PING Stealth 2.0 Wedges.... How Is There Not More Love?

Not Far From Par

Love mine. Look great. Black finish is wearing but I like that. Soft feel - softer than the MD3's I was using. Bought ES grind in 54/58, and, compared to the PM grind I was using, works much better - just smoother through turf and rough.

Wedges are very much a personal choice - I don't like the way the Ping's sit; but then again I use Edel wedges which a lot of people really don't like with the long face and the grooves right along the face :)

Wedges for me is all about your own confidence, once you find what works for you and you can picture the shot in your mind - playing better chips shots becomes far easier

I've played Edel, Miura, Ping since 2013. Could play all three -- but the Ping 2.0 Stealth ES is very easy out of bunkers, moreso then Edel, and if feel is your thing, then compared to the other two I've named, the Edels would remain in the closet. Waiting for a redesign on the Edel in terms of feel and a little more tech in the head.

But the Stealth 2.0 - lovely performance and soft feel - 56 ES and 60 SS - lots of versatility in this setup

The Stealth wedges are, without a doubt, my favorite looking wedge out at the moment. I demoed them hoping that I could find a grind that worked for me. I expected the SS to be the one, but the TS was closest (I still may go in that direction in the future). The only thing that concerned me was playing that wedge as a high-handycapper when the ground gets soft.

Is there anyone who plays a TS sole that can comment on how that wedge plays in soft turf?

Anyways, I went with a SM6 54 S (which I'm consistent with), and 60 M (which I go hot or cold with).

You just need more wedges - if you catch yourself steep in any soft turf, even with some bounce, it hurts. I sometimes open up, lay the shaft back and then swing without any lag, turn the body and don't use arms.

As to your question, the TS is fairly low bounce - you are better off going with a 60 in the Glide Forged (grind is between SS and TS) and a 56 ES in the Stealth.

I think there is PLENTY of love for these wedges! Probably the best Ping wedges to date. I just wish Ping would follow Cleveland and make the Tour issue s400 the stock shaft.

Thanks for kind words guys!

Like I mentioned... Those are the "forum rated" pics...

So the more I play these wedges... The more I LOVE them...!!

Still amazed at the one hop, stop spin they create, even on VERY short chips...

Have actually had to endure a small learning curve to get used to it, as I've come up short on a few shots!

Unfortunately, I won't be playing the next 2 weeks...

Have a 2 day trip planned this weekend to purchase a car for my boy...

And the dreaded Company X-Mas party next weekend...

(I NEVER want to go, as it's out of town... But boss always gives me the "everyone loves having you there")

After that, weather permitting, as we are expected to get our 1st real cold spell of the year...

I have had quality time with the Ping Glide family wedges at three different demo days.

The Glide 2.0 wedges flew pretty well, especially in the AWT 2.0 R-flex shaft. I especially liked the 58* and the 60* in the ES grind (concave sole).

My favorite: a tie between Callaway and Cleveland, with Ping Glide and the TM Tour Preferred getting honorable mention.

It's not that people don't like the Glide wedges, it's just that Callaway and TM are sales leaders for OEMs. Fewer people play Ping clubs, although Ping ranked in the top 5 irons played in the 2016 Players Championship.

From a technical standpoint, I admire the Vokey wedges, but I think they feel strange on impact.

I've been blown away by these wedges so far. They seem to retain spin on short chips and pitches way better out of rough and wet. Unbelievably easy feeling compared to others. Very soft feel - at least in the Stealth. Might get a 50 gap wedge to replace my set UW.

Okay so it's cold here in Canada and I just got to play my first 18 with my Glides. They literally transformed my game from inside 100 yards. I used the 60 for touch greenside shots and it was great. I've always been a lob wedge guy. The 56 was a revelation for me though. Pitching it felt like an extension of my arms. I didn't miss a single green today with the 56. Shot a PB 76 and my first ever 9 holes under par. Buying the 50 degree right now. HIGHLY recommend these if you have felt uncomfortable with your pitching game.

Looking for a suggestion on purchase of new Ping Glide 2.0 Stealth wedges.

My PW is 42 degrees. I know, it's strong but I need distance.

I currently play a 48 degree MD4, and a 54 degree MD4. This doesn't work well gap wise for me.

I'm thinking that the ideal wedge setup would be 46, 52, and 56 or 58. Probably the SS grind in the 46 and 52, and the ES in the 56/58.

Any suggestions?

Glides are the best. Have had 3 sets !. BTW, I get them with a WRX grind. Personally, black clubs are not my thing, and they bang up quickly. Finally, I need'em to look BIG, not smaller....I had the old Cleveland Beryllium that was the size of a pea...loved that but in the last 20 years I've like them a little bigger....

Anyone compare the Stealth WS to the Cleveland CBX ?

I switched to the CBX 56* this year and it’s performed really well on both full shots, partial shots and chips.

I’m not in love with the CBX looks but really like the stealth looks. Would the stealth WS be harder to hit than the CBX ?

They'll be piss easy given you're a 9 cap. They feel infinitely more precise and easy than my previous vokeys.

I picked up a 56 CBX at the end of the year, I only had a chance to hit 10 balls with it before it snowed. I had read how forgiving of a wedge it was and after hitting a few balls I have no reason not to believe the reviews on them. I had planned on buying a whole set of CBX , or a set of the stealth's. A set of 46 52 56 60 Stealth's showed up first on the BST for a fair price so guess the Stealth's are in the bag come spring. The Stealth's were on my radar as soon as they were released, but I was not going to pay full retail for a set locally, got to love the BST.

A friend has the Glide 2.0 satins, I have hit those a few times, with decent results. They say the stealth's feel softer so I'm pumped about that. The CBX 2's should be out by spring so the CBX's will drop like a rock price wise, so when that happen's and we will have a CBX Stealth shootout.

Glide 2 Stealth Just named “most wanted” of 2018 in 21 model test on that other well know web site I’m not allowed to post here.

Absolutely dominated the testing.

I’ve known for a while. Went from all Vokey for many years to to all Glide 2 this season. Wedge play has never been better.

Its about time to replace my SM6 52F and 56M. I have not hit the Ping yet but have seen them in the store. Thinking about the 52 SS and 56 ES. I have not had a Ping wedge in years but looking forward to trying them out.
