I am looking for a used set of PXG irons. There are a lot of them on ebay, some are unsually cheap.

 

So, is there any risk of getting a fake PXG on the market?

If you click on the link posted above look at the pitching wedge. The "w" is a totally different font then they are on a legit set. Font is one way to tell

There aren’t many things in this world worth money that someone won’t try to fake. Especially golf clubs, which can be reproduced relatively inexpensively (when quality is not a concern), considering the high price.

I guess they will fake anything. I saw fake AP3 yesterday, but never expected someone to fake some PXG

For someone unaware of what authentic look like, or not having an authentic to compare to in person, they are taking a gamble from the get go buying from the unknown for most part online (lack of feedback, reputation, etc). Im very skeptical about buying clubs from someone I’m not familiar with, and most likely I won’t buy. Too many horror stories. I’m sure there is a fake or “clone” out there for anything there is money to be made off of. (Golf clubs, watches, handbags, sunglasses, etc) If too good to be true, most likely is. Those who are not familiar with the amount of fakes out there, are who they target. Low price, no rep, and another one gets suckered. It’s sad...do your homework and by from authorized dealer or just flat out good sellers who have a history of selling quality goods, there are plenty of good sellers out there if you do a little DD

The easiest tell on these clubs is the shafts. Most of the time they put ones in with incorrect shaft bands.

Of course there's fake PXG's. At $300 a club it was not a matter of if, but when.

Best thing to do if you think you're looking at a fake set is to go to DHGate.com and check the pictures. You can pretty much buy a counterfeit anything on there.

The 4 iron is way off too. The top of the 4 is closed on the fakes, open on the reals. At least on the fake set I have.

I've come across a Craigslist ad that openly stated, "replica PXG," priced at $600! What was funny about his ad was, he mentioned purchasing an authentic one, so he had to sell the replicas. But then he goes on to say that he compared the replicas to his Taylormade TP MC and the replicas performed better and longer than the TM. I guess he didn't want to compare the replica to the authentic ones for fear the fake ones might outperform the real on.s! LOL!

I really don't get how some of the club fakes look so close and yet the shaft bands look so so bad. The shaft bands aren't even close.
