I love the people who get mad when Tiger is discussed "too much." He is a force on the Tour unlike there has ever been. He's single handedly responsible for pumping probably over a billion dollars into the golf economy. He brings in casual fan yes...but this board has true golf fans (I mean seriously, who else other than true fans would post on a golf internet forum) and he captivates all of us. And yet people still have to complain.

 

It's great that Tiger is playing well again. But the problem is that he's not the whole story. Koepka is going to get no love or attention for what he's done because everyone is fawning over Tiger, as if no chaser has ever shot a 64 or 65 to make a late Sunday charge.

 

No, it's fantastic that he is not the whole story. The others folding today would not have been a better narrative. Those who have experienced Tiger through his career have been hoping for the day when the opposition did not fold. A much better emotional roller coaster..

Koepka took me to situation that I will from now on root against him at majors like a hell, but root for him at any other event he plays like a hell so he improves this bizarre record of 3 majors/1 regular PGA/1 regular ET wins (I don't count two Dunlop Phoenix, nobody cares about Japanese tour). How are we judging personality? He does not throw the F bomb around the young patrons so -1. Has not been accused of cheating on the course so -2. He has not had his mug shot posted on the net so -3. Yep, how could we enjoy or admire a guy like this?

 

He hasn't cheated on his wife with porn stars or Perkins waitresses, ...-1. He hasn't amassed hundreds of millions of dollars and still stiffs people on tips...you guessed it...another -1.

 

With all due respect, you have no idea about this man's personal life. And it's even more bizarre that you're judging others that way...I know of few who can rightly claim sainthood, do you??

BK was the best golfer and deserved to win, he might be a robotic driving machine but it was impressive to watch. People talk about his muscles but he has three majors because ice-water runs through his veins. He was unshakable.

Before I acknowledge the new Andy North of winning 3 majors like he’s playing a member-guest, TW played as good as he could with terrible play off the tee. His progress is amazing. I’m impressed. Maybe next year he’ll put it all together. But I’d be shocked if he’s not on the Ryder Cup team with iron play like that.

 

Brooks Koepka is a mensch. What he doesn’t do in a regular tournament comes alive in majors. I’m so impressed. And to do it in his own way by going on the Challenge and European Tours is the new way to do it. More American golfers need to try it this way.

I tip generously and am faithful to the vows I've made to my wife. It's not a Mother Theresa or Hitler dichotomy...there are shades gray in there. You root for whomever you want for whatever reasons you want. I'll do the same, thanks.
