US Open: Erin Hills

I don't understand how a 7800-yard course with narrow fairways can be that easy. I think these guys are just that good.

 

You can stack 3 757's side by side on these fairways. They are a joke.

In Ireland you can play some of the best courses in the country for around 50 euros, Druids Glen, The European Club, Mount Juliet, Kileen Castle all in that range for open comps same with portmarnock links and many others this course really doesn't compare to any of them in terms of natural beauty or iconic stand out holes. In the states there must be over 100 venues more worthy of holding a US open than Erin Hills

 

 

Yes, Ireland has good courses. I enjoyed RCD, RP, Bally, Lahinch, Portmarnock. All great tracks.

Length is absolutely useless weapon against these guys if there's no punishment for missing the target. There's absolutely nothing to these Par 5s other than "Go for it".

Can't blame any of the spectators for getting drunk. They got Koepka, Harman, Matsuyama, and Fleetwood putting for a U.S. Open.

 

Pretty much every tournament is won by who had the hot putter that week. But don't let that get in the way of your nonsensical babble

 

 

Yes, please repeat that myth. It's been mathematically proven false by Nate Silver at 538 that putting is not the most important factor in who wins most tournaments. Tee to Green wins. Not at a stretched muni dump with 60 yard wide fairways, though.

Last 2 years were drama on really entertaining golf courses this is definitely a fail in my eyes though.

 

Oakmont and Chambers Bay drama? These two were terrible as this one, imho drama was Augusta 2017 and Royal Troon

Some will disagree with me but the string of first time major winners isn't helping. A lot of great golfers who deserve it no doubt but I'm ready for the tiger-like dominance again.

 

The guy that plays the best wins it, its a pretty simple format.

It takes a lot more than just a good course to be able to host the US Open.

you need to get your eyes checked... I play narrower fairways pretty well everytime I tee it up.

you need to get your eyes checked... I play narrower fairways pretty well everytime I tee it up.

 

Invite me out next time. I'm always being paired up at my local munis, and people spend minutes on average looking for their tee shot after each hole.

-16 is not what we want to see, but it doesn't diminish Koepka's win. The greatest players outside of Phil showed up and most didn't make the cut. He won in dominating fashion today... period!

It's very much Mike and the USGA's fault. If this was at Wingged Foot, even with 6 inches of rain it'd be a very different story. These public courses are a joke. I'm sure there are US open worthy ones, but not chambers or Erin Hills
