Ping I210 irons & Glide forged wedge

So what are everyone's expectations? Will the i500 be longer and slightly more forgiving than the i210?

 

Just spoke to the fitter which he said he has hit both. Said the i500 have more of an iblade look and would imagine they will sell better than the i210. He said that he had hit them and they may be the best seller ping has ever seen.

I’m not sure that I’m quite ready to hit blades, but if these offer more forgiveness than the i210 (as some have mentioned), I’d definitely be willing to give these a try.

He didn’t. He just has me pegged of liking more of a player iron. Said they look similar to the blade and a really clean top line. No mention of distance or forgiveness. Looks wise to me, looks like a p790 with a thinner top line and smaller blade length. Sounds freakin awesome

I understand that the i500’s have a compact profile, but doesn’t the hollow body naturally add distance and forgiveness?

I can't see the i500 feeling nearly as good as i210 being hollow and no elastomer behind sweetspot to soften them up

I was coming to post this. Well, not the graphic...as an account holder I'd risk losing my account if I posted the slide...but to say that the i500 is positioned as being equal in forgiveness to the i210, but considerably longer/more ball speed. PING is clear to say that the i210 will be the best feeling iron they've made, and the i500...might not be. But will be up to 4mph faster ballspeed than the i210 iron for iron. That being said, I ordered my i500 set last week. Lol!

I don’t need or want more distance from my irons, it stretches out the gaps and can sometimes really effect wedge gapping. That said, i500 3i/i210 4-9/Glide 2.0 Stealth wedges might make a great set!

 

The Forged wedges are pretty but with my range I already replace wedges at least once per year, not looking to drop $1k on new wedges every 6 months if the forging is soft.

I dunno, those i210’s just look good, sole width will be key for me. Ping i210 v new JPX v Ap2 v P770 replacement, this segment is about to get very interesting.

Just hit both, and I will be going i210 - felt way softer to me and I loved the ball flight despite not being fit to me.

Not surprising. I would expect the i210s to feel a lot softer with that mass behind the sweet spot. i500s are going to be way too long to make into a set. I would need to carry 2 more wedges. I'm all over getting one for a long iron though.

In person the i500s are slightly smaller if not the same size as i210s. They are just slightly bigger sole wise than the 18 xforged.

They are no longer through the set than 0311s from PXG. My 7 iron swing speed is 96mph and I was consistantly hit 194 yards with no flyers at 6800 average spin on trackman which is highly surprising at 30.5/31 degrees of loft. Steep decent angle with my high spin makes these things super easy to hit consistent numbers and stop.

 

Amateurs talk way to much about distance, lack there of, or what each club will or wont do.

 

I'm switching from a full set of mp18 scs to these with no worries about the distance issues.

I'll have to test them both, but if the i500s produce p790 distance, I'm out. Just got rid of mine because the distances were all over the map.
