Valspar Discussion Thread

Anyone else feel like they just got done watching a major?

I was thinking that during the round. I always liked the Valspar. It's a real test of golf, not one of those bomb and gouge -24 snooze fests.

Honda and Riviera were the same. Old school courses that take driver out of your hands will do that to you.

I wonder if the Bay Hill thread will be as long. :-)

It might be this long before the first ball is hit.

Sadly true...

Why is that sad?

Back in the day, Arnold Palmer was the man, had throngs of fans.

TW is nothing more and nothing less than Arnie 2.0 in terms of his appeal to get people excited about golf.

Its a "good* thing.

Well it is because 90 % of the posts are from the same 20 people analyzing his daily bowel movements so in my opinion its not great. I appreciate you bring in some levity and your 20 posts of tiger woods 2005 masters putt jpeg but a little overboard in my opinion.

I’m really happy for Paul Casey. That’s a guy that’s been knocking on the door for a while for a win. He played about as well as you can play. 21 putts is crazy.

Tiger just didn’t give himself any makeable putts. He said he was in between clubs most of the day and I can believe that. He played safer shots. All in all, he played better than many thought he would. While there is no guarantee of performance going forward, you have to like how he’s trending. A tournament he’s never played and puts out a T2 with Captain America.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised Connors folded today. Still he played great. He showed some skill out there.

He played pretty scared on 7-8 holes including the 18th. The rain took the fire out of the fairways and his stingers were leaving him 20-30 yards more than yesterday. these a courses are built for tiger because it takes driver out of his hands and forces him to play for position. he'll always be a factor at those if his iron game is even at 80%. he looked very tired on the back though.it might be just me

Great 4 days of golf. Tiger didn’t need to win this week, that would have almost been to much to soon. He competed for 72 holes and almost won. Next week at Bay Hill he has a real chance. From what I remember, Torrey Pines, Bay Hill and Muirfield Village are his 3 winningest courses. He also totally boosted attendance which would have been lackluster for the weekend with Rory and Jordan missing the cut. Tournament was great, galleries were great and Tiger was great. Also hats off to Paul Casey for getting it done. You could tell that meant a lot to him. This has been a great Last few weeks. If Tiger competes like this at Augusta he will give the world a thrill second to none.

Big props to Paul Casey, he definitely played the best golf today (can't believe he was at twice the number of days winless that Tiger's at)

Good thing he won too, might've just spared Tiger a drubbing at the hands of Cap in a playoff.

Tiger was really impressive this weekend, I have to admit he performed a little better than I gave him credit. If he stays healthy, like Jack said, he will be someone to take seriously. Also, with as well as Phil has been playing, it would have been nice to see him playing in this tournament to see how he would do. Do we have a Tiger / Phil Showdown coming up soon?

He had to determine being in the fairway was better than trying to bomb something out there with a sketchy driver. If he was able to put something out there 300 yards, you’re going in with a 9 or pitch, not a 7. Irons weren’t quite as sharp, but from where he was 3 weeks ago, it’s remarkable.

Agreed. His influence on the game really isn’t debatable. In this case, Tampa and Valspar are among the winners here.

"Sadly true"? How is it sad if you're posting more than anyone else in this thread. And you'll post more than anyone in the Bay Hill thread.

Yes, we know. You're a fan of golf. Not just a Tiger fan. But once again, you're invovled in every Tiger discussion.

I wasnt suggesting he hit driver on 18 but at least a 3 wood because the fairways were wet from yesterdays rain

I already answered that. I can feel you seething through the computer screen at me. I post everywhere and also FYI this isnt a tiger thread ( although as usual it became one :) ) but if 70% of threads always devolve into tiger threads its pretty tiresome.Of course he contended some of it is earned but some borders on ridiculous. Its cool man, you do you and feel free to ignore my posts if they upset you so much. take care

I think he hit his last drive a bit fat, leaving 185 instead of 160-165

So Tiger played as least as well as Reed this tournament . ;)

Every time I saw them on TV, I couldn’t help but think of this.

Callaway Rogue Max LS Driver, 9 degrees, Tensei Blue shaft

Mizuno ST180 5 wood

Ping G425 Max 7 wood
Srixon ZX4 4 iron
Srixon ZX5 irons 5-PW, Nippon N.S. Pro Modus 3 Tour 120 shafts

Cleveland RTX6 48* wedge

Cleveland Zipcore 54* wedge
Cleveland RTX 58* full face wedge

Eh, he hit it 257. Think it was just his strategy and he stuck with it in spite of the circumstances.
