Things that bug me while watching pro golf.

not much bugs me to be honest...BUT watching Langer putt has started to fester....... time for a rule rethink USGA..... either do away with the broom or repeal the anchor ban....

by the way..why was the langer thread closed,,,? seemed to be running nice and certainly on topic for the day...No doubt hes been talked to and it influenced his play sunday...

Life stops as some pro lines up a critical putt...

The network shows a virtual 3-D graphic rendering of the green with its slope and fall lines...

The announcer talks percentages and waxes on about "imagination" as if no one else has any....

The pro takes a waggle, sets up and makes his stroke....

The TV camera pulls back to show the ball on its way...

The caddie is standing with his back to the TV camera blocking the view of the cup...

There is absolutely no reason for any corporate suit to sit in the booth and waste three minutes of the telecast every day blabbing about whatever the hell they blab about. Nobody gives a sh-t.

Except they pay for the tournament

If you think those con men for whatever criminal insurance or banking institution are paying for anything ... you better think again

Sure , they drop whatever fake number for some crooked charity ( they probably run or finance ) but the majority of their stolen gains go to their inflated salaries and bonuses.

Like Honda, Shriner's Hospital, John Deere, Dell and BMW?

After reading nine pages of amusing comments I'm wondering why anyone on this board watches golf.

Those litte things just adds to the experience. To sit there and roll your eyes or whatever you do, a part of the inherent evil in h*** Sapiens or whatever. Guess it helped us to kill Mammoths back in the days. Cannot really se how, but anyways.

Hankshank ; lol..ya the sight of a suit and tie wearin zombie can be unappealing, especially when they start droning on for fifteen seconds about the millions they've spent on local charities. I would like to see Gabriel Iglesias in a Hawaiian shirt layin' into Nantz and Faldo. In any case it's all good without sponsors there wouldn't be a purse to piss in and no golf to watch or attend.

Guess you and I must watch different tournaments. I've never seen one of these interviews that was only 15 seconds.

And even if they didn't have the interview, it doesn't mean they wouldn't sponsor. That's a pretty leap to make that assumption.

Come on both you and I watched the same show. The total air time for a sponsor to wear a headset is a fraction of the time compared to the total time of the tournament. If NBC want's to give them some kudos for puttin' up the millions it takes to put one these tournaments then so be it. I can take the minute or two it takes or make the walk to the kitchen, either way you and I aren't gonna see eye to eye on this simple matter. :taunt:

Fair enough. We'll just agree that I'm right and you're wrong, right!?

No, I guess your point is valid, spend that kind of money you can have a few minutes of air time. I treat it like a commercial anyway and channel surf when they come on now. Cheers Tom

Agreed.I don't tune in to see the sponsor interviews either, but a company puts up the $$$ so we have a tournament to watch & some of us think we should make the decision what they should get in return?

Some of us are feeling very entitled...

Everyone else on Morning Drive.

Webb Simpson's ugly follow-through.

Kuchar's goofy grin.

Justin Thomas's whiny-face.

Adam Scott grabbing his head every time he misses a short putt.

Trying to remember which one is Lingmerth and which one is Summerhays.

Johnny Miller and his endless conquest to find a way to bring up his 63 at Oakmont.

Would have been a 59 on one of these easy us open venues... just saying.

Only the constant commercials and every U.S. based announcer except Judy Rankin. That stupid over use of tracking technology is starting to be as annoying as peter puck in NHL. Like they forgot how to track the ball with cameras. Especially love the sound of the ball strike that occurs way before the track and actual swing occurs. Seems to be happening more and more maybe they have switched who supplies the technology. At least the European broadcasts use it sparingly.

Charlie Hoffman's head tilt on all his full golf shots.

Furyk's closed eye watching his shot in the air.

Caddies standing behind their players on every shot to line them up on the Lpga. Just ONCE I'd like to see the caddie tell their player to shift a little to the right or left!!! Never happens so why do it in the first place.

Jim Nantz I am not your friend.

Don't mind watching the putts, just don't need to see all the prep b4 the putt ie: aligning,re-aligning,plumbobbing,checking slope, checking angles from every side etc, etc.

Like Johnny but not the 63 recant.

It's not a 5 par, it's a par 5. c'mon Johnny

Langer and Mccarron's need to anchor..shorten putters to less than lw length. Langer anchors on practice stroke then un-anchors? REALLY?????

OK, i feel better now. btw i laughed out loud a few times reading this thread...thanks..needed that as i'm not playing because of a strained miniscus or mcl.

The problem with the interviews is that it is those managers(it's always a C*O) that tries to be interesting, but they are doomed at the beginning. If, on the other hand, Microsoft should sponsor something and Bill Gates was the guy in the studio, if Sun computer (would have) sponsored something and Mavericks not-so-low-key father sat down with Nantz and Faldo, you would listen. Those guys are big enough to dont give a sh*t. Otherwise, you should get someone totally random, one funny employee or a hired-in comedian or whoever. A manager trying to be interesting when talking about his company to others than customers and employees will only be a yawn. By definition.

I worked at Sun for years. For a few summers Sun Microsystems and John Elway would host a Celebrity Players Tour golf event at the course across the street from our Colorado campus and McNealy would play. He'd bring Elway over to the Sun campus and we'd have a big employee party on the lawn. They'd do things like chip shots for $500 against each other. After one event, they framed a Colorado Avalanche jersey and hung it in near our cafeteria with a few one hundred dollars bills in it from McNealy winning a contest. (McNealy is a huge hockey fan as well). It stayed up until Oracle bought Sun in 2010. Another year, Elway turned it around and the bet was to throw a football into a trash can 40 yards away.

McNealy would have been a great interview for any PGA tournament. He was never at a loss for a quote.

Yeah, I didn't pick Sun randomly. Didn't work there myself but got all kinds of histories from a friend who held a fairly senior manager position at the Stockholm office. Those Sunrise- thing or whatever they were called where managers from all over the world gathered in places like the opera house in Sydney were like religious seanses with the Big Guy in the center. And he was not shy. In any way. Or so I was told. Saw an interview with him and his golfing offspring on youtube, dated a few years ago. And it was like him sitting with his legs wide and arms spread out over the sofa back(or whatever its called in american), seemingly totally in control of his sons golfing ambitions. If he got up into the Nantz/Faldo booth it would not be uninteresting.

7 commercials in a row where the black person is the boss...tired of it. Oh and the seven commercials in a row after showing 3 shots. Golf is unwatchable except for the european broadcasts.

And casual racism enters the picture ?
