How did you get on at Bluejack National? Do you need a friend to play with? :)

I'm heading down to Alabama next week to play six of the northern courses on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, Schoolmaster and Fighting Joe at Muscle Schoals, Highlands and River at Hampton Cove, and Valley and Ridge at Oxmoor Valley. I'm hoping the courses weren't damaged by the tornadoes that rolled through the area earlier this week.

This July's lineup is a bucket list for me:

Camargo

Muirfield

NCR

The Golf Club

Firestone

Moraine

Double Eagle

The rest of the summer is your usual streamsong, copperhead, lake nona, cypress, world woods(it's great to live in FL btw). Kind of bland compared to July though.

Just got back from Scotland so nothing for the rest of the year. Next year will do Kapalua in Maui and a few other Hawaiian courses, plus trying to work out a trip to go up and visit Isaacbm in the great white north to play some mountain golf and get out of the AZ summer heat for a weekend.

Canada is a no go this year, but definitely doing Maui Kapalua prob throw in one of the Wailea courses as well, then a few nights on Oahu which Ill try and play Kanehoe Klipper with a fellow WRXer maybe through in 9 a Kahuku Zach Blair style.

Albuquerque at the end of April playing Paako Ridge and UNM.

July trip to Scotland:

Will play the following courses:

Dundonald

Prestwick

Turnberry Ailsa

Turnberry Bruce

I'll be in that area a month before you. I'll be sure to post a few thoughts as soon as I get home, especially good restaurants and pubs.

  • 3 weeks later...

I just secured following trips :

March : Weekend with my wife in Spain, rounds booked at Real Sotogrande and Finca Cortesin (both Continental Europe Top 50)

March : Family trip to Edinburgh, one round booked at North Berwick (World Top 50)

July : Family vacation in Greece, back for two weeks at the stunning Westin Costa Navarino Resort, owning two beautiful courses which I played last year.

To be confirmed :

June : Two rounds tournament at Les Bordes (France), one of the most exclusive club in Europe (Continental Europe Top 20)

June or August : Trip with buddies in Denmark and Sweden (6 rounds on 6 different courses - all Continental Europe Top 100)

December : Family vacation in Phuket, Thailand. Should likely manage about 5-7 rounds.

I could be a very exciting season if everything is confirmed !

A lot of changes about pending trips.

Trip to les Bordes will hopefully be rescheduled to summer end. The club is currently open to visitors but only for a short period of time this year. I don’t want to miss the opportunity to play this gem before doors close again to visitors, like it has been for the last decade.

Sweden & Denmark will be organized next year.

But no reason to complain about alternative trips I booked.

Solo trip to Scotland in May

Day 1 = Royal Troon – Pretwick

Day 2 = Western Gailes – Turnberry Ailsa

Day 3 = Turnberry Ailsa - Turnberry Ailsa

Buddies trip to …. Scotland in June

Day 1 = Castle Stuart

Day 2 = Royal Dornoch – Royal Dornoch

Day 3 = Castle Stuart – Nairn

No decision yet about the end of the year. It will be either Phuket or Punta Cana in December or Morroco in October.

My 2018 schedule seems pretty done now.

I finally booked a one week stay with my family at Mazagan Resort in Morroco, which runs a beautiful links style course running along the Atlantic coast.

And last but not least, I previously forgot to mention that I'll attend to the 2018 Ryder Cup in Paris. Since I'm not expecting any pick from Captain Bjorn, I'll be there as a proud Team Europe supporter !

I've managed to add in a short golf excursion. My wife and I are spending a long weekend in May in Asheville, NC with my family, and there won't be any golf played. However, on our way down from Northern Virginia, we're going to stop at the Homestead for a couple of night, and play golf for two days.

A month after that, I'll be off to Scotland for a week. Live is good

Just play the Cascades, don’t waste your time on the “Old course”.

Thanks for the advice. We're playing on the day we arrive, after a 3+ hour drive, so I think the Old Course will be fine that day. The next day, after a full nights sleep, we'll be at the Cascades. Any recommendations for dining, especially non-resort restaurants?

I have very good friends across the country who help me feed my addiction. Other than that, I love golf, have clubs and am willing to travel;)
