Best wing mallet putter?

The last couple of months i realized that my aiming at medium to short putts its not as good as i think so i want to tinker with a mallet. The fact that so many players on tour swich to a wing style mallet caught my attention so i’m looking for feedback of mallets like ping tyne (std cause i hate plumber necks), futura x5/x7, odyssey 7 or versa v-line fang, is there a clear winner in the last couple years? It seems odyssey is leading the band with their white hot pro/versa on tour but i’m not a fan of mushy feeling inserts coming from a sc fastback 1.5

Just go to www.raybonputters.com and let them make you any headshape at any weight you want. Below is the Justin Thomas X5 one off they are currently making me. Great to work with. I typically only support made in the USA but these guys are in the UK and mill their own heads.

Last year I switched to an Odyssey 7 and it made a huge difference in my alignment (coming from an Anser). I don’t like soft inserts either, so I am playing an RSX 7. No complaints.

For me it’s a matter of alignment aids. I love the number 7 shape, but I do better with a single longer line. So the top line, 2 long back lines doesn’t really work for me. I aim better with a single flange line like the TM Ardmore 3 or Scotty x5 and x5r.

I have NEVER had a better putter than the Scotty Cameron Futura X5! With my straight stroke this face balanced putter just works for me.

I personally think the Odyssey #7 is the best design by far but I've had an issue with inserts very recently after using them for 5 Years, I've found the Scotty X7M to be the best alternative for me.

 

Ill always have at least 1 #7 as a backup though

I’m totally sold on my Evnroll ER2. So if I wanted a “wing mallet” it would be the Evnroll ER5.

You say that like it's fact. What's makes evnroll better? Wins? No. Roll? No, vertical grooves are nothing new. Material? No. So what is it?

 

If you want to know a facemill pattern that actually outperforms everything on roll you should look at Lamont Mann's barbed wire pattern. It's proven in the Samm putt lab and super slow speed cameras that it provides a superior roll.

 

But again why do you think Evnroll is a clear winner? Different strokes for different folks. Headshape is about preference.

Don't forget about getting really good at reading greens first. If you can't read greens well, you don't necessarily want to be able to align properly.

The Evnroll is a stellar putter. Also a fan of the Ardmore 2L and 3. Had a Bat Attack and an X5 for a time as well, but the Evnroll is just really nice, compact and solid.

actually the ketsch mid call my attention also. Are you gaming the cadence tr? If so, have you compared the feeling vs sigma?

Not even close for me...Scotty Cameron 6M. This putter is stupid stable just had my best season rollin the rock in years. As much as I love the look and feel of blades just can't see me ever going back. In typical WRX fashion I already have a project under way with a mod on a Toulon Indianapolis. Another ultra high MOI option. Once you get over the size of these monsters and how to fit them in your bag ? you will fall in love. The old addage now rings true with a putter, go big or go home (with more 3 putts!). BB

I didn’t think I would like this at first but this is by far the best feeling “winged” putter I have used! They feel amazing and it’s like cheating when you roll them!

Odyssey Milled RSX Fang. I love the look of mine. The sound slot is a difference maker. And the roll is awesome!
