2019 Ping Blueprint Irons - New in hand photos

Finally got to hit these tonight. Very tempting. Likely not forgiving enough for me, but I really don’t mind the smaller head, etc. The demo they had did not have the correct shaft for me, so that did not help. I need to try it again with a shaft that is better suited for me.

I have iBlade 3-P now, +1/2” and wanted to replace my 6-PW with Blueprints at the same lengths, lies, etc... So, I ordered Blueprint 6-9, +3/4” and P +1/2”. I thought about half inch across the board, but didn’t want that funky length gap between my 5i and the new 6i. I just ordered the same color code instead of doing digital lies to match my set...I crunched the numbers, and I’m within .35 degrees on each club.

Ping demo day yesterday and the Blue's are exactly what I thought they'd be, maybe a touch more forgiving. The size with the PW and 7 iron wasn't too much smaller than I'm use to, but the 3 iron was a exercise in futility. 2/5 shots were good, the other 3 disgustingly bad as my swing isn't where it needs to be to swing that butter knife. Here's some pics next to my i500's in the PW and 7 iron. 8-PW power spec ordered, may go 7 too depending on gaps.

I saw them in person today and had two immediate thoughts: these are legit blades (the 4 iron is intimidating looking); they look awesome in person.

 

I've spent way too much on golf already this year but if I needed new irons in the slightest, I'd grab a set for sure.

A buddy of mine has a set of the Blueprints and I gamed them round a round yesterday evening. I shot my best round of the year. Going to play them once more but on a more difficult course this weekend before I make the decision. I was really impressed. Great feel and a touch of forgiveness. The most recent blade I have demo'd was the Cobra MBs. The Blueprints are much better.

What shafts are people going with? Tempted to order with zz65.

 

I have been playing since I was 6 years old and have basically always had a set of Pings (or Ping knockoffs when I was young) in my bag with the last 23 years consisting of ISI BeCu with zz65 and then Ping Anser (First Model) with Zz65 which were “Blueprinted” (lol) by Ping to match the lofts/lies/Modified SW of my ISI irons (the ISIs were to light out of the box). I wouldn’t mind a slightly softer lower launching shaft as I get older but I hesitate to mess with what works.

 

Also, I have no problem playing blades and had brief flirtations with the original Callaway Protos and the Titleist 681-T - just didn’t pull the trigger as I wasn’t playing as mich golf early in my career.

I have DG S400 in my iBlades and I'm blending Blueprint 6-P into my iBlade 3-5. I was tempted to do a different shaft in the Blueprints, but I did some testing with other shafts in the iBlade head and didn't seem to gain anything over Dynamic Gold. I even hit the BP 7i demo (DG 120 S300) against the iBlade demo with the same shaft just to confirm what I thought would be the performance differences in the heads (lower launch, a touch more spin, and tighter distance dispersion with the Blueprint). So...I should see the same differences between my current 6-P and the BP 6-P if the shafts remain identical.

I have hit these a number of times. I just cant stand the dg 120 shaft. I think it is making me not like these irons.

I hate the 105 and 120 dg. So yes. Totally different in a bettter shaft. The new DG line to me feels extremely counter balanced and overall super light.

Does Ping offer custom shafts? I would like these in Project X 6.0 but I don't see this shaft on their website.

Yes, eg DG Tour Issue shafts are $35 upcharge

Right, but I think it is crazy considering these are already stupid expensive to think about adding $35 more per club...

I think the crazy thing is paying $35 a stick for tighter tolerance weight sorting. :)

 

Oh...you do get the cool AF shaft label, though.

News flash. Still love my set. More I hit them the more like a pair of 20 year old $400 shoes they fit.

Whether just new or hitting the club face more in center, first day out with mine after got lie right, swore I had wrong shaft, was the lie, hit double the GIR so I feel very good about my moving on these.

I just got my shipment of 4-pw in. Question for all you guys, I ordered red Dot and it shows it ok all the tags but the dots on the clubs are black. Is all the paintfill black on the irons regardless of color code?

Pretty sure I've seen pics of Louis' blueprints with the red dot. Would be very very odd for Ping to abandon years of having the assigned colored dot on their irons regardless of being forged or not.
