Azinger is the new Miller

It's been brutal listening to this Open Coverage. Between Buck longing for Troy and his huge hands and Azinger's constant negative zingers...

Coverage of the US Open is much much better than the Masters. I wish all tournaments were this good.

False.

So very very false.

The US open might have better piped in bird sounds but that's it.

I think people are mistaking quantity for quality.

My guess is that if CBS used this technology at the Masters you would love it. But it's FOX so you hate it.

What don't you like about the technology? We can see the ball flight on every single tee shot while also seeing there it lands. How is that a bad thing?

Fox uses more of the Pro Tracer but there are diminishing returns on that. I like it but it's not always super informative.

Azinger is okay. Head and shoulders better than Greg Norman.

Can you first show me where I said I didn't like it?

Good luck in the quest to support your straw man.

Would you rather listen to the dulcet tones of Jim Nance? I like Azinger and Miller.

Yes. Please yes.

I enjoy Paul and Johnny. Enjoy Joe Buck as well...I think the coverage has been fantastic by just about everyone, top to bottom. Except for the dresses that Holly Sonders has worn, including the one with the stain on the left thigh area today, it has been top notch. She needs to tone it all down a bit...she doesn't need to try so hard.

Zinger's the type of commentator you always think has the potential to pull it off but always says something a little too amusing. To himself, haha.

Zinger during a slo-mo replay of Koepka from the high grass, something to the effect of: "Okay, ya wanna see power? Yeah, he takes that iron back, with those big Popeye forearms .... and just lets it eat." I was like, "...what?".

I find Azinger knowledgeable but ponderous. He speaks too often in expressions such as "pressure can bust a pipe" and so on. Seems like he is trying hard to add extra gravitas to the mix.

I miss Johnny. Blowhard yes, but sonehow not ponderous like Azinger. Remember when Johnny said something about Phil causing Ben Hogan to roll over in his grave? That was awesome.

Azinger has been there.........he was a feisty competitor till he had his bout with cancer.

Yes, and I know this thread is about his broadcasting which I also find a bit 'zingish' as do others. But in 1995, as my wife was recovering after her first year of breast cancer and we went to the Memorial Tournament, we went to watch Zinger play a practice round. She knew about his survival too, so he instantly became her favorite. We followed him for a practice round, and at the very end she stopped him to hopefully get his autograph, then told him about her first year of recovery. So he stopped and put everything aside, and they talked as if they had known each other forever. He was so kind and genuine. They talked about overcoming cancer and there was so much to live for. She was elated, and just thought he was super, which he was toward her that day, and me also actually. So now 22 years later both are doing well, and when I hear him broadcast, I do kind of snicker as well at some of the things he says, but will always remember how he encouraged my wife when he could have just blown the whole thing off as maybe some others would do.

I like azinger, been on the BBC for a while when it's major time and he's really good. He's added something different to the new commentary team over here....and I've been watching the US open on Fox, as sky is terrible just terrible!

Love the Zinger, he adds some spice to the telecast. Golf can be so boring on TV. He probably did the best academy shows this year I saw plus he lives in the Bay area.

I saw Johnny at the PGA show this year, a more gracious gentleman you will never meet. He signed everything people asked of him and spoke with everybody. It was treat to meet him. The same for Faldo at last years PGA Show.

I like them both. Especially Azinger.

Doing a golf telecast has to be much more difficult than say college basketball. 6-8 hours is a long time to find something interesting to say.

I like Zinger and Johnny Miller. Maybe I'm weird

No you're not weird...I don't know Zinger, but I had lunch with Miller...one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Great golfer, father, family man !!! #golflegend :)

Just ask him.
