Ping I210 irons & Glide forged wedge

My local PGA SS had the i210 and i500 heads on the cart...both righty and lefty. They were wrapped in plastic and there was no signage or anything. I wouldn't have even seen them if i didnt see the cart.

For those wondering, the i500 is not too big at all. Looks good but the i210 and it are much different. I like the look of the 210 but i could see how some will LOVE the i500. Ping has a winner on there hands with both of these.

Cant wait to hit a few this week.

yep, the looks you describe pretty much jive with my experience hitting them this weekend. At my index of a 17, the 500's were too much for me to hit with any consistency. But the I210's I hit very nicely with both the Modus 105 and the stock graphite Alta CB, it really had a nice kick to it for me with that head.

I’m at a similar handicap. Can you explain how the i500’s were too much for you to hit?

Anyone have insight into why Ping lists their steel iron shaft weights considerably lighter than those shafts are listed on their actual manufacturers sites?

They use cut finished weight.

They use cut finished weight.

So, I am assuming that is the weight of all shafts in any iron they are in because of the face they are cut to length for any iron?

its weird. We saw the g in 16 and then g400 last year. I’d bet on g400 replacement next year, though.

Preordered mine. Tried 5 different shaft combos and landed on the trust S300’s. Excellent shaft for this head, dispersion is lights out

I210’s 5-PW

Great to hear ....are they saying 7/31 for delivery?

No they haven’t given me a time line yet but I do know that deliveries will start on 7/31 so hopefully around the next couple of weeks, PING is usually excellent with turn around time

Hit the 7 iron in the i210 and i500 on a monitor today. Tried DG 105 & 120 S300, PX LZ 5.5, Recoil 780 F3, and KBS Tour 120 S. I'm a mere mortal with a 7i SS of 77-80. For me, the KBS felt and performed best.

Both offerings are similar in forgiveness and dispersion, which is to say excellent. Where they differ is feel and distance. Feel goes to the i210 by a mile. Not that the i500 is bad, but for my SS, there is no comparison. I've read in another post you need an 85-90+ 7 iron SS for these to feel as good as the i210. Distance goes to the i500, but not as much as I would have guessed. For me, it was probably 3-4 yds. Spin was noticeably lower which, if that carries over to actual course conditions, would worry me about holding greens.

Right now, I would go the i210 route, but will wait to try these outdoors. Unfortunately, they didn't have the wedge.

Did you not try the modus. I have a similar SS and modus 105s is perfect. I would have thought that KBS in stiff was a bit stout for our SS. I had it soft stepped in my i15's one time and it was still too stiff

Sorry missed this until now.

I was hitting the 500's heavier with more fat misses. The 210's definitely appeared to me to have a bit wider more forgiving sole. So my contact with the 210'a was much more consistent. I honestly don't think I hit one solid shot with the 500's...out of maybe 25 balls.

Even the ones I didn't hit heavy still felt a bit harsher to me than any shot with the 210's

I guess that could be attributed to the elasatomer filling behind the face?
