I think I will get the H4. I never liked wearing a watch when playing. I am dying to get that Strokes Gained info on my game.

I'm confused by the H4. Is it similar to the GameGolf where you put it on your belt and have to tap the device to record your score?

yes.  Check out their website, they have a nice video showing the technique just like Game Golf Live

Seems far less convenient than the watch...unless someone really just hates wearing a watch. Glad they're expanding their lineup and giving people options, though, as I know watches aren't for everyone.

Yes satellite deployment was delayed heavily due to Covid, they are using both frequencies and it will get more and more accurate as satellites are released.

OK.  Last time I used my V3 was in January and accuracy was still 3 - 5 meters.  Thanks.

OK. I am confused. If one looks at the specs on the Shot Scope website for both the new H4 and the V3 in regard to GPS, there is no longer any mention of "L5" on the V3 as both list the following:

GPS L1, Galileo E1, Glonass L1

Played my first round today with the V3, and overall it was fine. GPS was accurate and the pin collect was easy enough to remember. Even had a drop ball penalty I was able to add in easily enough. After 18, hit "Finish round" and felt like it was a good start.

However, when I got home to try to sync the round to my mobile device there was no data on the watch. Check history on the watch and it says no rounds recorded. Nothing to sync to my mobile. A bit disappointed in that but hoping it was either user error or a glitch of some kind. I'll try to play again a couple times within the next week to try the tracking again and hope I can upload the data.

Email the support team and they will check and if need be add your round into your account.

Unfortunately there was no record of a round on my account, but it's not a deal breaker. I was able to play last night for 9-holes with GPS+Tracking and the round did record and I was able to sync. Looking forward to collecting more data throughout the season.

Really like the pause round function because it gave me plenty of chances to hit some practice shots and putts without skewing the data.

Quick question; very excited by this system and going to give it a shot, came across the section on practice swings helping with the tracking... I don't actually take practice swings on anything other than short game stuff, will the tapping of the sensors to the watch/watch band be sufficient or am I going to have issues with it recording due to the lack of practice swings?

I've had no issues just holding the club in my right hand ( I'm a leftie) when I pull it from the bag and waggling it around a couple times

I wouldn't even do that as, depending on how far you are from the bag to where your ball is and where you actually take your shot, that could be an added shot. I have not found it necessary to "tag" the watch band at all. As long as you hold the club such that the tag is within 10 cm or so, it should recognize it. If concerned, go into settings and enable "Show Club". Then you can take a quick glance at the watch, practice swing or not, and see if the club has been sensed.

I've never had it add a shot but yes, it normally senses the tag once you put the club in the hand with the watch.

On the dashboard for "approaches" is there a way to multiselect the short irons?

Until I build a season's worth of data, the sample size on a single club is too small, but "all clubs" would include 3W and hybrid on par 5s.

image.png.4b9be5e113bb2b7ce925f5610c212ccc.png

You can move that right dot on the distance scale to a yardage that would only include shorter clubs. The scale ranges from 50 yards on the left, to as much as 350 yards at the end of the scale on the right, with multiple yardage choices in between.

With the new updates announced today, would that now make Shotscope matched to Arccos and there for better due to no subscription?

Three New Features Now LIVE

The first being Course Analysis, where you can analyse your performance on any course you have played. You can also break this down by individual holes and see which holes you play well (or not so well!)

Discover a wide range of new statistics about your game, such as average score based on where your tee shot goes, success rates around the green from long/short/left/right and get a ranking for every hole that is unique to you (just like having your own personal stroke index).

The second new feature is benchmarking of the performance statistics. Compare your game against other handicaps to identify exactly where you are losing / gaining shots.

The new mobile app versions are:
iOS: 2.13.1
Android: 3.10.0

Please be aware that depending on your location and device, it can take up to 24 hours for the update to become available on your app store.

To find out how to access the new course analysis feature and a little more about what it can do - read the article below.

Dashboard

Strokes Gained and more now on Dashboard

The third update is to the web dashboard!

The performance pages on the dashboard have been updated to include strokes gained and a range of new statistics about your game. Including; performance over time, approaches by lie type and distance, short game inside 25yards and so mcuh more.

We have also updated the design of the dashboard with new and improved graphs and charts to really dive into the details of your game.

We recommend you take a look and explore what's new!

Please note the web dashboard is designed for laptops and tablets only, not mobile phones. If you wish to use your mobile phone, please use the app.

I bought the V3 watch since it went on sale on Amazon. I hope this works out.

* I played my first game with the V3 and I can say that I am very satisfied. It is not perfect but it is better than my Game Golf. No more tagging. Just swing away. I must say, I needed to edit for about 5 minutes and that's about it. I cannot wait to load more games on this watch and build more data!

One thing to remember when "comparing" yourself to other players, is that you're at the mercy of their own accuracy of tagging and recording their round. I think Strokes Gained is useless unless you're comparing to a tour player since that data should be good. I went in to look at the shotscope data for a couple of the courses I play, and here's a perfect example. a "15" handicap shooting a "63" gross. Clearly not tagged and completed in full.

Isn't Shots Gained measured against a defined benchmark, not just other users of Shot Scope? Just asking as I really don't know.

Not for non-pga tour pro players. There is no "defined benchmark" otherwise. You have to measure other people's shots somehow to understand how many shots it takes to get down from a specific distance.

The fact that the pgatour has shotlink so each shot IS measured is why that benchmark is as accurate as it's going to get.

I always have the same thoughts when Shot Scope or Arccos or whoever release these infographics based on "over 400,000 rounds of amateur golfer data".

The vast majority of the rounds recorded every day are by people who turn the device on, go play and then upload the data when they're done. No checking, no correcting, no adding missed shots, no fine tuning hole locations or first putt locations.

Kind of like when USGA or somebody says "The average handicap is 18.7" as though that somehow means anything given that most of the scores entered in GHIN are as much fantasy as reality.

No doubt. Back when I used GameGolf, I knew a couple of other people who had the same. You can view your friend's rounds with GameGolf.

It was obvious that when they missed recording a putt, they would simply use the "add putt" feature, which would drop the putt distance right between the last shot and the hole. So if the first putt was 30 feet, the added putt would be 15 feet, so it showed them missing the first putt 15 feet short, then holing the next 15' putt.

Same goes with added full shots. If they aren't corrected, the data is trash.

Hi All:

Just completed my first round with ShotScope version 3.  Generally I am impressed with shot recording.  Far better than my experience with Arcoss/Apple Watch I tried a couple of years back.

One issue that I ran into was with manual putting and no tag on the putter.  Let's say I was 3 yards off the green and wanted to use my putter.  How can I force ShotScope to bring up the put menu so I record the location of the shot with the putter off the green?

Thank you in advance.

I use the Auto mode in putting, so I am assuming manual mode might work similarly. If the Pin Collect screen isn't showing I use the top left menu button, then at the bottom you can scroll through various options, one option being Pin Collect. Confirm the choice using the top right button by the check mark. See if that doesn't work for you. Report back if that works in manual mode, as I am curious now.
