I don't think it was decided either way until relatively recently. When we first started hearing about them, I believe the intent was for them to be limited.

 

It makes sense to me that these be a full blown retail release, but it doesn't make sense to have two blades in the lineup. It will be interesting to see what happens to the P730.

This set checks all the boxes for me down to the shaft and grips. I play that combo in my p750s. I miss my blades and took adjusting to the 750s from blades. I’d love to have these in the lower set like 7-pw but don’t want to pay 1750 for 4-pw but I’m giving it thought.

I hear yah there. I was looking to do the same thing, but I’m pretty positive that I’ll just bite the bullet. These irons could quite possibly be the best looking blades TM has ever produced (thanks to the big cat!)

They are an awesome looking set. They are in my opinion the best looking set since the vr pros.

yes, they have options to increase or decrease lofts. From what i can tell his lofts are 1.5 less than the stated standard, so just order that. I would be willing to bet though that you can call them and say " I want Tiger specs" and get it.

The thing is his clubs are not always 1.5° weak. Some irons are just 1° weak, others are 2° weak.

I read the tungsten plug shifts ever so slightly toe side in the short irons. Does this alter the true sweet spot in any way? Additionally how does the tungsten plug (if it does) alter ball flight characteristics based on its location in the club let's say relative to the P730s?

so, rather than guess, i just called TM. they do not offer an exact match to Tigers specs, you also cannot order a set with individual lofts set to match. You can only order a set with the standard custom loft options. Seems a bit strange but whatever.... Why even show his specs, and say these are his irons but not offer his specs....

Yeah, that's a incredibly dumb move by tm. Why not offer 2 oder 3 loft profiles? Strong, Standard and Tiger lofts.

Bought 3-pw with Project X 6.5 shafts. TaylorMade had some sort of glitch and wasn’t able to order Project X shafts. Went through FairwayGolfUSA.

May 1st can’t get here fast enough!!

yes, I didnt say that i wanted those specs, I just thought it was interesting that they do not offer them that's all. How many people outside of here are actually looking at these to play? Probably a fairly small number. So you really cant say that they are "missing out".

 

I actually really like the standard lofts of a 21 degree 3 iron down to a 47 degree PW. If anything I would want the 3 iron a degree strong, and leave everything else the standard. I like to spread things out.

I’m a little bummed out about this release. I wanted to be able to go in and select Tiger’s specs and get his irons. Looks like they aren’t offering that. I’m still playing the 2004 TW Ltd. Edition Nike blades. They came with X100 Shafts, Tour Velvet Cord grip (logo down, 1+1 on the tape), and Tiger’s actual lengths and lofts. I don’t believe they have the tungsten insert, but they are still the best irons I’ve ever hit. And with the set being based off of a 49° PW I don’t need a gap wedge. If I had to use a 47° PW I would need a gap wedge and then I’d have to take the 3-iron out to stay under 14 clubs.

You can customize the set to match Tiger's specifications, yes. We're working on a better user interface to be able to do this and make the process easier for those looking to match TW's specs.

We have a specific stock set of lofts designed to meet the demand of a wide range of players. From these stock lofts, you can order them from 2 degrees strong to 2 degrees weak (45 to 49 deg. PW) in half degree increments. We all know Tiger is very unique when it comes to his specs, so we're in the camp of playing these true to your spec to maximize individual performance.

I just wish there was a way to order the gaps how you want them for each iron. But, i guess you can just bend them after the fact.
