Those Apex Pro smoke irons really look great. So pissed they went PVD finish even though I have had no problems with my set of Black CF16's. Yes they show wear but nowhere near as much as that terrible finish that Taylormade put on the P790 blacks.

It amazes me that a smaller player like Cobra can satisfy their customers and provide a premium black finish but a market share leader like Callaway just cheapens out. And that is coming from a huge callaway fanboy who loves their offerings. If I hit these and they perform I would buy a set for sure just not at retail price with an upcharge for an inferior finish. I'll be waiting 9 months and get them for 60% of the price on CPO. Truth is all of these manufacturers put out amazing offerings it really comes down to what you like the look of and what makes you feel confident. No set of sticks is going to be a magical unicorn that starts making you hit greens if you didn't previously. I was able to snag the new Cobra CB/MB Black combo set brand new for half of the retail price of these Apex Smoke and there is no way they are an inferior club compared to the apex.

Play golf, enjoy the game, buy whatever you like playing and looking at, don't let other wrx' ers tell you how to spend your money or how many of a certain club you should have, do you and just temper expectations and know it's always gonna be the fault of the Indian not the arrow..

Happy Flag hunting to all in 2019

I’m pretty sure I heard the smoke finish is a new super durable PVD.

I would have expected a nicer truck, but at $500+ a pop I guess you had to be conservative financially somewhere...

Well Cobra can do that because they only make what 800-1000 sets.

And by super durable we talking? Like Superman super? Or Super Troopers super?

43* PW is not ideal.

Honestly, it could be a deal breaker for me. I am hoping the combo set is 45 or 46*

It is a dealbreaker for me. That's a 9 iron, not a pw. Now you have to buy a pw and a gap wedge.

what a racket marketing is.. how many people will be fooled by this trick. I want my pops to buy these but at that price, and to add 2 new wedges on top. forget it. Ping i210s at their price are going to be the best sellers this year - AND they offer juiced lofts if you're into that sort of thing

What’s the difference if you have to add more wedges? You Just reduce the number of irons you need at the top.

Lofts are lofts.

Thanks for this. So half a degree weaker in the 8 & 9 and 1 degree weaker in the PW compared to standard apex lofts. This puts the combo PW at 44*. Still working through buying a set gap wedge..... I’m one of those that believes less is more which is why I play a 52/58 wedge set up.

I somehow managed to snap hook every golf ball in my bag just by looking at the pictures of that hybrid.

The apex is one of the most anti hook hybrids there is...

The most fade biased hybrid Callaway have brought to retail was the XR Pro that was available the year before the original matte finished Apex. I've had both in the bag for a time, and the XR Pro was noticeably less inclined to turn over. I wouldn't call either of them draw biased by any means, but there was still a readily detectable difference.

I will echo this as well. I got far less overcooked hook misses with the XR Pro than I did with the Apex. I love the looks of the Apex, and still have 3 or 4 of them stockpiled, but it still did curve too far left for me more often than not.

Ordered my set of Apex 19's today. 5-GW with the Elevate Tour shaft. I was really impressed with this shaft. For many years nothing could beat out the Project X 5.5 but these just felt great. Very accurate, higher apex than Project X 5.5 but same distance numbers.

I have literally put the the "hoing" on halt the last 5 months just waiting for these. So far, it was well worth the wait.

Still wondering if I should go a head and order the 3 or 4 iron to use off the tee as I am not a fan of hybrids.........

Maybe it’s the angle but the new one looks like it would take my left leg off.

I know it will sound crazy and very unWRX-ish, but those of you who are geeked for the new Apex hybrid really should not buy one without trying the Big Bertha hybrid as well. It may be funky looking, but it just puts in work.

must be the angle. Flatter lie at standard and no weight in the heel
