Loneliest club in your bag?

I constantly switch out an m4 3 wood with a cally optiforce 5 wood. Never been comfortable with either of them and because of that, they get left in the bag and I grab the 2 iron instead

It's my 50* degree wedge. I have no confidence in it. My last iron set was 5-GW and the GW was money for me, but this vokey 50* and I just don't get along.

My utility iron is like a mistress. She can go weeks without getting any attention, then when the old lady (driver) isn't cooperating she gets thrust into action for a glorious round or two, then ignored again when the driver comes back around.

I'm not sure if that constitute loneliness but that's how it goes.

For me it was the 5's. 5 wood and 5 iron. I have a higher lofted 3 wood (17 degrees - I guess considered in some brands to be a 4 wood) so I can hit that off the tee on a narrow driving hole and on par 5's going for it in 2. I only noticed about a 10 yard gap between my 5 wood and 3 hybrid and I just don't put myself in that many positions where I feel I need to shore up that gap.

I dropped the 5 iron because after the 6 iron I get far less consistent with my iron control. I toyed with the idea of adding a 5 hybrid but I just don't have that many occasions where I need it and can usually manage hitting a soft 4 hybrid or stepping on hard 6.

I'm in a good place with my bag. My driving iron and 4 iron got kicked out last year but made an appeal to get back in last week. Their tryout at the range did not go well and they are back in the closet. While the 5w and 4h are not my best clubs in the bag, they are better than the irons that they replaced.

The loneliest club in my bag is the putter. The other clubs do their job and hit some great shots. The putter not so much.

Probably my 58 degree wedge. I've been hitting many more shots around the green with my gap or pitching wedge instead of my 58 anymore, and the grass is thick enough right now that my 58 goes right under it and I end up using my 54 degree instead if I do need to get one high in the air. I use a 3/4 54 degree wedge from my 58 degree distance on approach shots as well due to a couple poorly timed 150 yard thinners into the creek earlier in the year, can't get those ones out of my head.

50* for me. I play 50, 54, 58. I just always seem to be at 54 distance or I knock a PW down.

Probably 4i. My home course does give the entire bag a pretty regular workout. 4i only comes out on approaches into the green from that required yardage. Lay-ups and punches under trees will use 5i (or hybrid) instead. That said, I find myself in 4i distance probably once every 3 rounds give or take.

Same as you OP. I use my 58 degree wedge for all shots within 70 yards. I am rarely at 54 degree range, so I only use it maybe once every 3 rounds. I thought about pulling mine, but there really isn't another club I need to add to my bag so I just keep it.

According to Arccos using the data gathered using my old PING set: The 4 iron. just 44 shots in 71 tracked rounds. Surprisingly enough, the 6 iron is next with 59 shots.

I don't like using it and I didn't really have to all that much.

Has to be my 52* gap wedge or my 5 iron, just don't find myself at distances where those come into play all that often, glad I have them when needed though

7 iron. I'm pretty sure I could take it out of my bag at this point. For some reason I never find myself in a situation where I need to hit a 170-175 yard shot.

3 wood.. not confident with it and doesn’t get me that much more distance than a 3 hybrid. Most holes can be reached without the extra 10-15 yards from a well-struck wood.

It is definitely the 3W for me. I rarely try to hit it off the ground because whenever I do I get disastrous results. I think the only reason I carry it is because there are rare days when the wind is blowing right, if the tees are set up in such a way and the fairway conditions are such that driver is too much club and will put me through the fairway and into a creek on our 18th. 3W is the only obvious option in that case and pretty much the only reason it is still in the bag. I am pleased with my gapping from 5W all the way down through my wedges and there really is no room for another club anywhere else.

I took my 3W out of the bag and replaced it with a 5W. I hit it a lot better off the fairway and distance is more predictable for me as well.

I also carry a 5W which I hit very well off the turf. Then I go 4h, 5-AW, SW, LW. The only time 5W doesn't work well for me is into a strong headwind.

After the last few rounds, I'd have to say my PW. Just doesn't seem to be in the correct gap for the distance I have to the green.

I think for me it's my PW. I hit it maybe 5 times a year on the course. I like the club a lot, so it's not that. I'm just never 130 to 140 from the hole for some reason. Oddly enough I've holed out each of the last 2 years with it.

54, 5 iron, and 5 wood.

I basically use 58, 50, and 8-iron around the greens. I only really use 54 for full shots or mid-range bunker shots.

5-iron just always gets edged out by a strong 6 or a throttled back 4-iron. Trouble club is 4-iron. I think I’ve used it maybe 4 times in 2020.

5-wood is just for that weird range from 215-235 that sometimes you get with long par 3’s or an occasional attempt at a Par 5 in two. I love my 3-wood and I feel comfortable flighting my 4-iron from 185-205 so it’s usually a case of the 5 wood being a rare instance specialty club.

Honestly, my 5 iron... for some reason I just never really find myself 190ish out. Seems like the long par 3s around me are 200ish and I’m either closer or farther away on the par 4s and 5s. Don’t get me wrong, I do reach for it occasionally, I just reach for the 4 iron or 6 iron more.

Tie between my 3 wood and 55 wedge. Just don't seem to need them much at all.

60 Deg and 4 hybrid...keep them cause these courses here in Texas are unpredictable..rough or fluffy stuff sometimes gets the 4h and angles greenside may need 60.

Mine was a 5W, but I’ve just sold it and got a TS3 19* hybrid.

With regard to your 54* wedge, surely you use it more than one of your woods? All of my wedges get used much more than my long clubs, and if I had 15 slots to fill I’d get another wedge!
