Americans have never been much good at foursomes/alternate shot, which I feel is the purest team game you can play in golf.

 

I disagree big time. It is very hard to get into a rhythm in alternate shot and has always felt tricked up to me.

This is what SHOULD have happened today.

 

The problem is they don't have anywhere to put Reed. He doesn't get along with anyone other than Spieth and Tiger. Spieth wanted to get away from Reed's shadow and Furyk gave him his wish. Turns out Captain America wasn't able to deal with the pressure in Tiger's group, just like others in the past (Stricker, Furyk, Kuchar, etc). Breaking up these teams could end up being the big mistake for Furyk:

Reed/Spieth
