesday.

I just got home from Napa and one of the pros told me that Steph Curry is "sick" and won't be playing now either.

Steph Curry... no body wants to see him. That's why Tiger dropped out in the first place. He just didn't want to play with Steph!

Don't mean to be that guy but why in the world would you play Nikes if not for cash. Those clubs, in a word, suck. Can't speak for him, but I doubt we ever see that horrible volt ever again on any of Tiger's clubs. Hopefully he has enough brains to go to Callaway, Titleist, or TM and start winning again while he's at it.

Yeah he or anyone else never won anything with Nike clubs... No one named Koepka, Finau, Casey, Chappell, or ummm MCILROY had any success with them this year. It is your opinion, and you are wrong.

swing does look smoother and easier -- it does look like he's ready but - is it b/c he's not scoring well or something? with a swing like that you'd think he'd be plenty capable of making cuts and getting back into the grind. do you think he realized he'd make more money at his demo than at safeway?

He was always planning on doing this clinic regardless of whether he played tomorrow. Hitting it well on the range for an hr is much different than going out and putting a score together on a professional course. On the range, you are in a rhythm hitting the shots. When you go to the course, you hit, wait, hit, wait. For someone with a bad back, that can become troublesome. There's also the stamina of 1hr on a range vs 36-72 holes where you have practice and competition involved - many hrs of work. Just much different.
