Colorado WRX 2019

Anyone want to play Highland Meadows at noon tomorrow? There's a teeoff deal for $37 with cart (although I'll probably walk if it is cpo) but you need at least two to book it.

Did you find anyone Dancin?

Nobody yet. You in? You'll have to pay me back at the course since they charge it all online with the discount.

Anyone get out today? Dancin / Deadsolid? I went to hit balls at the range and the wind was blowing pretty good. I hate hitting when its like that, dont feel like I can get a good balance or rhythm. Almost feels like a waste at time so I just pratice 50-120 yard shots for half the bucket.

Edit: Just saw the weather forecast... probably should be happy I got some time in LOL looking potentially "50" next sunday...crossing fingers.

I got out and played 9 at CommonGround with my kids. Was awesome but yes, a bit windy, up to a 2 club wind when it was into you. Couldn't drive the ball to save my life but shot a 40, had a couple good looks at birdie but couldn't convert. Excited for the season to start.

I was out at Common Ground yesterday as well, teed off at 10am.

For the first round in a few weeks it was fun, wind was gusty at times but not too bad.

Greens were tricky started off frozen and slow, but then started to speed up at about hole 11 or 12.

All in all a good day golfing, looking forward to warmer weather!

We played Lone Tree on Saturday. It was in pretty good shape all things considered with exception for #7 where they are re-doing the tee boxes. A little windy and chilly for the first few holes then it was very nice.

Number 7 or 6?

IMO they should redo all of #6. Has to be one of my least favorite holes in the area. I'd put it up there with that goofy one on the Babe Lind at Kennedy and the weird par 5 layup hole at Legacy Ridge.

Any other really stupid holes I'm missing? The layup/big drop hole at Fox Hollow maybe?

10 at Aurora Hills. I’m not against quirk. I normally like weird. That hole is just frustrating though.

5 ( or is it 6?) at Deer Creek. Bad short par 4. No real option to go for it, so you end up having to hit a 6 iron layup. Easy to fly into the hazard if your left of the stake, but even hitting to the right of the stake I’ve still had it take the slope into the hazard. Dumb.

#5 at Legacy Ridge is annoying.

I'll throw #7 at Indian Peaks to that list.

I looked at the clock about 5PM and saw where the sun was in the sky and headed for the range at Co. National. Little breezy but the worst part was the sun right in my face and the dormant grass meant I lost sight of the ball about 30 yards out. Still felt good to hit a ball outdoors.

We teed off around 1:30. Was perfect, I could let the kids hit as many shots as they wanted and no one was out there. We let a single go through on 3 and that was it. My 5 year old decided he wanted to tee up every shot, I wasn’t going to stop him :) Greens were great for so early in the year I thought.

That auction for Colorado Golf Club was a steal. CGA is hosting a fundraising tournament there for $500/person! (On a Tuesday. In May.)

What's wrong with the Fox Hollow hole? I like it because it takes a really well-placed tee shot, which is rare at many courses. It definitely tricky the first time you play it.

Although I doubled it Sunday with a poorly placed tee shot and a chunked iron into the canyon.

Funny that hole turned out to be the "best shot I never saw". Knocked a 3 wood down the middle left. Struck the iron perfect to only get something knocked up into my eye somehow ..!!

Instantly I try to get it out and while looking down I hear the marshal (if they still have one on that hole...?) yell.... "It went in"... =(

Only 2 I have ever gotten on a par 4. Just wish I could of seen it. Needless to say the stupid spec irriated my eye pretty bad making the rest of the round annoying =)

Edit: I still think #10 at Saddle Rock is stupid. I get the design but it seems they forgot Trees grow... and they pinch the fariway sooo bad now.

I dislike any par 5 that won't let you use driver off the tee. I'm looking at you, #1 at Indian Peaks!

Yes, for sure. One of my most hated holes, partially because it ruined a round for me since I missed the plaque stating yardages on the tee box.

And definitely agree. So dumb.

I'd throw #14 (I think) at Buffalo Run.

If I recall correctly, it's a short par 4 with the green protected and bunkers mid-range so it doesn't make sense to go for it. And since it's so short, you end up taking a wedge off the tee.

Yeah that hole also slows up play with the guys who wait for the green to clear only to put it right in one of the bunkers.
