Almost all of the heads I've ever gotten from GW have been underweight.  The last set of iron heads I purchased (TS2) I asked for them to insure they were at least advertised weight or heavier.  They replied that there would be an extra charge for weighing heads, lol.

Yes, they charge for handpicks. Someone has to actually go through and review the stickers on each head in the box.

I've found that the irons are typically pretty spot on. I wanted a few at the light end of their tolerances (2-3 grams light) and they couldn't get to it because all were within 1-1.5 grams of listed spec. The woods are just not as good a deal and after 4 purchases, I'm giving up.

I had a discussion about that with the guy who I"m having pull the shafts and having the TS3/4s put  together, he may do an extension if its more than 1/8 of an inch.  He didn't seem concerned.....

Be prepared for them to be a full inch short.

Another stupid wedge question.  I have the 56* TSW DRM with the Score shaft R flex.  I lent it to someone and they asked which OEM brand would the TSW be most similar to?  I have no idea.....

It's said these are similar to the grind Olazabal used on his MacGregor wedges.  It's not confirmed, of course, but comparing the TSW pics to the MacGregor wedge I've seen...   I tend to agree with that assessment.

I started playing in the mid-late 80's.  I didn't get my first sand wedge until I bought my first set of "real" clubs I bought myself...........Spaulding Executives box set........Then again in the early 2000's when I bought my Cobra i/h 3100's that came with a sandwedge.

Here's an image of a newer version (2012) of Olazabal's preferred grind.  Pulled this from Golf Digest's online piece showing 2012 PGA Championship.

The angle doesn't display it amazingly well, but you can see the heel/toe relief in the sole...

I got one way out of spec. But according to Britt they are in line with the rest of the current offerings from any OEM.

I bought a TC Pro 7w Pak unassembled and the head came labeled 200.8 and my scale (which is getting old) read just a bit higher. That's within a gram of 220g they list online.  To me that sounds light for a 7 wood head (I built a lot at ~ 230g), but most clubs these days are longer and lighter so I think that weight makes sense. A lot of 7 woods are at least 42" now and that was a 5 wood length years ago. I'm glad they put a weight screw in so you can easily adjust. A sample of only 1 (my current buying volume), but I've never had issue with Golfworks head weights.

I pulled apart an OEM Gap Wedge recently and the head was 283g.  That seems a good 10g too light for me, but I think the design now is to have them start lighter for a longer lighter club.  Easier to add weight than take it out I suppose.

Great looking head; unfortunately I haven't had a chance to hit the club yet. I built it at 42" to start, but may shorten it as I tend to favor shorter heavier clubs.

My nephew just got a 56* TSW.  Grind and overall profile looks VERY similar to my Vokey SM7 M grind.  I hit a couple pitches with it, could easily switch to it.  But I do love my SM7s and won't be switching for many more years.

I love my TS3 irons, I doubt I will ever buy OEM irons again.
Next, I'd like to build a TS1-IM and TS4 combo. I will probably wait until the black finish is available.
Until then, I am thinking of building the KE4 Max irons for my son to replace his Mavrik irons.
I am also interested in building a hybrid, 3h or 4h. (I can't hit hybrids well, so I carry 4i and 7w, and I also have 2i )
For wedges, I don't mind Max for GW or SW, but I want a versatile LW to replace my Vokey L grind, so I'll have to wait.

What can anyone who has played one tell me about the KE4 Max and/or TC Pro drivers?

Both have me intrigued, for different reasons. High single digit with 96-98 mph driver speed, for whatever that’s worth.

I haven’t tried either of those, but I really like the KE4 Tour.  It’s $50 and $60 cheaper than the Max and Pro and I think it’s a really good head.

I have both the pro and the max.  117 swing speed.  The max spins too much for me.  The pro is great in the simulator bay but I struggle with contact on the course.  Might be a mental thing.  I am getting 2-3 more mph ball speed over my ping g425 lst

Is your flight with the pro a little on the low side, possibly leading to a change in how you go at it?

I have the max, tend to agree it's got a bit of spin on it at times. I'm a similar swing speed to you and generally hit it well but when it goes wrong it spins up and loses a ton of distance. Generally though It's straight as an arrow, usually if I miss the fairway it's only a couple of yards one way or the other. Overall like it for the price though.

Really depends on your swing and launch conditions. The max could be a great head for you. There’s a definite difference between these two heads.

On a different note, I’m curious if anyone has tried the TSW wedges against any of the SMT wedge heads. I’m really not a fan of the Maltby wedges, so looking for something else at a similar price point.

Are you looking for something that would fall in between the TSW and Maltby Max wedges?

I haven’t tried the Max Milled wedges, but I didn’t get along with the TSW. I felt like I had to hold the face open on every shot to make good contact.

I'll say this, don't sleep on the Max Milled if you haven't tried or considered them. For a few years I had written them off as game improvement chunky infomercial type wedges (clearly I was wrong). I also consider myself fairly versed in wedge play with a good number of tricks in my bag. Ultimately I just saw them as "not for me".

Well I built a 54° Max for my dad because he REALLY needs help with his wedge game. I got him the 1.05 sole. The day I gave it to him, we played 18. I used his wedge almost the entire round. It started with curiosity and lead to obsession. I couldn't believe how easy it was to use. Distance control was insane and I could really pull off pretty much any shot that I needed. Ultimately though, it was just 100% functional and efficient without the need to get too cute. That day I went home and ordered both the 54° and 58° in the wide sole and sold my TM MG3's. What I really like is the extra face micro milling and that the wedges are actually somewhat compact for what they're meant to be. Just like all Maltby products, you get GI in a pretty tight and good looking package.

2 days later I pulled my Achilles so womp womp. But I can't wait to get these to the course when I'm all healed up.

The Max milled do not lend themselves to opening up much.  Trailing edge will catch.  They need to develop something with the heel/toe/trailing edge relief, yet with some relief on the leading edge➡️ they are missing out on golfers who need this design!

Not disagreeing. You can open it up in certain lies to be played off the toe but still have to have a pretty tight wedge game to execute. I know they're working on a new line for 2025. Would be great to see something of a Max/TSW live child be born.
