What golf trips do you have coming up?

Recommended Posts

First week of April, quick junket to GA/SC

Friday: Palmetto & (hopefully) Sage Valley

Saturday: Eating pimento cheese sandwiches & watch live golf

Sunday: One of the Reynolds Plantation courses on the trip back to ATL airport

Not a bad little weekend. Where do I sign up??

I will be Flying in to ATL March 30th, playing UGA GC once then headed to the Holy land for Monday (I opt for the domestic beer and bbq sandwich, not a fan of pimento cheese but usually buy one regardless).

Got Cabot Links booked for June and trying to find some playing partners to go to Sand Valley or Kohler Spring event.

Every year a bunch of us take a golf trip over the summer.

2018 - Lake Tahoe, CA (These are not in stone, still trying to decide which to choose from)

  1. Edgewood GC
  2. Old Greenwood
  3. Grays Crossing
  4. Coyote Moon
  5. Incline Village
  6. Tahoe Donner

I did a Tahoe trip in 2016 and played almost the same list. We played Schaffer's Mill instead of Tahoe Donner. These are wonderful courses and I wouldn't change anything.

Are you a part of a reciprocal course or play on a Monday to get out there at Schaffer's Mill?

I'm with you on the BBQ over pimento cheese sandwich (haven't been in a couple of years buy one every time just to make sure I still don't like it), but opt for the "import" beer. Fingers still crossed our connection for Sage comes through. That one's a friend-of-a-brother-in-law kind of deal, and we're only free to play early on Friday...

Hopefully that connection works out! I have only read about Sage Valley and I think it will stay that way since I don't have any connections and I am not a collegiate or Jr golfer (I know there is an invitational of some sort).

Also, cant forget to have a peach ice cream sandwich.

I just saw this thread and felt compelled to share.

I had a trip at the end of January at Barefoot Landing in Myrtle Beach. The morning I was supposed to leave to head down, I was a few minutes behind my perceived schedule, so I was rushing to get on the road. I went to throw something in the back seat. In my haste to get on the road, I didn't get my right hand completely clear of the door before slamming the car door shut with my left.

If you've never slammed your hand in a car door, I highly recommend, when next given the opportunity that you DO NOT TAKE IT.

It sucks.

I still ended up playing all weekend, but it was with 4 stitches toward the tip of my right index finger. Because of where the laceration was, the actual swinging part didn't cause any pain, but the vibrations up the shaft and into my injured finger were unpleasant. Off center hits (toe/heel) hurt quite a bit more than shots struck solidly. I hit one or two thin...those made me question my will to live.

I have a very busy summer ahead of me as it is lining up. All charity auctions as I love helping out causes to golf.

  • Sand Valley and Lawsonia up in Wisconsin on the same day in July.
  • Plainfield CC & Hamilton Farm CC in NJ combined with a round at Cape Cod CC. also in July
  • Dismal River for 2 days and trying to combine in Ballyneal and Sand Hills presently maybe August if I can get there
  • In addition will join a private club back in Chicago this summer for sure. Although not sure which one.

The www.carlspackleropen.com being hosted at the Legends Moorland course. My 10th consecutive year on this trip and after playing Moorland last year in the World Am it will be the hardest. They had the pins in ridiculous places for the World Am and watched a few guys 4,5 and 6 putt.

I really like Moorland a lot, but they can put the pins in some tricky places. In my opinion, sometimes it isn't so much about the severity of the slope as much as the grain. For one of my trips there, there seemed to be a lot of holes cut where the grain of the green transitioned. You might have put that is into the grain all the way up to the cup, but down grain on the other side of the cup. If you missed with even the slightest bit of pace, it would trickle by and suddenly you'd have a 5-8 footer coming back.

Pretty sure I've already replied to this thread but i'm too dang excited so i'll share again. I have a father/son trip planned with my pops on March 15th- March 18th. We are leaving Atlanta on the 15th (Thurs) and driving to Kissimmee Florida and staying at Reunion/Salamander Resort. We have an 4:00 tee time on Thursday at The Watson Course, a 12:50 on Friday at the Palmer Course, and a 1:05 on Saturday at the Nicklaus course. This is also the 1st weekend for March Madness. We are huge hoop heads. May even go to the Celtics @ Magic game on Friday night. Golf during the afternoon and hoops at night. We are thinking of playing in South Georgia Sunday on our way home if pops can handle it. He's 71 so 4 days in a row could be tough, i'm worried about him running out of gas after Friday. Still going to have a blast either way.

Ari - You're lucky you were able to re-arrange the itinerary. You swapped out one great trip for another so no harm

Played streamsong in January and I’m already try to get back next winter. This summer I have a trip to Michigan to play Arcadia Bluffs, Belvedere, forest dunes and the loop both directions. Was hoping to play the south course but it’s not looking like it will be open in time so we are going to try for Kingsley or crystal downs. Also spending a weekend at sand valley at some point.

Thats the nice thing about going over there at this time of year. The courses are empty. If it was summer we never could have done that, everywhere would have been booked. Of course in the summer it never would have snowed so......

I just secured following trips :

March : Weekend with my wife in Spain, rounds booked at Real Sotogrande and Finca Cortesin (both Continental Europe Top 50)

March : Family trip to Edinburgh, one round booked at North Berwick (World Top 50)

July : Family vacation in Greece, back for two weeks at the stunning Westin Costa Navarino Resort, owning two beautiful courses which I played last year.

To be confirmed :

June : Two rounds tournament at Les Bordes (France), one of the most exclusive club in Europe (Continental Europe Top 20)

June or August : Trip with buddies in Denmark and Sweden (6 rounds on 6 different courses - all Continental Europe Top 100)

December : Family vacation in Phuket, Thailand. Should likely manage about 5-7 rounds.

I could be a very exciting season if everything is confirmed !

A lot of changes about pending trips.

Trip to les Bordes will hopefully be rescheduled to summer end. The club is currently open to visitors but only for a short period of time this year. I don’t want to miss the opportunity to play this gem before doors close again to visitors, like it has been for the last decade.

Sweden & Denmark will be organized next year.

But no reason to complain about alternative trips I booked.

Solo trip to Scotland in May

Day 1 = Royal Troon – Pretwick

Day 2 = Western Gailes – Turnberry Ailsa

Day 3 = Turnberry Ailsa - Turnberry Ailsa

Buddies trip to …. Scotland in June

Day 1 = Castle Stuart

Day 2 = Royal Dornoch – Royal Dornoch

Day 3 = Castle Stuart – Nairn

No decision yet about the end of the year. It will be either Phuket or Punta Cana in December or Morroco in October.

The bar at the Dornoch Castle Hotel keeps a very impressive selection of whisky, its definitely worth stopping in if you get the chance.

We'll stay in Inverness, but I'm sure we'll find a good place for a few drams
