Watch Players this weekend....heard some staff might be playing them. Forged version of g700 with forged wedges...maybe they are trying to compete with their former engineers at PXG.

That’s not a club that interests me, I love Ping for their cast cavity back clubs. I have played the S59, i5, S56 and the iEs. My dad had a set of the Eye 2s I always wanted but my first real set of irons was the 845s. I grew up with cast clubs and that is what I have played best with, I have tried forged blades but they are not for me. I am good enough to play them but I also am good enough to know what I am best with

yeup agree., have absolutely no interest in forged pings.

Could not agree more. Nothing more meaningless as a criterion to me as forged vs cast. Given the quality of the metals and the process these days, along with Ping’s great engineering, the clubs feel great and they are so durable. I can’t understand why Ping would even care to make a forged version of the G700 unless that “forged” version comes with reducing its rather chunky footprint.

So many clubs players flock to because they say “forged” on the hosel or in the cavity really are not forged — the chassis is forged and the steel face is inserted. And of course so many play Vokey wedges (all cast) or Callaway (MD3 and MD4 all cast, the Mack Daddy Forged is forged.)

The i200 to me feels way better than, for example, the AP2, which says it is forged but is really a piecing together of forged and non-forged materials. Lot of clubs like that. Many strong performers, but not your typical forged irons.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the impact of an MP5 iron on a centered golf shot, but I get the same thrill out of a well-struck ball with a Ping iron and I don’t prefer one over the other.

and they went about 50 years backwards with that model

like following natalie gulbis with shenshen fang

You mean following someone who has won 1 time on the LPGA tour with someone who has won 9 times and has a bronze Olympic medal?

Three Rumors End of July, September, February 2019. I think the reps. have a meeting coming up, so they should know something that they can’t share until headquarters says so..

Did you happen to hear if it was that hollow head design we've seen?

Hard to imagine a release of February 2019 with major retailers showing price drops for the i200 in May 2018. Makes no sense for a retailer to go 10 months of current product on reduced price. I'm guessing a July release that gives them 3 months to clean out existing inventory of the current model. If so, we should see some leaked photos soon.

All that said, the i200 was such a good model that I'm probably going to order a set on sale.

Stealth i200 would be sick!!!!

Yes please. Almost stealth is what I would want. A lot of irons in a full set, need to be able to read the number. I think the Cobra Forged Tec Blacks look really cool. The i200 is perfect candidate for a black version.

I would imagine in their upcoming meeting they will see i500 and i200 replacement as well as all of next years products like an maybe an iBlade replacement. They don’t seem to be tied to their traditional release times anymore so those are anyone’s guess. The reps will probably only be allowed to discuss the products for late spring (if there are any).

The i500 is forged without a doubt and looks similar to the g700 iron in design but not size and offset. I think it's more of a rapture DI replacement than full iron set replacement for high level golfers.

So...combo with iblades? Seems unlikely that it won’t be playable across the set like i200. Forged is intriguing.

Not forged, full set, not rapture DI replacement, more offset than i200...other than that you nailed it...definitely not a replacement for the NEW i200, just a smaller alternative to the G700, distance iron with plenty of offset (less than G700)

If that’s all accurate, I’m probably still more interested in i200 or iblades.

What I saw was forged. I was at ping and overheard a product specialist talking about the club to someone else. He was only showing him the long irons. I'm sure they will make a full set but it will be targeted towards long irons for pros. Maybe it is another club coming out with it but I saw a club that looks like a iblade/g700 that was forged.

I wouldn't let these shy you away from their current offerings except maybe long irons, but that's such a small portion of golfing community it's a non issue.

Progressive offset ? headsize smaller or bigger than i200?

Are you suggesting there’s a new i200 coming soon that’s different than the i500 everyone has been discussing?

So? Bigger than i200, smaller than G700, offset is in between the two. Forged construction and likely a "fast face" maraging steel? Blade like appearance (go easy on this one blade guys) but plenty of forgiveness? As a G700 player my gripes are a little harsh metallic feel similar to GMAX and a good amount of offset. If this iron softens up that feel and delivers the same performance as the 700 all with a cleaner mid/oversized chassis I'm in.
