Needs to be on Commercial TV. Think of your average extra holes playoffs in PGA Tour Events. With the smallish number of players involved in those events, usually 2-3, the TV networks realize there is nothing to show, no action, in between shots. You don't cover air time with players/caddies walking down the fairways.

This PPV must have mics on both guys to help fill this "dead" time. At least with just two guys playing on an empty course it should last only <3hrs.

Maybe let their caddies drive them each around in carts. This could be an absolute bore by hole 5 or 6 with no new ground heard or seen.

BTW, as a work perk, I get the PPV for free - so I will record it and watch at leisure :derisive: .

In guessing they will do something like 3 hole matches or break it up somehow. Someone going up by 5 holes can’t be good but then again everyone pays upfront so maybe that doesn’t matter.

Will it be stupid? Probably. Will I watch? Absolutely.

Great point and I hadn't even thought of it.

This is going to be brutal. I could see it now....a choreographed mix of TW and Phil's career highlights queued up to be played between cheesy, rated-G insults.

Be like,

I will watch it, but I sure as hell won't pay for it. If I can't find a place to watch it for free I won't watch it at all.

That said, it's the day after Thanksgiving, I will probably be golfing when it's on already and just miss it entirely.

I didn't even care for these matches when they were free. I find it really hard to watch just two people play. There is so much downtime and it just gets annoying. I feel bad for the commentators who are going to have to fill all that time.

I'd rather see them wager their own money. Let whomever is down press the bet up and let's see who has bigger balls.

I'll skip my triple dip, half fat/non fat, caramel mocha latte on that day in order to make up the $20....

Seriously, this PPV is the cost of a coffee in Toronto..

Fore!

Yeah, but $20 Canadian is like $1.16 USD ; )

You don't buy with Canadian$ ?

For me this was an idea that seemed a lot more intriguing when it was announced. Now that the details are out, Phil's game has dropped off while Tigers has gone up, it doesn't seem worth the $25 they are charging for it. The money while life changing for most of us really isn't for them, I think pride will be more of a motivation than the money. If there were a few more matches on the PPV that we wanted to see I'd be more interested.

Here’s what would draw me in…

They each get $1/2M to show up and $4M to bet, say $1/2M minimum, $1M max, one press allowed on the back 9, all bets must be called. Bonus adrenaline rush – give caddies $1/2M each to bet with each other in $100K increments. Everyone rides.

Absolutely. 20 bucks to watch two of of this generations best players? They won’t be around forever and I will take every opportunity to see Tiger play.

I would have loved to see this 15 years ago, but I’ll take what I can get. Maybe it sets a precedent to return to exhibition matches a lá Shells Wonderful World of Golf.

Rory's second big announcement of the day. He's not watching.

https://www.golf.com...on-missed-mark/

I appreciate Rory and JT's honesty but I wonder how the PGA Tour feels about their statements. While they are all independent contractors one would think that this is something that could be good for the PGA Tour and ultimately the players on Tour. Depending on the success I could see this becoming an annual event where one year might feature JT vs Spieth or Rory vs. Reed. It ultimately could become something that puts a lot of money in their pockets, so not sure why they wouldn't want to support it.

HBO just aired a special on the match, was pretty good. A lot of interviews, walking with them on the course prepping. Phil flying around on his plane to the actual course in Vegas to practice with his caddy etc m. Tiger just driving to medalist by himself to play, no caddie and left his range finder in Ryder cup bag lol

I watched this too, and also enjoyed it. Phil came across to me as trying to sound too confident about winning, almost like he was covering up the fact that he's not confident at all. Then again, it IS FIGJAM talking. I did find it interesting that it sounded like they communicate and talk way more than I thought they might.

I originally voted that I would watch it. Back when it was their money and I assumed spectators were allowed. I even instantly took the day off work when it was announced.

But like I said every decision for this thing was wrong, and I'm not interested anymore. Them not using their own money really did it for me. Them not having skin in the game makes this thing worthless.

If it were 4 guys with their own money and some more interesting format (wolf, rotating teams, etc) I'd be willing to drop $50 to see it. But thiscrap just isn't interesting. I'll wait a week and watch the same thing in the Bahamas just without Phil.

Ror's won't be watching because he will be too busy practicing.. Poor kid can't make a cut let alone get some free time to watch a 43 y/o, who is going to outplay him in all of the 2019 majors.. :golfer:Sponsor $, their $, your $... I am just tuning in to watch the side action... should be great fun.
