Another factor coming into play here is Full Swing Kit just announced it's going to be fulfilling pre-orders and opening up its order window one week from today.  For $4k you get all the club data.  Like MEVO+ it has a built in camera for swing video purposes.

Some M+ users are noticing for the first time that data blocks for path and face angle (and other variants only once visible to X3 users) are now visible.  No one is confirming that there is data populating the new windows, though.  So, I suspect FlightScope may offer a paid upgrade to unlock some of the data on MEVO+, and I would be OK with that.

Not sure if its been mentioned but the Kit will not work indoors until some time next year from what I recently heard.  Not a great look for that launch.

In the meantime, FlightScope announced Fusion Tracking upgrade for the MEVO+ to roll out at January PGA show.  Expected to resolve putting and short game issues.  If it resolves interference in radar detecting high speed shots, a lot of GC3 owners will be sitting on a $7000 paperweight.

Good news is Launch Pro users will be money ahead buying MEVO+ at $2000, and keeping their LP around as a tribute to their FOMO folly.

I do t think Fusion tracking on a Mevo+ is the game changer you think it is. And the Kit has been in production/delayed for 2+ years, doesn’t work indoors and they are launching it out of their own fear of missing out.

I've been interested to read about this fusion tracking ITT, good info, but I'd be shocked if it was capable of transforming the Mevo+ indoor performance into a GC3 competitor. Doesn't seem like the camera was designed for the purpose.

My guess is it will resolve the short game issues some are experiencing.  But, far and away, the top complaint is from higher swing speed guys.  FlightScope’s campaign is “We’ve listened.”  I think this is going to resolve driver too.

sweet. hope the fusion doesn't costs extra money as in *subscription based*

I re-read the last email blast.  It says:

Fusion Tracking will be an update to all units.

It will open up access to more “capabilities.”

My take is the update will be free. Access to Additional data parameters will be available as a subscription.

That's same thing. They are going to charge additional to use the function then.

If both FS and trackman have not solved radar interference issues with their 15-25k flagship units, I'm not sure how a software/firmware update will solve them using a lower powered radar unit.

I just read an article about the RCT balls. I’m wondering the same for my Tour Xi.

Yea I read the MGS article.

.Potentially improved accuracy

.Potentially no need for metal sticker

.More durable

Hopefully someone tests them out when they become available.

If the MEVO+ is looking for a dot, I'm not so sure if it will read the metal "Y" embedded in the RCT.

Most likely not. The radar unit itself doesnt look for anything, all it does is send and receive signals, everything else comes down to the algos that do the signal processing.  In order for the Mevo+ (or any flightscope) to benefit, they will likely need to tweak their algorithms the same way TM says they did to process the different signals emitted from the embedded feature. If Trackman has filed IP on it they might be SOL since it's a novel way to register spin in a very specific use case.

"To maximize the benefits of the Pro V1 RCT, Trackman had to tweak its algorithms to work with an embedded mark (as opposed to a sticker). Support for RCT was rolled out with version 2.2 of Trackman’s firmware, so Trackman owners will want to install the update. Seriously, do it now"

Unless this is a patentable feature, i can totally see the other ball manufacturers create a new line of balls for this purpose…

Very patentable IMHO. I am guessing they will push for coverage on the pattern itself, the process of embedding/manufacturing it,  and the methodology/algorithm/process of using the specific pattern to better measure the spin.  Given the presser is clearly co-branded, they likely have an exclusivity agreement in place not to develop a different pattern for use with another radar unit (ie the only other relevant one out there)

Well what’s stopping Flightscope from approaching TaylorMade / Callaway / Srixon from doing the same? Or Flightscope adjusting their algorithm?

And for Titleist, maybe there is a handshake agreement with TM, but would they want to limit themselves to one radar maker in the future?

I already explained exactly what would stop them, not sure how else to explain it. You can patent a novel object, you can patent a novel way to make that object, and you can patent a novel way to use that object. In this case TM/Titleist could very well be awarded patents for all 3 since this sort of tech is novel.

As for TM/Titleist having a hand shake agreement, I'm not sure how you can say that if you actually read the presser. If two big, non-competing companies co-develop and bring to market something very unique, there is no way they aren't going to have contractual protections in place.

With this being said, prelim findings seem to be positive and that they help pick up spin with flightscope units. This is very good news for all flightscope users.

Interesting. More accurate spin from radar units indoors and in limited flight situations to better compete with camera units. If this helps Mevo+ with indoor accuracy (along with fusion tracking) then it is a really great piece of kit considering everything else that comes with it (or doesn't - subscriptions...).  Look forward to seeing some reviews - eventually.

From what the story indicated, the RCT ball will be something fitters and stores purchase directly from Titleist for in store use and it is not designed to be a retail item. It will be like ranges do and order a bunch of balls. Also it is not going to be much good if you do not hit Titleist balls.
