Brooks was high fiving people on the ropes. Tiger is normally in the zone and walks right by. Brooks seems to be very in control of his emotions. I wouldn't mistake that for being boring.

I love the people who get mad when Tiger is discussed "too much." He is a force on the Tour unlike there has ever been. He's single handedly responsible for pumping probably over a billion dollars into the golf economy. He brings in casual fan yes...but this board has true golf fans (I mean seriously, who else other than true fans would post on a golf internet forum) and he captivates all of us. And yet people still have to complain.

 

It's great that Tiger is playing well again. But the problem is that he's not the whole story. Koepka is going to get no love or attention for what he's done because everyone is fawning over Tiger, as if no chaser has ever shot a 64 or 65 to make a late Sunday charge.

 

Well at the end of the day, Koepka got want Tiger wanted. So it all balances out.

How are we judging personality? He does not throw the F bomb around the young patrons so -1. Has not been accused of cheating on the course so -2. He has not had his mug shot posted on the net so -3. Yep, how could we enjoy or admire a guy like this?

 

He hasn't cheated on his wife with porn stars or Perkins waitresses, ...-1. He hasn't amassed hundreds of millions of dollars and still stiffs people on tips...you guessed it...another -1.

If we are judging players on personality, who the hell would anyone pull for? Dustin Johnson? Thomas? Spieth? Matsuyama? Mickleson? Stenson? Adam Scott?

 

Koepka is hardly an outlier in the lacks personality department. If you've listened to any of his interviews, he comes off as a pretty decent guy. And his game speaks for itself.

 

What more do you want?

 

You get to watch a guy slowly becoming a legend.

 

28 years old dependent on power for his game. 4 career wins- no chance he's a legend.

 

Four years on tour, 3 majors. Take a look at the list of major winners. He's well on his way. And how many have won the US Open back to back? And look who's going to help him polish his trophy tonight.

Everyone's career could end at any moment. 64 today btw.

 

His comeback is almost miraculous. I’m not diminishing what he has done. Back injuries are tricky. He could get out of bed wrong in the morning and need surgery again.

 

We all know there is some risk of a physical setback. We know that every player could get injured or have something bad happen to them. Why bring it up, especially after a great round. Seems like poor form. I'd rather see the glass half full, but that's just me.

I think BK is actually getting more exposure overall because TW was in the mix. Will be interesting to see the TV rating numbers. And he can tell his kids someday how he beat Tiger. Given the age difference that'd be like beating Nicklaus in the late 70s. Worth a selfie or three.

I'm a big fan of Brooks Koepka. Really like how he goes about his business.

 

Reminds me of a quite, stocky third baseman in baseball. He's going up there to take his cuts....never gets cheated
