If Rahm beats DJ here, he has to be one of the favourites for the Masters. Tiger-like start to his PGA Tour career so far, comparisons with Woods coming into the 1997 Masters with 3 wins from turning pro in 1996.

 

Rahm is competing for the biggest events immediately, and if he wins this then his 5 events going into the Masters will be 1, t16, t5, t3, 1.

I agree 100% Golf Channel makes him a favorite, because the winner this week is always going to keep winning.

 

He looks good, has a strong record going, so has to be considered in the mix, but that tournament is wide open.

Jacobsen's "Smart play" comment on DJ's 63 yd approach is killing me. Rahm is chipping after a very good slash from the weeds. Why in the world is a 15 foot leave a "smart play" in that situation? They halved the hole with pars. Golf needs a major announcers overhaul. Zzzzzz fest every single week.

 

I agree. These guys in the golf media have been around for decades. They're old, tired and stale.

 

We're in a new generation with an exciting bunch of young guns lighting up golf. Bring that youth and excitement into golf media.

Yup. I don't know if our climate allows it. The US Open is early enough that it might not be above 100, but no way the PGA is ever played here. I've heard Trinity Forest could be a potential US Open candidate. I think the Nelson will be there next year.

Absolutely the worst TV coverage ever.....it's like an LPGA event.

They could at least show some of the consolation match instead of commercials.......

I've been saying for years that the PGA Championship should be moved to late September. August is just too brutal in the south and southeast. That would bring Texas into play.

Big issue with Match Play. Not enough golf actually being played, lots of time to kill.

 

And FWIW , Golf Channel'S LPGA coverage is pretty good, esp for a big event like this week
