On the 1st hole he topped his drive to about 125 yards. Pulled out a 1 iron and flew it to a foot from 230 yards. Proceeded to shoot 65 in 45 degree weather. Missed no fairways and no greens.

My 1st event the 2019 PGA. Watched for several hours the guys at the practice area. Did not see final groups but Justin Rose outclassed everyone in that time. The flight and dispersion in 20 mph winds were ridiculous. He really needs to getaway from Foley though. The guy is way too omnipresent and over bearing.

As a playing partner, Tom Byrum.

As a spectator, man they’re all good.

In terms of hitting it on the absolute button everytime Nick Price is the best I've seen (and heard). He compressed it like no other with those old Ram Tour Grinds back in the 90s. It literally made a different and very distinctive sound at impact and he controlled shape & trajectory unlike anyone I've seen since. Old school baby!

In 1974, I watched Sam Snead on the range at the old Quad Cities. His caddy was down range, every ball took one hop and the caddy would take maybe a step and catch it in the shag bag. Followed him in a practice round, playing two guys whose combined age was less than his, he was right there with them off the tee, quality shots one after another. Awful putter, however.

I never saw prime Tiger. But I've been to a number of tour events, been to the US Women's Open, Women's Am, been to the Korn Tour (so stupid) event in Raleigh several times. I don't know, "good" ball strikers don't really phase me. I've played with several people who've played on Tour regularly and club pros who've played in majors. I was randomly paired with two D1 golfers from Fairleigh Dickinson Univ. about 2 years ago playing in NJ; never missed a shot. I saw Stacy Lewis on the range at the 2007 Women's Open, watched her hit 15 or 20 balls, each of them dead straight. Saw Annika on the course, dead straight. I've practiced with the Univ. of South Alabama golf team (D1) when I lived in Mobile. Seen them hit thousands of balls, very few misses. Worked at a range where the NC State golf team practiced often, same thing, almost never missed. Truth is, guys on the big tour, and even the Korn and Mackenzie Tours, rarely miss shots when they're not trying to do something out of the ordinary.

A plus 4 is obviously impressive and requires dedication to the game the average recreational golfer isn’t capable of but far from elite in the golfing world. Every state in the country has amateurs in this range with no intent of trying to play for a living. The CDgA (Chicago District Golf Association) has players in their handicap system up to a +6.3. And that’s out of a pool of Illinois Golfers. Imagine the completion in the warm states.

Lee Trevino. I saw him during a clinic he was part of. He took a 5 wood and hit it like a 5 wood and then like a mid iron, and then like a wedge. The control he had over the golf ball and the golf club was phenomenal while the whole time talking and joking.

They are all pretty impressive. I was on site on the 2015 Open in St. Andrews. We watched a bunch of playes on 12th. It was a pretty strong cross-wind, and I was baffled by how well most of them managed to hold the ball up against the wind. Straight shots in 10 mph sidewinds - off the tee as well as into the green.

Got to watch Tiger on the range for about an hour at The Open in 2000. I refuse to believe that anyone could hit it that good. There are not enough words in my vocabulary to describe it adequately.

Well this will probably get some hisses from the crowd.

I'm gonna say Boo Weekly. I've seen all of them in the 80s through today. I love sitting on the range for hours during a tournament. Tiger. Norman. Faldo. Stenson. Mahan. Cantlay. Matsuyama. Lots of good ones and most are much longer, but Weekly really impressed me.

It's the same shot every single time. Same height. Same shape Same sound. Same divot. He's a machine. He's obviously not long. His swing looks a bit like an old mans. But as far as absolutely pure every time, it's impressive. Too bad half the guys on this board are better putters than him.

Tiger when he was 19, up until that point I'd never seen anyone hit an iron with that type of trajectory.
