It'd be great if someone can share a resource or something. I'm not lucky enough to have any inside contacts like a lot of you do I guess. I just don't want to get screwed out of getting one and I'm not interested in buying one for twice the MSRP.

I called an assistant at the course I play. He called the Titleist rep and I had my choice of 34 or 35 in Newport or Newport 2. I could get one of each if I wanted. What I couldn't do was order at 34.5, different weights etc. I ordered the Newport 2, and it will be there mid-August.

I called my usual club pro who gives me far better service (and prices) than any big store or online store in the UK. He said he’s getting five and just put one down against my name on the proviso I try it the day of release and no later.

Denvergolf so what length did you order? And did he tell you what the headweights were in the 34 and 35? I also prefer. 34.5 and would like it to be 350 grams

I contacted my pro at my cc and he said he was going to call their Titleist rep to see if they can get it ordered, but they couldnt get a hold of him. Still waiting to hear back... I could just call club champion but I have some pro shop credit I would like to use. How much longer do you all think I can hold out before I put in the order with club champion. wanting a fastback 34"

In my case I know a long time Sr sales rep at the local GG. I called him & he was able to secure what that store (A flagship store) was getting. Then the manager called and said we have your name on one of our 3 34" NP2's. Come in on August 16th and pay for it. I've been a customer there for years so they know I'm gonna be there to pay.

Not sure if they will place an order cold or if you have to be a fitting customer. No harm calling to find out. My local GG said they can’t take orders for a few more weeks.

I don't think GG is "Taking Orders" Each store is getting an Allotment of T22's (They know what they are getting) & my guess is they know their club junkies and most of that allotment is already being sold to the guys who have been calling them nonstop.

Agree that the NP2 looks particularly sharp here, the black helps a lot IMO.

Am I weird that I am not even interested in these? Still prefer my Buttonback NP, even though it has been sitting in a bag for a few years.

Not taking anything away from the fact that these are the best looking putter coming out of SC in quite some time.

So I noticed that there's a thread about T22 in Deal\NoDeal and another one in Putter forum. Maybe mods can help consolidate all three into 1?

Well, I'd think they'll be slightly different, but who knows how or how much. The most basic difference is that the T22 is a 303 stainless head, while the originals were carbon. Will that make a difference though, since the ball is only contacting the TeI3 insert? Don't know. The only other possible difference is, it looks like perhaps they're not using screws to fix the insert to the body?? I don't really see a definitive answer for that. This line gets me, though - "Equipped with Scotty’s modern vibration dampening system, each T22 putter incorporates the classic “domino pattern” displayed by the white elastomer membrane hand-applied in the back cavity, while **current technology expertly fuses the Teryllium insert to the putter head** for enhanced vibration dampening."

Are screws considered "current technology"?

Pretty sure there was no screws in the original, nor in these new ones. Button backs for screws and these were held by caulk.. uh I mean elastomer.

"GE Tub and Tile Silicone caulk proved to be the clear winner".. so the current technology is new vs 20 yr old caulk.

The originals did have screws, just not the type in the Button Back. Underneath four of the elastomer dots in the cavity were tiny screws going to the back of the insert.

not sure about the new version, but this was referenced in the jonathan wall article about the original:

"The Teryllium copper insert was fastened to the cavity using five screws during the milling process — one in each corner of the back cavity and one in the center..."

Yeah, he's on record as saying all the dots in the cavities of the original were done to hide the dots which had the screws in them. Thought it looked better with all the dots in there, rather than just a few where the screws were.
