PGA/USGA should find the perpetrators and institute a public hanging rule.. that'll show em.....

Yeah! That's totally the kind of world we should live in! Where it's ok to kill people if they don't act the way you approve!

HSS, I enjoy & generally agree with your posts. Do you really think the people venting about this really want people public hanged, beaten, strung up by their privates, etc? I think there should be a statement on the ticket: the terms of your purchase & use include an expectation of reasonably civil decorum. Violation of terms will result in removal from the venue. And then they should follow up & enforce it.

That's what I really think should happen. Do you disagree with this approach?

I sure hope not - and, no, I don't think they do anything more than bark. But that's kind of my point - sure, yelling random stuff, references to pop culture, is immature and goofy and not everyone is going to care for it. So is acting like a three year old and needing to smash something (it's a metaphor - the folks advocating violence, however vacuously) just because someone isn't acting the way you like. I'm not justifying the yellers, I'm asking those who bark on the internet how they justify their behavior? After all, you can only control your actions - and if the yellers are immature, how is it a reasonable thing to lash out with more immaturity?

I said it before - that's how my three year olds view the world. Grow up. It's not a contest to see who can be the biggest jackwagon, so rise above it if you don't like it - don't revert back to childhood and start making big tough guy internet threats that don't mean anything. Does that actually make people feel good? To act like the same kind of jackwagon they are complaining about?

Do I agree with the approach? Well, here's how I feel about it. It's none of our business directly - we don't run the Tour or the networks that have the tv deals with the Tour. If we were serious about doing something, we would lobby the advertisers and vote with our wallets. But of course that's "real" things - instead we get on the internet and act immature as a way to speak out against immaturity. I'm pretty sure that kind of language, or at least language that could be interpreted to accomplish the same thing, is already on every sporting event ticket. Lawyers, after all, run the show. The Tour or the network or even the advertisers could easily take care of this - but they haven't. They must at least tacitly accept its value to their interests, or they would do something about it.

So, I don't own the Tour or the network or an advertiser, so until I have decision making power, I don't care. It's not my show. If I don't like it, I won't support their model. If I don't care, but find value in the balance of the product, I will support their model.

I'm certainly not going to presume to make decisions for an entity or entities that have already put on their big boy pants. If I want to make the decisions, I should start my own show.

As to my personal opinion, forced to make a decision, I would rather the yelling didn't happen. But that's WAAAAAY down the list of things I would like to see not happen, and I can tell you that mindless threats of violence is WAAAAY above it on that list. I think it's a terrible thing to simply sit silent while people propagate the culture of justifiable violence mindlessly - Sharia Law called, they want that attitude back.

Thanks for the clarification. Would it be accurate to say you are not in favor of the babbabooey yelling, but the tone of the complaining about it bothers you more? If so, I don't think we are very far apart, just the yelling irritates me more.

I don't know anybody personally on here but I read enough to know there are some people I expect are going to disagree with the way I think, some (like the OP) who I haven't read enough or they haven't posted enough for me to have an idea, & then some who I am surprised to be in disagreement with. And when I find myself in apparent disagreement with them, it makes me examine what I think & sometimes ask them to clarify their thinking so I can understand it. Usually I realize we're really not that far apart, like here.

Thanks for taking the time to respond!

I'm definitely indifferent about the yelling. It's not my business - not my show. Although I would argue everyone that supports the tour is demonstrating that they are in favor of it.

I'm decidedly against mindless expressions of violence - if you were to look at my posts, there's a history of me always speaking out against the immature calls for violent behavior in response to something meaningless - I think it's the lowest form of rhetoric and ignores the fundamental basis of what we enjoy in the first world: the same freedom that allows yellers to yell is the wall that keeps the government from enslaving us or authorities from utilizing excessive force.

Dramatic? Yes. Needlessly dramatic? I don't think so - you can't have it both ways. What kind of world do you want to live in? Where people have the right to yell or the one where individuals can decide what is right and wrong and act with impunity on those decisions?

Now, I would have zero problem with the Tour or the networks "fixing" the yelling problem. It's their show.

But, please, stop debasing yourselves people - it's just dudes yelling. You want to do something, get off WRX and write letters to advertisers telling them that you will no longer buy their products/services if they continue to allow it. Or keep barking and acting the same way that the yellers are acting. Which makes zero sense to me.

They should be sent to North Korea.

It has been reported that Kim Jong-un has had NK officials executed with anti-aircraft guns.

Yeah, I'm good with that.

I think penalty of death is really the only solution here. I propose a creative death sentence. Modern stoning, golf WRX style. The offender is secured to a pole on the driving range and balls are hit at them from a short distance until their life is ended. It's really the only way!

Top Flights and Pinnacles only. Preferably they've been run over by a lawn mower a few times to really scuff up the cover.

You see HSS, the people here advocating violence and torture are just having harmless internet fun. I thought that was fairly obvious. That's way down on the scale of world problems. Talk about moving goal posts?

If you say so thug - personally, I dont find it fun. Hypocrisy is rarely lulz to me. But, to each their own. I'll keep calling it out, though - the culture of casual references to extreme violence is offensive to me. We can both win: you can talk about firing squads and I can keep talking about the ridiculousness of responding to an irritation with violence while proclaiming moral and maturity superiority.

PGA/USGA should find the perpetrators and institute a public hanging rule.. that'll show em.....

Yeah! That's totally the kind of world we should live in! Where it's ok to kill people if they don't act the way you approve!

Hypocrisy:calling people childish while advocating violence for someone yelling a nonsense phrase.

People aren't advocating violence in a satirical manner not literal. However those yelling nonsensical phrases are typically intoxicated and boorish behaving jerks that should be removed.

And you think the yellers aren't practicing satire? Wheres the defense of that?

i agree with you on premise that advocating real violence as a joke is in poor taste... im guilty of it at times... BUT asking them once to stop and if not quietly escorting them off property isnt violence... why wouldnt that work... isnt it close to throwing things at baseball players or football players since golf fans get so close tothe players and can effect the game potentially with the non sense.?

what do we do one day when a player has enough and slings a club at one of the yellers...? do we blame the player or the work enviroment that the tour has let build ? i vote for blaming the cause not the effect...

i guess in short i have to ask...what value to these ill mannered folk bring to the game ? do we truly think that if they were silenced that the tour would loose money? nope... i dont believe that for a second.... Might even pick up attendance..

As who, pray tell, will be the arbiter of what is, and is not, inane Sean?

Sean2 was in the Marines, so, I would give him full power of command on this.

As his civilian advisor, I would make recommendations.

Like, if you yell bababboey, they drop a 100lb sack of potatoes on you ; )

Make that mashed potatoes

I've never known boorish or obnoxious and loud behavior to be satirical unless I'm in a comedy club. There should be little tolerance for these jackweeds on a tour event.
