The New Ventus Black

Awesome. I have a 65 Trono and will be getting it tested soon. Our club opens on Wednesday. I will probably start off with the Ventus as that will likely be the gamer. I'm knocking on 40's door now. I don't know if I can bring the heat consistently enough for the Trono.

I think it is more butt stiff than the ventus. Full length bias layer I think but just a lighter fiber.

It’s phenomenal! Kicked my G410 19 hybrid Hzrdus Black 105X combo right out of the bag. Playing the 10X in the G410 5 wood has been perfection. Almost went with the 7 wood but I just had her cut down to play 41.25” in the 5 wood and it’s been great so far!!

I've been playing the 6x for a few rounds here in Ohio and for the most part I'm absolutely loving it. Have it in a Sim 8*, turned down and upright. The only thing I'm not loving is the weight of the 6x. I think I wish I would have gotten the 7x as I'm more used to driver shafts in the mid 70 grams.

 

Great low spin and the dispersion has been quite good so far. Still very early in the season so we will keep testing and see how things go. Might try to grab a 7x too to compare

Been playing a black 6X and don't find it to be low, low. Think it is more mid, low. Just picked up a Kuro Kage Dual Core 60TX to compare. Very interested to see the differences as there really isn't any Ventus Black vs other shafts with head to head numbers.

About to have black 7s built for my F9 Tour 3w. I am not sure on tipping, guessing theY recommend 1”, was thinking just a 1/2”.

i play the 6s in my driver un tipped

You would be fairly right. You can see below that the flex and EI curve are pretty linear. That is a good thing. This really means you have control over launch. It is neither high nor low.

 

Vs the curve of the Kuro Kage. Also a little linear but slightly stiffer mid section. Also counter weighted a little. The Kuro Kage is interesting in that is is more mid and tip stiff and softer in the butt.

I have the 7s in a 3 wood untipped and its very stable. Also play 6s untipped in driver. My thinking was with the Low/Low profile, might give me a bit more launch. Works just as described for me and doesn't produce any left issues at all.

I've got a few rounds now under my belt with this shaft, and I can say that it is a very consistent shaft. My dispersion is fairly tight with this shaft. I'm not sure if it is any better than my Tensei Pro Orange, but it is just as good. It will definitely stay in the bag for this season.

I'm loving the Ventus Black 6X in my driver. I got a Black 7X for my 3 wood but there's no place to go to get it installed. I can't really complain because at least I've been able to play golf. This is where my dilemma comes in. I'm absolutely smashing my 3 wood with the stock TaylorMade Atmos! I know I shouldn't mess with it if I'm hitting it well, but we all know that's not going to happen. I guess I'll just need to make sure that whenever I get to have it swapped that they take good care of the Atmos so I can put it back in if the Ventus doesn't work out.

Just curious, has anyone been able to compare the ball flight between the stock TM Atmos and the Ventus Black in a 3 wood?

if you are talking about the atmos orange. The black will be lower. The atmos is actually fairly high torque the ventus very low torque.

They will be night and day different. That is not to say that it will be better for you. Some swings need more more torque.

I have black 7x untipped for driver and blue 7x untipped for 3 wood. No regrets. Super stable and the length gives me more speed.

I have the 6s in my driver and a 7s in a Ping 3 wood. I loved the performance of the 7s in the Ping but I never hit it as well as my old RBZ Stage 2 3 wood so I went back to it. In the same boat as you as I shouldn't tinker with the RBZ but last night installed a TM tip on the Ventus 7s. The RBZ has a Speeder and since its interchangeable, I'm not going to screw anything up. I can just go back to the old Speeder if it doesn't work.

This may be my favorite shaft ever! I have a Black 7S and a Black 7X. As much as wanted to be in the Black 7X, the 7S is giving me all I could ask for and more. The stiffer flex would eliminate the left ball a little more, but I'd have to REALLY step on the gas to see a marked improvement in distance or launch. Think I'm sticking with the 7S, but the tech works! Period! Pretty happy with this in my custom Mavrik.

Glad the feedback got to you! I've gone Black 7S in driver and Blue 7S in 5w and 3w and they're all monsters. Here's the evidence if you need it, but I suspect you don't. Haha.

And that was the maiden voyage.

anyone measure the cpm of a black 6 or 7x by chance?

s3fitting has cpm on the black 6x at 265.08 and the 7x at 274.00. I would love to know the cpm on the black 7s, they don’t have that. Bend profile on the black 6’s very similar flat curve to Kuro Kage XT/XD...except Ventus has stiffer tip by design. Very low launching. High tip/butt ratio.

the Black 7’s have tip/butt ratio inline with the blue Ventus in the 7 and 8 . Little higher launch. The EI profile for the black 7 is not flat. Much stiffer butt, same mid as 6, and slightly softer tip. The EI for the 7 is the same classic Blueboard shape you see in the Ventus blue. The 7x is a slightly stiffer higher launching Ventus blue 8x in a lighter package. Really remarkable what they have done, I think it’s quite smart. I

It's all relative I suppose. But, I don't find the Black 6X to be a very low launching shaft. Pretty neutral. Not too high, not too low.
