Brooks Koepka compares Patrick Reed's bunker incident to Houston Astros' cheating

It was a very good response.

Extremely difficult to name names when there is no corroborating evidence as the very nature of these things become one person's word against another and as Brooks even said himself that you see something that doesn't look right but can't tell with 100% certainty. I'm sure like most people he's inclined to give his fellow pro the benefit of the doubt where possible unless he has any reason to think otherwise. The idea that if you don't name names then you shouldn't comment on a subject seems ridiculous to me.

Reed's big problem, which nobody can deny, is that it has been documented on camera more than once. The evidence is there the only doubt is nobody can say with 100% certainty that it was intentional and that is the case with almost all of these types of incidents.

Personally I think the whole thing is a pity as Reed is a magnificent player and I've always enjoyed watching.

"If you remove the elite level golf from the discussion and just focus on your average every day golfer, more of them cheat than don't"

Not in my experience. In over 40 years playing golf the overwhelming majority of people I've played golf with in a competitive (not including a bounce game) setting have tried to play by the rules.

Yes I've encountered a few blatant cheats and some people who are loose with the rules but most violations have been through a genuine lack of knowledge of the rules. In the latter I include myself as I'm not naive or arrogant enough to assume I've never broken a rule through insufficient knowledge/understanding.

I have encountered one...and he was asked to leave the club I belong to. I am sure it goes on, but that is the only one I know about. On a side note, my son was playing in a high school tournament and called a penalty on himself...no one saw the infraction...and his coach was PO'd that he did so. Not sure if that coach was a one off or what.

While I am not a big fan of Reed personally, he is making it a yearly thing to whoop up on McIlroy and now JT and Rham.......Reed has game, no denying that and I think people need to look into his past to see why he is the way he is....no excuses, you either like him or you dont, but this guy doesnt need to cheat to be a top 10 player in the world....even though he did......

Its strange because why do great players cheat? Why does Tom Brady deflate footballs? getting into the psyche of these guys is probably something that wouldnt make sense to us, but to them....its probably normal thinking....Tom Brady may be the GOAT and he needs to deflate footballs? Lance Armstrong needed PED's? The list of historical cheaters is long and distinguished, thats for sure

Lol. Your words. Not mine.

hate is a strong word. Hater is seen as slang for detractor. But hate. That’s. A real word. I rarely use it in that context. I don’t know the guy. I may like him in a “ yo that bro has a cool pair of shoes “ kind of way. But as a golfer. He’s down around Rory Sabatini for me. As in anybody but ... that’s not hate. That’s lack of respect for his attitude and game.

Seriously???

GTFOH??

I like Brooksy, though he should just STFU, concentrate on his game, and not start sh*t in a RC year cuz trust me Gents, like him or loathe him, CAP IS BACK?!!!

Deal with it?!!!

Interesting take / question. But each seem to have their own explanation; we just have not gotten to Reed's yet, but it is likely more of the same - culture. Now why do the Patriots have this culture of skirting rules / doing everything for an edge to the point that they cross the line? Who knows where that started. Arguably from Kraft, but regardless being around that for awhile Brady got into it as well. Same for Armstrong. The list of cyclists and PEDs is so long that it is pretty much fundamental to the sport. Why? Culture, and the fact what some of these guys are doing is not humanly possible without drugs. If I am Brady though, I would be pretty offended to be in the same paragraph as Armstrong! ;)

At this point I think Koepka is doing this just to get attention ... hes playing up the outspoken/tough guy image thinking it will get him more sponsors or something. its not working

I'd agree with if this if the PGA Tour actually did deal with things. They are super protective of their brand to the extent that they try to pretend these things don't happen. Some might say another example is they way they are secretive with their disciplinary proceedings - zero transparency. The way Jay Monahan interjected himself into the Reed situation is clearly unhelpful going forward, if a similar situation happens again then it's on record that the head of the PGA Tour is in Reed's corner so he's comprosmied. Jay Monahan defends Patrick Reed amid controversy: 'I believe Patrick'

I know it won't sit well with some people but definitely not cheating. Within the rules and just lucky that there were enough people in the vicinity.

I think the only reasonable way to settle this is to have a cage match between Koepka and Reed.

Winner takes on B.A.D.
