Will you pay to watch Tiger v Phil?

Wouldn't miss it........I mean, what else is there to do the end of November, in Ohio, the day after Thanksgiving with a house full of in-law/relatives you don't even like?

 

In order of preference:

1) watch this epic event

2) hit myself in the nuts with a hair brush

3) spend time with in-laws

How about reading the survey results? Only 17% of respondents displayed price sensitivity, the same small number that are actually going to pay watch.

 

I don't think the survey results are accurate because the survey was posted before the price was known which is when most of the respondents of the price sensitivity likely voted. Once we knew the price the question became would you pay $19.99 to watch it and that's when the "No's" took over. I believe if the price was $10 or less more people would have tuned in just to see what it was about, even if they couldn't dedicate 3 hours to the entire event.

 

The other problem with PPV I have is you can't DVR PPV on my cable system, so in order to watch it, I have to be willing to sit in front of the TV from 3 until at least 6 on Black Friday.

 

Overall as a marketing person I like the concept of PPV for these types of golf events but they missed an opportunity to really set the bar high. Some additional grudge matches would have helped and offered the producers additional material to switch to when Phil and Tiger ran out of entertaining things to say as they walked down the fairway together. I also disagree with not allowing fans to be there, imagine watching a PPV boxing or UFC fight with no one in the arena, it takes all the energy away from the event.

 

I sadly believe this event will be a swing and a miss, hopefully not so much of a miss that it discourages future attempts to get it right.

Why not? This is GolfWRX and full of guys that drop a lot of $$$ on equipment and other foolish stuff several times a year but for this event folks all of a sudden turn frugal and conservative with their money?

If this event is successful (and we have 14 pages of evidence saying that it WILL be successful) then it could be an annual thing. TW vs Rors is an obvious candidate for next year, maybe even TW vs Spiethster. TW vs Sergio even could work if they muted Sergio's mic.

I think it’s less of a bother to me because I’ve cut the cord with the monopoly companies and I don’t pay 120+ a month for service

Shadow creek is an amazing course. absolutely stunning. if these guys dont play well it can be a bruiser as well.
