Even though I'm going to pay for the Tiger/Phil match.

Neither that or pizza and soda are investments (well unless you are selling 2 pizza's for 10,000 bitcoin in 2010).

Quit using the word "investment" to justify entertainment spending. You don't do yourself any justice with that.

Ahh, a lesson in the lexicon of finance.

Ha! Kidding, getting excited for drunken vacation. Gonna invest in a lot of Titos and lobsters ; )

I don't get the point of this being PPV.

There's a chance that these two get drawn together during the season. They play in the same tournaments 20 times a year. You can't compare that to boxing where sometimes they only box maybe once a year. You've seen maybe 50 hours of these two over the season, why pay for another 18 holes? They'll also be back playing in a month or two anyway.

And you'd pay extra to watch them on their own on a PGA Tour-standard course? (if it was somewhere exclusive top ranked in the world course like Pine Valley, Cypress Point etc, I could see some appeal)

If they were playing Cypress Point, I'm pretty sure I'd pay just to see the golf course.

Speaking of CP, I'm still holding out that a movie of Mark Frost' book, "The Match" will be done but I'm losing hope.

$25 is a bargain, not worth complaining over. You spend $25 on parking for a sports event or on two sleeves of balls, paying $25 to watch the two greats of this era go head-to-head is a good investment.

Remember there will be no commercials, no sponsorship. It's just you and the players. It's a different model for funding golf, either you can watch commercials for 25 minutes per hour (pay with your time) or pay $25 to watch (pay with your wallet). Good to see TW and Phil trying something new.

This is a much better investment for $25. And I could get 2 sodas!

I think this is a bit of a miss to have it as a PPV. While it will be epic and I probably will buy or find a link to watch, I do not support limiting the viewer audience of something that will be this entertaining.

This could have been a great way to get casual fans, weekend warriors, wanna be pro golfers, and much more to tune in and watch an epic showdown of 2 of the greats.

Like I have posted elsewhere...I will purchase it for sure. It would be better if they put the PPV money to charity or those guys donate some of the winnings since neither need it but we don't know exactly what is going to happen yet. Most of you saying no will probably end up purchasing it.

My main reason is how often do you get caddie/golfer insight? All 4 (caddies included) of them will be mic'd up. Its barely there on YouTube. I like to hear their thought process from hole to hole. Neither of these guys are in their prime but you know there is a lot of pride and possibly animosity and the drive/will to beat each other. Good caddie talk and some verbal jabs will make it entertaining.

The Mission hills match is always fun to watch on YouTube between Tiger and Rory....I dont see this being much different.

Maybe I can convince a couple buddies to throw down a 12 pack and they can join. In the end, its a ppv, and like all paperviews....It could be amazing or a complete waste. I can afford the risk.

Where did you see no commercials? My bet is there will plenty.

PPV solves the censorship problem if they mic Phil and Tiger the entire time. No one will want to listen to silence or bleeps every 5 seconds while they walk the fairway or line up their putt. The cost of the PPV will likely go mostly to the production costs of the vent, it also allows them to control the distribution rights. It makes sense, especially on a world wide scale and not just for US audiences.

I will be paying to watch. This is cool. Are the candidates the hottest in the game right now? NO!!! It’s something different in the world of golf. If they are all mic’d up it’s going to be good because Phil is already talking mess!!!!! Plus the charities are going to benefit from all this. It’s a win win in my eyes. With that being said maybe this will start a one on one league for players to battle it out. Let the links do the talking.

Personally I think $25 is way too high for this. I remember being excited about the old Showdown(s) at Sherwood on ABC primetime back in the day, but I really don't think I'd pay more than about $5-10 for this one.

That said, I'm working on trying to see this thing live! I've got a well-connected friend here in town that mentioned something about it recently.....fingers crossed!

Or you can wait and pay $1 on Redbox to watch the same movie. Same principle - I don't see $25 worth of value in watching Tiger vs. Phil play a silly-season event on PPV when I can watch them play in events that really matter (majors, etc.) for free. If you don't mind paying $25, by all means, shell it out! I'm happy to admit I'm a huge Tiger fan, but I think they've over-estimated the value on this, that's all.

No, says everyone. Until it's 5 minutes before the match, they are a few deep, and need something to distract them from the in-laws.

and then we “allegedly” use modern technology to watch it for free...

All this left me wondering is who still goes to the movies and what clown is actually paying for a PPV these days.

I like golf....so sure, why not. Better than paying to watch two guys beat the living $@&! Out of each other. I’m also guessing that charity will be involved....
