In a recent video it shows Phil and Tiger preparing at the course. Would be so much more interesting if they had to play a course that neither them nor their caddie had ever seen before. The course is a surprise at the last second 'You'll find out where we get there'. The only yardage info they'll get is from the yardage and greens books that you can buy at the proshop, no forecaddieing and a 40 second shot clock.

 

I live in Washington State (Vancouver, WA). Washing has the Home Course and Palouse Ridge are in the top 5 toughest in the state and there is a chance they've never played either. I would pay to watch that match with those rules.

There are no OWGR points on the line of course, but if there were the winner would get about 11 and the loser 2.4.

 

Tiger would enter the Top 10 with a win in this fictional situation.

 

So these two by themselves are worth about the same as a European Challenge Tour event.

If you consider that this will be an annual "Tiger vs" event for the next 10+ years, it makes sense to have Phil be the opponent for the first year. Let's get real here, he's not getting any younger, this is the best he'll ever be going forward. Next year we'll see someone like Rors (well not if he keeps hating..) or BK maybe, but this is Phil's chance to go out on top.

 

I already pre-ordered this thing, can't wait until noon Pacific tomorrow!

As somebody who lives in SE WA I'd love to see them play Wine Valley.

I got HD ( which i assume is 4k?) on dish for $19.99....There was an option of that as an upgrade over the 14.99 regular version ..... I hate Direct.. takes 3 days to change channels..the delay is maddening !

I could care less what Phil and Tiger do, but if it's on the national channels, I'll watch a bit. I only subscribe to limited cable, really don't watch much TV. I'd think more of those two, if the winner donated the cash to charity.

Makes no sense to me why it matters if it's their money ? Crazy in fact. As another poster said. I'd give $20 to get rid of commercials so the fact that it's golf when here's no golf on, its commercial free for a price I'd pay , and it's on at the right time ( 3 eastern) go be able to play in the morning and watch the afternoon then eat a good dinner. It's perfect. $20 for 4 hours of entertainment is literally as cheap as can be expected for anything. Come on.

 

People dont seem to understand it would suck for free with commercials every 5 minutes and not hearing them talk between shots

I'll be watching it at the Linq sportsbook in Vegas. Did well today betting on the cowgirls and the Saints. Have some extra money to bet on golf.

So Sky Sports are showing it, they must have secured it very late as it wasn't showing on the schedule the other day and I hadn't seen any promo until the World Cup of Golf round 2 coverage.

 

I'm skeptical about this match but I won't deny I will probably watch some of it out of curiosity, I wouldn't have paid extra for it via PPV.

I think it is safe to say that Phil is quite serious about gambling. He wants the cash - especially if it is out of Tiger’s pocket.

I honestly don't think Rory was defending himself or using the media or any of that with this statement. Its simple, he's right, this match is 15 years past its prime. And there is nobody that can say they would rather watch this match now than 15 years ago. Stop reading into everything that is said and take it at face value.

 

Do I want to pay $20 to watch a match that probably wont be competitive or do I want to watch it 4 hours after the match for free or go to a bar and see if its on and eat with that $20? I'm pretty sure I know what I am choosing.

 

I'm a big Tiger-fan myself, but even I can't understand this level of irrationality, insecurity and projection stemming from other Tiger-fans. They hang on so tight it's like an extreme mindless cult.
