I'm digging that High Toe.

Any idea on the release date?

Might have to put a PM 60* back in the bag, that thing was nasty.

On the TM site it says “pre-order” coming soon.

How long before he puts a Scotty back in the bag?

Probably never. 14 club deal with Taylormade. And don’t get me wrong, Scotty’s are nice, but they’re not superior to other putters out there

Whatdya know, they actually can build an iron set with rebar shafts....

lol, its funny to me a 5"9 160 pound guy plays px 7.0 in bladed irons

Hell, the shafts he has in his wedges are too much for me to play in irons!

Tell me about it.. I tried a 5 iron with a PX 6.5 once, and there were a handful of shots that took off like a rocket and had a great flight but the rest were DEAD.

I never said that they were superior. I was just asking, because he had his best putting years with it. He had a 14 club deal with Nike also and would switch back and forth.

This isn't a situation like Tiger's NP2, though. Rory had a good stretch with a few different Scottys, but none of them were "the one." He's just as likely to putt well with his current Mullen 2 as he is with anything he's used in the past.

And it's pretty clear the Methods were not well liked by a lot of the players, which is why you saw Rory switch occasionally. Along with the Nike drivers, the putters were some of the first clubs to get kicked out of bags when Nike exited the hard goods side. It was pretty clear he couldn't wait to game something else.

I believe Rory's best year Strokes Gained Putting was in 2014 (+0.264).

I believe 2012 is the only year Rory had positive Strokes Gained Putting using a Scotty (+0.058).

I don’t think the Nike putter was the cause of anything. I games a Nike putter for a long long time and putted fine with it and the only reason I have a Scotty currently is because I wanted a custom putter with my name on it so I sent it to the custom shop but even with that being said I still have my method 001 at home and won’t get rid of it. It gets the ball rolling well and actually had to have the specs measured on my method to have the Scotty’s spec to match. Nike’s equipment wasn’t all that bad

I'll never understand the Scotty Cameron thing that tour players have. It's 2018 it's pretty easy for any manufacturer to reverse engineer any putter head. And it's not like the physics of the putter head are that complicated. I saw an interview with Tiger where he claimed he got better monitor numbers with his Nike putter, but he just felt more confident with the Scotty.

Ah I see. He was always a streaky putter. He was good with the 006, then slumped with the Origin after winning with it right off the bat. He never really switched when he was with Nike. Only his first few tournaments after signing with Nike he went back and forth with his Scotty, but after that it was all Nike until they announced they were getting out of equipment

Are there 16 clubs in the bag???

One of the wedges comes out, and either the 2-iron or 5-wood.

Rors has been doing this for a couple years now. Maps out the course and uses the clubs that best fit the yardages. For a while he would swap out his Gap for the 3i, the infamous one he chucked into the Trumph pond. But now he has 5 wedges and a 3i.

- Something that continues to go long off the tee in the fairway
- Something that is a fairway finder when needed and long
- Something that high, consistent and helps with par 5’s
-  Something to help with long par3’s and short par 4’s

-  Something metal, lots of them and go the gaps I need
- Something metal, 2x of them and helps me 120y and in
- Putters - limited rotation because I cannot afford misses

Golf is what you make of it.  Play grateful and accepting. We are all lucky to have it.

Rather than expecting lets all try and appreciate instead.

I'm a little surprised at the length of his irons and wedges. Didn't think he would play overlength.

He's over standard across the set, plus a little upright. I always find this fascinating as a guy who is a good 6 inches taller than Rory and has always had questions about length/lie standards. I think clubs were designed far more with people like Rory in mind than DJ.

Two things:

- Is rors really doing the Ribbed version of the NDMC on his wedges? I play ribbed grips, have for years, but have never put them on my 54 / 60.

- As mentioned above, clearly had a Pro Orange on the range before the pro am this morning. Couldnt quite tell if it was in the fiarway or the driver.

Yeah just another picture from this morning, it's definitely in the Driver. Pretty big change for him, if it sticks. Used that KK XT for a few years now, change over to a counter balanced shaft in the Pro Orange, is a pretty big change in his world.

Yes, he used to play the ribbed NDMC in everything, but late last season he switched to round Tour Velvets. The specs in Wade's book are from Firestone last year, but he switched after that. You can see in a later pic that the Hi-Toe was build with a Tour Velvet.

This is quite the change in driver shafts. Haven't dove too far into any stats but hasn't his driving been fine? Just a surprise to see him tinker with the driver. His iron/wedge play is what is holding him back right now.

I was about to say the same thing. Hammering the driver all year yet is willing to change shaft and not consider switching to the TP5 so he can actually control and spin his short irons? Madness.
