Really, the party is kind of over after the 16th. I have never understood why Jones didn't make anything about it when it was decided to swap in-out. Holes designed to be finale is probably not designed like holes to be somewhere in the middle. Last holes should be top ranked holes.

17 and 18 hardly birdie fests, lol, especially on Sunday. Having seen them both, I think 18 is a far superior finishing hole than 9. Sometimes I think folks find out they switched the nines and just want to make more out of it than is is - good-bye Amen corner, good-bye Sunday back nine charges, etc.

I know you are talking about 17 and 18 specifically, but still, you think the 17th green Sunday placement is a piece of cake? You think that hole isn't a tough hole to consistently play well, taking green and surroundings, etc. into consideration? I think it doesn't get enough credit.

No right or wrong answers on design discussion, but curious where you are coming from other than "ranking".

Had tickets a few years ago on Monday when it rained and they shut the course down at 10:00. They refunded my money and told me that I would automatically received tickets the next year. Assumed I would tickets for Monday but they sent tickets for Wednesday instead. The people who run this tournament are simply first class as is the tournament itself. Anyone who doesn't realize that is simply ignorant.

Had this happen to me a few years ago. Let you in Tuesday? Sorry, no. Since I had won the lottery to buy tickets for the practice round they sent me a letter offering to let me buy tickets for the following year, along with a refund. If I had bought tickets from a scalper I guess the original purchaser would have gotten that letter.

If you're hunting for a piece of the lead, rarely a birdie there.

I watched the 1963 highlites at lunch today (after taking on Kiawah Ocean on the simulator with the boys)

Of note:

- Nicklaus won his first green jacket

- Sammy Snead should've won his 4th green jacket ..... at 50 !!!!

- man were the greens sloooooooow

- Pin was back right on 16 for the Sunday. The old traditional Sunday pin was a pig. Jack made 2 though

- I can't believe the severely wet conditions they played in on the Saturday. Standing water on some greens. Low score was 71 that day

- the water was a normal color and not dyed blue

- behind 12 green was a lot wilder

- guys were putting with the flag in ! Not sure when this changed?

- There was quite a high viewing mound left of 17 green

- Love the swings of J Boros and Champagne Tony Lema

- The course was not the pristine piece of work we see nowadays by any means

Hope rain stays away. As is it will play hard and fast and produce a true champion. We had s wet winter but it’s dried out a lot the last month. Rain will help the so so putters and long hitters more than anyone. I hope it stays dry and the wind blows.
